PWDs call for inclusivity in Disability Bill deliberations

By Decide Nhendo

Persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Masvingo have called on government to include them in all developmental projects, policy making and other important national issues.
This emerged from a Disability Bill meeting that was held at Charles Austin Theatre by two Members of Parliament (MPs) representing PWDs, Senators Anna Shiri and Ishmael Zhou, who were raising awareness on the Bill.
Speaking at the meeting, National Council of Disabled Persons of Zimbabwe chairperson Tavengwa Mazhambe said the bill should include PWDs in all social welfare and government grants despite their location as there were some instances where PWDs in urban areas where being excluded.
“The bill must give merit to all PWDs so that they can get access to social welfare and government grants regardless of where one lives especially in disasters like this El Nino induced droughts, because I heard that social welfare was only targeting PWDs in rural areas, excluding those living in urban areas,” said Mazhambe.
Disability Amalgamation Community Trust Executive Director Henry Chivhanga said the disability bill must give capacitation to PWDs so that they can be able to work for their own progress and development.
He said commissioners who were to represent PWDs should not be selected within groups, associations, or political parties as those affiliated to specific political parties can sideline others.
“This bill must give PWDs power to make their own projects for better living conditions.
“Commissioners who are going to represent PWDs must not be taken from certain political parties, associations or groups, but they are supposed to be individuals driven by zeal to stand for all PWDs,” said Chivhanga.
One attendee Godfrey Mutimba said there was need for PWDs representatives in quotas like youth and women since PWDs were more vulnerable compared to the other groups who have been lately represented.
Mutimba said there was supposed to be a representative in parliament where laws are enacted to make sure that issues PWDs face are put into consideration.
“The disability bill must include issues like a quota system because we only have youth and women quotas of which all these groups are not vulnerable like PWDs, hence there is need for representation of the PWDs just like the other groups deemed to be defenseless.
“For our issues to be prioritized, there is need for PWDs representatives in national assembly since the house is where all laws and policies are made, having representatives there will be an advantage to us because they will come up with bills and policies to us,” said Mutimba.
Mutimba also added that when the bill is to be presented to PWDs in May, it was supposed to be translated into all indigenous languages so that everyone, including those who do not understand English will not be vexed by complexity of its legal contents.
Senator Anna Shiri said they had been engaging PWDs and stakeholders across the nation for deliberations on the Disability Bill, and she added there was need for more representatives as they were only two in the whole country.
She said PWDs should stand for themselves and come up with ideas through debates especially when national issues were being discussed and presented so that they will be included in policy making, developmental projects and other important national events.
“We have been meeting with PWDs and other stakeholders from around the country, it is clear that we need more representatives to stand for PWDs as currently we are only two people.
“PWDs must stand for themselves and this meeting presents a platform for you to come up with ideas so you can be included in national policy making as well as important national events which include developmental projects,” said Shiri.

