I’m not G40, says MP Gwanongodza

Ephraim Gwanongodza

Upenyu Chaota

CHIVI – Chivi Central Member of Parliament (MP) Ephraim Gwanongodza has bitterly complained that prospective candidates who want to contest for the seat in the upcoming elections have embarked on a massive character assassination campaign against him.
Addressing hundreds of Zanu PF supporters while commissioning a borehole in Ward 16, Gwanongodza said he was a loyal member of the ruling Zanu PF party and has never identified himself with factionalism.
He decried what he called were malicious claims by his adversaries that are smearing him as having been a loyal member of the now vanquished G40 faction.
“There are people who come and tell you that Gwanongodza is a G40. Those are blatant lies because the G40 members we know have been expelled from the party and we do not see them in parliament.
“I am a member of Zanu PF and working for the party, rallying people behind President Emmerson Mnangagwa. Those bend on causing divisions and sowing seeds of doubt will get a rude awakening,” said Gwanongodza to loud ululations from the crowd.
He said campaigning had not even started yet some people were already in full swing conducting meetings in the dead of the night for the purposes of tarnishing his image.
“To those who are going for low blows be warned. The people of Chivi Central are not stupid. They know what they want and the numbers do not lie.
“We are all Zanu PF and if you believe you have the people, why not wait until the primaries and prove the point rather than cause divisions when the President is preaching unity.
“In Masvingo we had four G40 Members of Parliament and they were all expelled from the party. If I was with G40, I would have suffered the same fate so do not be fooled. The President has given me four boreholes for my constituency and I will continue to serve under President Mnangagwa,” said Gwanongodza.politics

Media Centre citizen journalism refreshers reach Masvingo

Participants at the Media Centre citizen journalism refresher course in Doug Hill Room at Charles Austin’s Theatre

TellZim Reporter

Media Centre, in partnership with TellZim News, on Friday last week conducted a workshop to encourage citizen journalists to monitor and report electoral malpractice during the upcoming general elections.
The workshop was part of Media Centre’s nationwide refresher courses for citizen journalists as the country approaches a critical general election.
Media Centre director, Ernest Mudzengi described citizen journalism as critical for the promotion of access to information, saying people must take advantage of their mobile phones to expose electoral malpractice wherever it may exist.
“The country needs each and every one of us to do our part to gather as much information as possible on what is happening on the ground. It is our duty to report truthfully on what is happening for the benefit of the public,” said Mudzengi.
He also said his organisation had engaged the Zimbabwe National Editors Forum (Zinef) for the purposes of getting publication space for good stories from citizen journalists.
TellZim News director Golden Maunganidze, who did much of the facilitating work, emphasised the need for the truth and accuracy so that citizen journalists do not become purveyors of what has come to be known as ‘fake news’.
“There is no substitute for the truth. Always make sure you verify your facts with knowledgeable sources so that you become sources of reliable information. If you manage to make an audio or video recording and take pictures that would good because such information speaks for itself,” said Maunganidze.
He, however, warned participants to be highly cautious when doing their work so that they do not compromise their security.
“Safety comes first and there is no story worth dying for. Where it is dangerous to take pictures and videos, please do not attempt to do so. There are always other ways of effectively doing the work without putting your safety in danger,” he said.local

