February 2, 2017 – Masvingo – In a movie like style, four armed robbers who were on board an AA motors cross border bus masquerading as passengers, jumped from their seats armed with pistols some 10 km before Ngundu and sprayed unknown substance on passengers and went on to take cell phones, money and other valuables from them.

The incident happened at around 0300hrs today (February 2, 2017).

Reliable sources from the police who spoke to TellZim News said the bus left Beitbridge border post at around midnight with nothing seeming wrong.

“As the bus was about to reach Ngundu, four passengers jumped from their seats armed with pistols and ordered everyone to remain in their seats while the other two robbers sprayed some unknown substance on the passengers.

“All the passengers complied with the directive including the driver who was ordered to keep driving,” said the source.

The robbers are said to have ordered passengers to bring out money, cell phones and other valuables and surrender to them.

After having searched the passengers, the robbers ordered the bus driver to stop the bus and to go and file a police report.

A report was filed at Masvingo Central Police Station on Thursday morning and investigations are said to be underway.

Masvingo police spokesperson Inspector Charity Mazula was not reachable for a comment.news