Presidential pardon beneficiaries kill father, injured in mob attack

By Tinaani Nyabereka

Two unrepentant brothers from Gokwe who fatally assaulted their father on April 23, 2024, for reporting them to the police escaped death by a whisker after they were also brutally attacked by a mob over past disputes.
Midlands Provincial Police Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the case and said suspects were in police custody at Gokwe South Hospital while police have launched the manhunt for the 10 member gang that meted instant justice on the two brothers.
“We are appealing for information that may assist in the arrest of the 10 member group which attacked the two brothers and we further appeal to members of the public to respect the sanctity of human life by not engaging in violence as a way of solving disputes,” said Mahoko.
Circumstances are that the two suspects, Evans Mupamhanga (25) and Elvis Mupamhanga (21) both of farm 21, Chemagora area Gokwe South were recently released from Gokwe prison under the Presidential amnesty where they had been imprisoned for possessing an illegal firearm.
On the fateful day, the suspects were at home together with their parents Kennedy Mupamhanga and Monica Mupamhanga when they had a misunderstanding over an issue involving not filling up the jojo tank at their home with water.
The two brothers left their parents’ house after the altercation and proceeded to their father’s young brother, Forever Sikochi’s homestead of the same farm and quizzed him on why he had not filled up the tank. A misunderstanding ensued over the issue and the suspects force-marched Sikochi towards Kwekwe- Gokwe road threatening to kill him.
While on their way, the trio met Kennedy following them and suddenly held the latter whom they informed that they wanted to settle the issue of a firearm which he had previously reported to the police against them. The duo then escorted both Kennedy and Sikochi back to the latter’s homestead.
At around 1900 hours, Evans instructed Elvis to bring an axe so that they could torture their father over the firearm issue. On hearing this, Sikochi fled the scene leaving behind his brother Kennedy in the hands of his two sons. The suspects took turns to strike their father using an axe and stones several times on the head until he died.
After the heinous act, the suspects teamed up and went to their uncle, Job Mupamhanga’s (76) home to inform him of the murder they had committed. As they were explaining to Job what they had done to their father, a gang of about 10 unknown people entered into the house armed with axes, machetes and knobkerries.
They went on to attack the two brothers over a previous dispute, striking them all over their bodies until they became unconscious after which they vanished to an unknown destination. Sikochi later on returned with the police and found his brother already dead. After a few minutes he received a call from his father, Job informing him of what had transpired at his homestead.
The police reacted swiftly and found both Evans and Elvis badly injured. The two were rushed to Gokwe South District Hospital where they are in police custody and are both in serious conditions. The deceased’s body was taken to the same hospital.

Land scandal: Chiredzi RDC dramatically drags Town Council in mud

…Former resolves to exonerate self from FLOAAI’s land development deal

By Beatific Gumbwanda

CHIREDZI-In a sudden twist of events, Chiredzi Rural District Council (CRDC) recently dropped a bombshell by dumping its partner, Chiredzi Town Council (CTC) in Madanyaya’s Full Life Open Arms Africa Investment (FLOAAI) land chaos on the remainder of 750 hectare Joint venture housing project. Chiredzi RDC cited some irregularities and breach of contract by the developer which the later seems to be okaying.
FLOAAI did a feasibility study for the 750 hectares on the remainder of Buffalo Range meant for urban expansion and was mandated to develop 350ha phase 1 and hand it over to Chiredzi Town and Rural District Councils, who are currently on a joint venture on the piece of land.
FLOAAI Director, Pastor Godfrey Nelson Madanyaya had allegedly seized the project and had been selling stands to desperate home seekers in Chiredzi. He is said to have threatened the councils by name dropping President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s name as well as Minister July Moyo to be the owners of the project, while allegedly defrauding people.
Madanyaya, whose list accrued to more than 1000 people including the Zimbabwe Teachers Association (ZIMTA) affiliates, had been selling stands at the cost of US$20.61 per square meter, with one supposed to make a deposit of US$1500 and pay the remaining balance in instalments over a period of four years. A non-refundable fee of US$50 was required in order to open a file with FLOAAI.
FLOAAI even went on to physically show ZIMTA affiliates their stands, which they had been directly contributing to through the Salary Services Bureau (SSB) but were never given offer letters to indicate ownership of the stands.
Chiredzi Town Council (CTC) and Chiredzi Rural District Council (CRDC) through the Joint Venture Committee, reached a stalemate as the latter argued that they should terminate Madanyaya’s contract over several breaches while the former was in tandem with FLOAAI’s developments which led the latter to make a resolution to part ways with the developer and to share land, the remainder of 750ha of Buffalo range Housing Project equally.
Giving a presentation during a full council meeting recently, Alderman Mashulani, who is the Chairperson of the Roads and Planning Committee outlined that the committee had resolved to terminate contract with FLOAAI as well as Town council, and stand alone on developing the remainder of 750 ha of Buffalo Range Housing project.
“That Council terminates the contract with FLOAAI on the developments of the remainder of 750ha of Buffalo Range Housing project. That Chiredzi RDC and Town Council proceed with developments of the remainder of 750ha Buffalo Range Housing project separately. That Chiredzi RDC and Chiredzi Town Council proceed in developing the remainder of the 750ha Buffalo Range Housing Project on its own or to engage a new developer,” read Mashulani.
Efforts to get a comment from Madanyaya were futile as he was not answering his cell by time of getting to print.
The land in question was jointly awarded to Chiredzi Town Council and Chiredzi Rural District Council for the development of 750ha of Buffalo Range Housing Project. FLOAAI was engaged to develop this land; works including roads, water reticulation, sewer and registration of layout plans.
FLOAAI then managed to produce the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), and were supposed to be giving reports every time to the joint venture committees which it failed. They also went on to borrow a loan from the bank and the councils were not aware of the amount borrowed from the bank.
The two councils are parting ways towards the development of the remainder of 750 ha Buffalo Range Housing project as Chiredzi Town Council is being blamed for delaying progress as they wanted to continue working with FLOAAI as their developer and they were not committed whenever a meeting was arranged as a joint committee.