Mapombi has a phobia for violence and that is the reason she doesn’t support this self-proclaimed biggest opposition party, MDC-T. The guys from MDC-T are so obsessed with violence that they even failed to respect the body of Morgan Tsvangirai when it was being buried.  They just love violence that they saw I fit to beat up Khupe, Mwonzora and Bhebhe at the funeral.
MDC is one party which is so obsessed with violence that thugs even travelled all the way from Harare and Masvingo province to beat up Khupe last year simply because she was objecting the idea of forming an alliance. Just over the weekend violence erupted again in Bulawayo. Hamunyare makaita seiko nhai vanhu veMDC-T. The party which claims to be the party of excellence has demonstrated beyond doubt that they cannot tolerate people with different views. Munhu wese anofanira kutoda Nelson Chamisa as president ukangotadza wotorohwa. Haunyengererwe aiwa, unoshagadwa.
That’s the MDC for you! No one must have opposing views unoroveswa maiwee-e and they would even label you mutengesi or a CIO kkkkkkkk nanaMapombiwo tava kungonzi maCIO simply because we say no to some of the stupid ideas they are trying to impose.  But you should understand people in MDC – they are not learned enough to understand constructive criticism.  And also, they do not have facts of the things they argue about so if they cannot convince you, they resort to beating as a way of forcing you to join them. Kkkkkkk even musikana chaiye angakuda wambomurova here?
Learn to charm and stop using force; otherwise you will continue to lose elections kusvika zvanaka muchingoti munobirwa.  The MDC must not be too much excited by the crowds it attracts in urban areas yofunga kuti they don’t need even Khupe to win elections kkkkkk go to rural areas and see how Zanu PF is pulling crowds there and you will realise that you need even Egypt Dzinemunenzva’s vote.
All political parties have youths so don’t be excited too much that Chamisa is youthful therefore, he will attract all the youths vote – musazvinyepera vechidiki veZanu will always vote for Zanu the same way youths from Mujuru will vote for Mujuru. I think Mapombi has done justice today by telling MDC the truth so that they won’t cry foul kana vadyiwa pachena.
But to vote for Zanu PF futiwo mahwani chaiwo. Ini hangu Mapombi ndoita mabayo nemunhikwi kana ndikavhotera Zanu PF. I stay here at Chitima eating rotten bananas nemaputi asina nzungu. I am learned just like others but ndinopfeka mamvemve because Zanu PF destroyed this country. What they forget is my father also died for this country.
Zanu PF must leave former Presiden Rober Mgabe alone. Matemadanda and his war vets must be educated that Mugabe’s benefits are constitutional and they are not there because of his loyalty to Zanu PF. If Mugabe decides to leave Zanu PF for New Patrioic Front (NPF), he is free to do so and he will continue to receive his full benefits as former president of Zimbabwe. We don’t want foolish talk by the war vets zvekutyisidzirana kuti Mugabe risks losing all the benefits because he decided to dump Zanu PF.
In as much as Mapombi doesn’t like Mugabe izvo zvekuti his benefits will be scrapped off because he has left Zanu PF for NPF is nonsensical. Yes, it’s nonsensical majaira vanhu veZanu kuda kungotyisidzira vanhu. War vets should know that they are no longer the majority. When they went to war they were still in their youthful stages like zvatiri iyezvino izvi isu vanaMapombi so tinyararirei zvenyu muti zii. Taimbokunyarai tichifunga kuti muchatinyarawo asi zvino ndaona kuti mava kutoenderera – leave Mugabe alone!
Whether Mugabe has 21 farms or not kana musati matora evamwe venyu variko kuZanu ikoko vane maFarm hobho hobho, aMugabe musabata. Lead by example not using the law to fix those with different views from yours. You must grow up. Kurai apa.
We want to know how many farms do the incumbent President ED owns. We also want to know how many farms each of the ministers have and if we find out that they have one each, then we are always ready to go kundotorera Mugabe. We are sick and tired nekubatwa kumeso neZanu PF ichingosunga vanhu on factional basis. Why is Mpofu not being arrested? Why?
Mr President, the voice of the people is the voice of God if I should borrow your words. Don’t ever say Mapombi haana kundinyeurira – if you continue with this kind of doing business chokwadi munonyadziswa nerusvava Chamisa uyo. Chamisa is even deadlier than Blessing Chebundo! Kkkkkkk hokoyo naChebundo! Kkkkkkk I am joking zvangu itai basa 100 days dzakadarika hatina kuona zvakabuda isu. Arrest Mpofu if you want to be the people’s hero – ndozvandaidira Mugabe kuti aiti akaona kuti munhu uyu haachadiwa nevanhu aimurasa zvake iye osara akachena. We want Mpofu arrested today. Also Zanu PF supporters must know that the benefits of a former president are constitutional and have nothing to do with one supporting the party. Ndosaka Tsvangirai akapiwa imba yekuHighlands – it was no because of Zanu PF but he was entitled to it as former prime minister.
Anyway, it is almost lunch time let me go ndindokanga hangu maputi angu for lunch. But before I go I want to salute Mugabe chimudhara chine nharo ichi vakomana kkkkkkk. Underrate NPF at your own peril, Mapombi can tell you kuti kuMashonaland ichatombokonzeresa chete. Manje MDC and NPP were looking forward to have votes from these disgruntled G40s muchaita sei manje because they will vote for NPF? Kkkkkkk mangosara mati bwai bwai semuroyi aedzerwa paguva. Before I go, can someone tell me kuti Mphoko ari seiko these days. It has been long asati amboitiburira scandal itsva. Is he in Zimbabwe or in Botswana? Wherever he is please tell him kuti Mapombi misses him big time. Mboko imboko!mapombi

