Chibi High has continued on its stunning ascent, with its 2017 ordinary level examination classes earning a whopping 96 percent pass rate for a school that knows only improvement upon progress.
The Reformed Church in Zimbabwe (RCZ) – run school’s previous ‘O’ level highest pass rate had been 89.7 percent but that record was beaten by the 6.3 percentage points improvement achieved by the class of 2017.
This was achieved because many pupils scored straight As in most of the examinations they sat for.
The highest pupil had 13 As while 90 pupils managed to obtain at least five As each.
A total of 173 pupils passed with five subjects and above, making Chibi High one of the schools with the biggest number of candidates in the province.
Chibi High School head, Boniface Machingauta was pleased that his school had surpassed even its own wildest expectations.
“I am proud of both our staff and pupils for that remarkable performance. They continue to make Chibi High the great school that it is.
“In the past year, Chibi High has been an all-rounder in both academic and sporting activities. That saw us winning various national awards and the ‘O’ level pass rate for 2017 is a pat on the back for us,” Machingauta said.education