Zanu PF youth leader press counter charge of attempted murder to former Mayor Maboke

…Mandebvu files attempted murder charges against Maboke

By Courage Dutiro

In a dramatic turn of events, Zanu PF Masvingo Provincial Youth leader Delight Mandebvu, who was involved in a road rage incident on the night of March 2, 2024, with former Masvingo City Council Mayor Collen Maboke recently filed attempted murder charges alleging he was hit by the latter’s vehicle, not by any other vehicle as had been reported.
Mandebvu who is said to be facing three counts of assault and one of negligent driving was admitted at Masvingo Provincial Hospital after suffering a broken leg.
After the incident, Maboke who contested in the August 23, 2023 elections as an independent candidate for Masvingo Urban constituency said on a fateful night their vehicles which were going in different directions sideswiped before the vehicle Mandebvu was traveling in made a U-turn, blocked Maboke’s car which was being driven by his wife, disembarked and started assaulting the former mayor, his wife as well as another passenger who was in the car.
However, giving his side of the story after 2 months of recovering from leg injuries, Mandebvu on May 2, 2024, told TellZim News that on the fateful night, they were on their way back from a meeting in Masvingo, when he pulled over at a lay-by near Chicken Shack food outlet to make some private calls.
“I was driving from Masvingo where we had a meeting, with my team. As we were heading towards Chicken Shack, I stopped at a lay-by near the food outlet. I alighted from the car to make some calls.
“While I was on the phone, my team complained that they were hungry since we had left Masvingo without eating. I gave them money to get food and told them I would follow or they could pick me up when they were done,” said Mandebvu.
He went on to say, Maboke who was on his way from Nyika, with a three-car convoy spotted his car turning into the food outlet. They stormed the car, expecting to find him, but only saw his team inside, smashed the rearview mirror, and fled the scene.
“Maboke was driving from Nyika, he had a convoy of three cars. When they saw my car turning to the food outlet, they blocked it. They opened the doors of my car and saw that I wasn’t there. They then took the car keys, broke the rearview mirror and left. While all this happened, I was still at the lay-by making calls,” said Mandebvu.
He also said that as the Mabokes continued their journey, they saw him still at the lay-by and stopped and Maboke tried to cross the road towards him on foot but went back in the car reversed towards him and he was hit in the process.
“After the brawl with my team, they spotted me and stopped, reversed and Maboke got out of the vehicle, which his wife was driving. He tried to cross the road to where I was. I then told him that I was on a call. He returned to the car; they reversed again and I was hit in the process after which I fell unconscious,” Mandebvu said.
Mandebvu further said a Mercedes-Benz driven by a teacher from Mutendi High School arrived at the scene and stopped to help but was attacked by Maboke and team before they sped away.
He also said when they heard that he had been taken to a clinic in Nyika, Maboke and his group followed him there and became violent.
“The team I was with in the car called my wife to inform her about what had happened. After they heard I was taken to a clinic in Nyika, Maboke and his companions followed me there. At the clinic, they assaulted my wife after she queried them about what had happened.
“They even assaulted the nurse on duty and my mother, who had arrived after my wife called her and all this information was recorded at the police station near the clinic in Nyika growth point,” Mandebvu said.
Mandebvu is set to appear in court next week for assault and negligent driving.
Maboke however has a different version of the incident, in which he said that after their vehicles sideswapped, Mandebvu and his companions assaulted him, and during the brawl, a car approached the scene but failed to brake on time before it overturned. Yet another car also approached the scene, failed to brake, and hit Mandebvu who was reportedly in the middle of the road, seriously injuring him in the process.
“I was coming from my rural home in Bikita with my family, my wife was driving while I slept. My wife told me that around the Mbungo area, we met another vehicle that was driving towards Nyika growth point and we sideswiped. After that, the vehicle that we had sideswiped within which Mandebvu was in made a U-turn, followed us and blocked the road. Mandebvu and the other occupants from his car then came to us and started assaulting my wife who was in the driver’s seat,” Maboke said.
He further said during the commotion, he was woken up after being hit by a bottle on his face.
“As I was trying to understand what had happened I was hit by a bottle on my face. At that moment a third vehicle arrived at the scene and tried to brake but overturned. As we were still talking a fourth vehicle which was travelling behind the third one arrived, failed to brake, and hit Mandebvu,” said Maboke.
He also said he narrowly avoided the impact by jumping away, escaping the accident by a whisker.
“We could have been hit together but I managed to jump from where I was standing,” he said.
Maboke said he sustained teeth and mouth injuries while his wife also sustained some significant injuries.