Bikita minor helps boyfriend escape rape conviction

Brilliant Mukaro

BIKITA – A 13-year-old girl from Matsvange village under Chief Mazungunye in Bikita shocked the Bikita magistrate court when she told magistrate Caroline Tafira that she invited her 20-year-old boyfriend into her room, took off her clothes and asked him to have sex with her.
The minor showed vast knowledge of sexual matters as she confidently narrated her sexual encounter with her boyfriend.
The court was then convinced the incident was not her first sexual experience and acquitted the accused on the basis that she was the one who lured him.
Further doubts emerged as a medical report produced as exhibit in court showed that the minor had developed big breasts inconsistent with a young body unused to sexual activity.
It was the State’s case that on February 03, the minor (name supplied) invited Respect Mutsiki to her maternal grandparents’ house in the absence of the adults.
The minor then spread a mat and removed her panties and invited Mutsiki to come over for sex and Mutsiki complied.
The two where then caught red-handed by the minor’s maternal uncle who then reported the matter to the police leading to the arrest of Matsika.

Many rape cases being investigated, but beware of social media exaggerations: Ass Com Makedenge

0
Charles Matunga Magombedze

TellZim Reporter

MASVINGO – Assistant Commissioner (Crime) Masvingo, Assistant Commissioner Crispen Makedenge, has advised the public to be wary of exaggerated social media reports about a wave of rapes in the province, saying the police were working very hard to solve the genuine cases that have been reported.
Ass Com Makendenge made the remarks while briefing the local media in face of what he said were sensationalised reports of alleged violent rape incidences that have gone viral on social media especially WhatsApp.
“We urge members of the public to take some of the reports they see on WhatsApp with a pinch of salt. In actual fact, there are only five incidences of rape that we are investigating, and the circumstances may be different from what is being said on WhatsApp,” said Makedenge.
The police later caught Charles Matunga Magombedze, one of the prime suspects in the rape and murder of several women in Chivi district and elsewhere.
The suspected criminal was caught in a mountain near Mubheji business centre, Ngundu, with a pair of handcuffs, a pick, chicken knives, a slasher, two pots and a clay pot as well as various forms of sharp equipment most probably used for break-in purposes.
The suspect was also found in possession of female underwear suspected to belong to the women he raped.
Ass Com Makendenge thanked the community for assisting the police do their work leading to the arrest of the suspect.
Police were however still looking for two more suspects in connection with similar criminal acts in Chivi and other parts of the province.
One of the first suspect is Tarisayi Madzingo aka Zenda alias Dread of Chasiya village under Headman Masunda, Chivi district, in connection with the crimes.
The other suspects who was also still on the run is Talkmore Dumbu of Chanyungunya village under Chief Charumbira, Masvingo rural district.
Ass Com Makedenge urged journalists to take a leading role in dispelling social media falsehoods and half-truths by reporting effectively on the truth on the ground.
“The public is panicking unnecessarily so we want our newspapers and radio to do their jobs effectively so that the people can know what really is happening.
“We also rely on information that we get from the community, we appeal to anybody with information that can help in the investigation to assist us,” he said.top news

Mwenezi police hunt for fugitive school head

0

Abel Hlungwani

Cephas Shava

MWENEZI – Police have launched a manhunt for Chemvana Secondary head, Abel Hlungwani who recently went missing after learning that auditors were on their way to audit school funds, TellZim News has learnt.
Repeated efforts to get a comment from Hlungwani himself were fruitless as his mobile went on voicemail.
His WhatsApp account, however, was active by the time of writing, with his status updated to ‘Stronger than before’.
District Schools Inspector (DSI) Luckson Zanamwe confirmed Hlungwani’s continued absence from work place.
“We made efforts to try to locate him and we even visited his home area in Chesvingo under Chief Chitanga but his whereabouts are still a mystery.
Last Friday (March 2), we filed a report at Mwenezi Police Station and the matter is being handled there,” said Zanamwe.
The district education office also tried to locate Hlungwani with the help of his close relatives but to no avail, with his own wife said to be claiming that she only knows that her husband is at work.
Hlungwani fled his work place early last month after he was told that auditors were on their way to the school.
He left school claiming he was going to collect a bank statement and when his deputy phoned to tell him the auditors had arrived, he reportedly said he was on his way back but never did.
The auditors spent the whole day at the school waiting for but he only returned discreetly and took away all his property from the school house.local

