Zaka – A group of five locally-based dancehall artists are taking Zaka schools by storm by giving door to door shows at secondary schools in the district for a very small fee.
Calling themselves the SwaGman Team, the artistes have already done two shows at Zaka and at Chinorumba high schools.
They are also scheduled to do another show this weekend at St Anthony High which is expected to be the last before the school term ends.
Speaking to TellZim News, the group’s leader and producer, Kainos Musara aka Gun Barrel said they have decided to do shows at schools to grow their fan base before they can test outside waters.
“The shows are meant to grow our fan base as we have discovered that most of our fans are school children. We have decided to bring them our music right to their door steps,” said Musara
With a clearance from the district education office, SwaGman Team said the reception they are receiving from the schools is more overwhelming than they had ever anticipated.
“Some schools have invited us after the successful show at Zaka High but we will only be able to visit them next term because we have a tight schedule and the school term is about to end,” added Musara.
Musara owns Village 18 studio in Jerera which is helping many ambitious young artistes advance their dreams.
Zaka High School pupils who spoke to this publication after the show at their school said the group was made up of talented artistes who are inspiring other youngsters.
Meanwhile, the group has received a boost after they were invited to give entertainment at the upcoming district provincial Heroes Day celebrations.
Other team members include Nyasha Chitumwa aka Laden Vybes, Pride Shara aka Seh Selectah.