Masvingo City takes home ZITF top award

By Beverly Bizeki

In a stunning display of creativity and innovation, Masvingo City Council wowed both judges and visitors alike at the just-ended 64th edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) winning the coveted Best Exhibit in Civic Participation Category award.
Masvingo City Mayor and Ward 4 Councilor Alec Tabe told TellZim News that the local authority was ahead in terms of using digital technologies to improve service delivery which is most likely what stood out in the competition.
“The judges looked at innovations that councils were doing in line with the theme “Innovation: The Catalyst to Industrialization and Trade. I believe what stood out most on our stand is both digital aspects and how the council is promoting trade and industrialization in Masvingo including aspects like tourism, zoning, and allocation of stands as well as investment opportunities.
“We have introduced online platforms for payment of bills as well as application and allocation of stands among others. The judges went through the local authorities’ checking technological advancements and we were probably the best.
“As a city, we are happy with the performance as this is the second award that we have gotten this year with our Town Clerk Engineer Edward Mukaratirwa having received the top award for best performance in urban local authorities. These are indicators that our city is performing well in terms of providing services to residents,” said Tabe.
Tabe said online payment platforms were coming in handy in terms of revenue collection while online application and allocation of stands increase transparency and efficiency.
“The online payment platforms improve revenue collection, they decongest people at our centres while enabling our clients to pay for services in the comfort of their homes. The online waiting list’ platform there is increased transparency as selection for qualification is done automatically, it can check whether one owns properties or not, it can conduct an individual selection of names on the waiting list,” said Tabe.
The ZITF 2024 edition was held under the theme “Innovation: The Catalyst to Industrialization and Trade” which showed that innovation, industrialization, and trade are key forces in economic growth and progress.
The 2024 edition which ran from April 23 to 27 was officially opened by Kenyan President William Ruto.
Masvingo City boasts of other services such as smart parking, smart markets, Geographical Information Systems (GIS), E-business licensing, smart water meter reading and system-generated payment plans.
The local authority is reveling in glory as recently Masvingo Town Clerk Engineer Edward Mukaratirwa won a presidential best-performing town clerk for urban local authorities’ award.