Knives drawn at MDC candidate selection meeting

…plot to oust sitting councillors exposed

Upenyu Chaota

MASVINGO – The Nelson Chamisa-led Movement for Democratic Change (MDC-T) last week showed its violent side yet again when nasty factional politics played out at its provincial headquarters in Rhodene during the selection of Masvingo Urban council candidates.
When it became apparent that the process was marred by irregularities, some disgruntled party members pulled knives out of their pockets while others engaged in fist fights.
The selection of prospective councillors was supposed to be done by consensus but it all degenerated into chaos after hordes of party mobs thronged the venue even though they had no business being there.
When candidate selection is done by consensus, only the aspiring candidates the wards sit and agree on who should stand but should they fail to agree, the party would go for primaries.
Out of the 10 wards in Masvingo Urban district,  Wards 1, 2, 5, 7, 8 and 9 were decided – albeit controversially – with new names like Selina Maridza, Collen Maboke, Alex Mupfugami, Tafara Masimba and Martin Mureri coming on board for the wards respectively.
Ward 9 went back to Babylon Beta who is the sitting councillor.
Wards 3, 4, 6 and 10 were left to be decided on another day with reports that it will be done this coming Saturday, March 10.
MDC-T Masvingo district chairperson, Murangamwa Chanyau dismissed complaints about how the process was handled, saying losers are often bitter.
“We have called for consensus and it was done amicably. We looked at who has the people and that was the person went for. We will be done with all the wards by the end of the week,” said Chanyau.
Asked if they are following the party election template, Chanyau admitted the template is not always used.
“We do not follow the template blindly because what we need at the end of the day are the people. We fight from the corner of the people. If people say they want someone, then we have to go for that person regardless of what the template may say. We are guided by the template but at the end of the day, people have the final say,” said Chanyau.
MDC-T Masvingo district secretary general, Faustino Murambatsvina is said to have been assaulted when he tried to impose Mupfugami as the candidate during the selection of the Ward 5 candidate.
The plot to oust all the sitting Masvingo Urban councillors who have represented MDC-T with some remarkable distinction since 2013 has so far spared only Beta whom the faction of new comers, reportedly financed by Takanayi Mureyi, reportedly wants to use to airbrush its plot.
Mureyi, however, denied employing dirty tactics to get his own ‘boys’ as candidates and trying to capture the whole selection process.
“At the end of the day, people talk but they have to apportion the blame onto somebody else. I do not have the power to influence people’s decisions but as a party, we follow proper candidate-selection channels.
“We first go for consensus and if that fails, we then go for primaries. I heard there was violence at the selection process which is unfortunate. All the election processes are guided by the party election template,” said Mureyi
Masvingo has for long been locked in factional wars between Mureyi and Tongai Matutu, both of whom want to represent the party as candidates for the Masvingo Urban parliamentary seat.
Mureyi is said to enjoy vast support in the party’s district and provincial structures but lacks the grassroots support that Matutu has.top news

More glory for Ndarama High School

Shirley Makausi

Clever Taperamoyo

MASVINGO – “I am satisfied,” is all that Ndarama High head Shirley Makausi could say after her school obtained a whopping 83.8 percent pass rate in the November 2017 ‘O’ level examinations.
Out of the 297 candidates that sat for the examinations at Ndarama High School, 84 emerged with five As and above.
Last year, the school recorded a 76.2 percent pass rate, meaning the pass rate has improved by almost eight percentage points, just in line with the school’s motto of beating its previous best.
When asked for a comment, Makausi was nearly at a loss for words and could simply say the community should pass its own judgement on the work that is being done at the school.
“The writing is there in the open for everyone to read. Our results speak volumes of the work we are doing. We get better each year and the sky is the limit,” said Makausi.
Ndarama High School has consistently lived up to its commitment to always improve on what it has achieved, and has become the best day school in Masvingo province in terms of both academic excellence and the quality of its learning facilities.education

Most of the pupils at Fern Valley Academy who sat for their ‘O’ level examinations last year obtained five subjects and above, with the highest achiever being Yeukai Chiwewe who got an A, 5 Bs and 3 Cs.
Seven candidates sat for their examinations at Fern Valley Academy, a private school opened two years ago and situated in the expansive new suburb of Victoria Ranch.
Besides the high flying Yeukai, other pupils who made their marks are Primrose Mawire; 3 Bs and 3 Cs, Mitchel Masendeke; 2 Bs and 4 Cs, Kuzivaishe Munodawafa; one B and 5 Cs and Mirindah Mugare; one B and 3 Cs.
Fern Valley director Tsungai Mufamba said she was pleased the school had made notable progress in the relatively short time of its existence.
“We are putting emphasis on the quality of the results we produce. Our children who sat for their examinations last year were our second exam class and they have done well to market the school as a place with quality learning methods are employed. We will work tirelessly so that more parents can see the advantages of enrolling their children with Fern Valley Academy,” said Mufamba.
Fern valley opened its doors in January 2016 and has registered a steady rise in its enrollment levels as more people become aware of the school’s quality learning facilities, individual-oriented instruction techniques as well as its low pupil/teacher ratio rules.education