Three Masvingo ‘money changers’ in court

By Beverly Bizeki

Three alleged forex dealers in Masvingo appeared separately before Masvingo Magistrate Elizabeth Hanzie on April 30, 2024, for contravening the exchange control regulations SI 109/1996 under the operation ‘No to illegal foreign currency dealers’ and were remanded in custody to May 14 for continuation of trial.
The three, Moses Garauzive (37), Tendai Mugabe (44), and Wilson Gumepi (48) were arrested separately on April 29 for unlawfully and dealing intentionally in foreign currency without the approval of the central bank, the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe.
Garauzive was arrested at Belmont Spar Supermarket after being approached by police details while calling out “tinochinja mari nerate yakanaka (we exchange money at a good rate)”. He was found with US$163 and four bank cards.
Mugabe was arrested at Mucheke Rank on the same day under the same circumstances and was found in possession of US$51, R410, and ZWL500 for sale. Gumepi was also arrested at Mucheke Rank while he was displaying US$30 for sale.
Efforts to get statistics of the blitz in Masvingo were futile as the Provincial Police Spokesperson referred questions to the National Police Spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi who said there were no specific statistics for the provinces the operation was centralized.
“This is a centralized operation being done by the police and the central bank. There is no categorization of provinces,” said Nyathi.
The crackdown on illegal forex dealers started recently after the introduction of the new ZiG currency and a number of these alleged forex dealers have been arrested across the country.
Analysts have however said the clampdown on the illicit forex was not a lasting solution for the ongoing economic crisis. Progressive Teacher’s Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) president Dr Takavafira Zhou said the government Shouldwork on building trust among citizens arguing that even the government had no confidence in the new currency.
“The arrest of forex dealers is unfair and ill-conceived and focuses on the symptoms rather than addressing the real problem that has led to their rise. What we need is realist economic and financial prudence based on frugality and thrift rather than political expediency.
“A currency’s acceptability and durability is based on trust and production. Currently, there is no trust in the ZiG currency and no production as Zimbabwe has become a large supermarket for products from outside. A currency cannot be enforced but must earn the trust from the citizens which ZiG has not.
“The streets may be clean but it does not mean the change money members are not there. They have temporarily abandoned the streets and are operating from their backyards. Soon even the police will give up their halfhearted attempts to enforce ZiG because they are also victims of the same currency. ZiG is ill-conceived and the earlier we go back to the basics of using the USD to rekit our industries so that we produce the better. A currency that has been rejected by the very government (in terms of taxes, buying fuel, duty, etc.) that wants citizens to accept it, has no traction. Mai vepi vanobika sadza ravanoti rinonaka ravasingadye,” said Dr Zhou.
The ZiG was introduced on April 8, trading at 13.56 to USD but lost its value on the black market in less than two weeks as the illicit forex dealers were now trading at 20.
Vice President Constantino Chiwenga recently issued a stern warning to illegal forex dealers and said strict measures will be put in place to curb exchange rate manipulation and over 100 people have been arrested so far.

Zaka Presidential fish heist: school gets 4.2k fingerlings

By Brighton Chiseva

ZAKA – The Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development through its deputy minister and Zaka Central legislator Davis Marapira restocked Chinorumba High School Presidential Fish Project with 4200 tilapia fingerlings to replace the 2000 fish that were stolen recently.
Marapira confirmed the latest development which happened on May 1 and said security measures were put in place to avoid the situation where 500kgs of fish is alleged to have been stolen saying the fish will be ready for harvest by November.
“My Ministry, (the Ministry of Lands Agriculture Fisheries Water and Rural Development) restocked 4 200 fingerlings yesterday (May 1, 2024). Security measures have been put in place and we are expecting a harvest of 2 000kgs of fish by November 2024,” said Marapira.
Marapira said the Chinorumba Presidential Fish Project was part of the national development programme that will see several schools and communities getting solar-powered boreholes, community gardens, and fish ponds.
“The 4 200 fingerlings are under the Presidential Development Program, a national development agenda that is going to industrialize and develop all our Rural communities by providing 35 000 solar-powered Presidential boreholes, 35 000 Presidential Community One hectare gardens, 70 000 Presidential Fish Ponds, 960 Presidential Boreholes to Schools, with gardens and fish ponds. 4000 Presidential solar-powered boreholes, gardens, and 8 000 fish ponds to our wards for the Presidential Youth Development,” said Marapira.
The thieves who pounced at Chinorumba High School harvested approximately 500kgs of fish from the school fish pond. The school benefited from the program earlier last year (2023) as part of the preparations for hosting one of the most subscribed Zanu PF rallies in the run-up to the 2023 harmonized election.
The circumstances on how the 500kgs of fish disappeared without trace at a school with a security guard remains a mystery and when the school head Nixon Bhenyu confirmed the incident theft he said he could not divulge more and referred questions to the District Schools Inspector Samson Chidzurira.
Chidzurira confirmed having received the report from the school and said he was told that around 500kgs of fish were stolen and a police report was made but could not shed more on how the incident happened.
“I don’t have intricate details of what really happened but the school head informed me of the incident and the matter has since been reported to the police,” said Chidzurira.
Several people believe the incident could have been an inside job with some members of staff being involved and also that the fish may have been stolen over a long period for it was difficult to steal such a big number of fish.
However, the incident is not new to the area as in July 2021, one fish farmer from Chinorumba area in Muhope Village under Chief Nhema was left counting losses when he lost close to 2000 breams from thieves whom he suspected to have used nets to harvest from his fish pond.

A Masvingo based film producer is working on a mainstream film that is set to be a talk of the country when it is going to be premiered as it features a number of prominent local people and interesting settings from Zimbabwe and South Africa.
Speaking to TellZim News, the Speed Thrill film producer Kudakwashe Zoromera said the film was aimed at exploring problems on the African continent like surging organized crimes and corruption. It is inspired by Marcus Garvey’s United States of Africa poem and the rise of organized crime in Africa.
“Speed Thrill is a mainstream film that is going to look deeply into African problems from an African perspective. The film is going to try to investigate the rise of organized crimes on the continent as well as surging corruption cases without answers.
“The film is still at the preproduction stage and is going to be the first mainstream film of its kind, not to look down upon Neria and other films,” said Zoromera.
Zoromera said the main themes in the film included family, Christianity, crime and corruption.
“The film has themes like corruption, family and crime which are deeply rooted within institutions in most of African states,” he said.
Zoromera said through the film, he wanted to advocate for a fight against corruption and drug abuse, to paint a picture of the power of unity to African countries as well as advocate for Ubuntu.
“We want people to be aware of the effects of corruption, drug abuse, power of unity among African countries, and the value of Ubuntu in their lives,” said Zoromera.
Zoromera told this publication that the film features many artists from different artistic disciplines including boxing, athletics, acting, and soccer as well as popular actors who participated in prominent films like Gonarezhou and award-winning veteran actors.
“Actors who are going to act in this film include, international soccer player Ovidy Karuru, world-titled boxer Charles Manyuchi, and multiple gold-winning Elliot Mjaji.
“Award-winning veteran actor Jazz Marabini, Jojola of the Vharazipi fame Chris Kubvedzi, Shaun Taylor who acted on 11 pm, and actresses from Hollywood’s best Pan African award winning Gonarezhou Film.
“Musicians from different music disciplines who include veteran hip hop artist Eddie Clique, award-winning and veteran musician Frank Hari and many other artists.
“Many actors who featured on different TV series like Amakorokoza, Tiriparwendo best theatre actors and actresses like Presley Chweneyagae from Oscar award winner Tsotsi,” said Zoromera.
He said trailer shots are to be shot in Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Madagascar.
“Trailer shots are to start in Zimbabwe where we are supposed to have 18 shots in Victoria Falls, Gweru, Masvingo, Harare, Bulawayo, Beitbridge, Birchenough Bridge, and Vumba with other two shots to take place in South Africa and Madagascar,” he said.
People must expect fireworks since the film is centred on people’s emotions with the producer being an experienced artist who has been in the industry since 2011 and experienced actors who have already made it in the film industry.
The film trailer is set to begin in June with production targeted for December but Zoromera said there are many challenges like lack of equipment, and it also being demanding as some sets are to be done in South Africa and Madagascar.
He said for production, nearly US$50 000 to US$80 000 is needed which is quite a huge amount.
The film producer has worked on various works of art including Chikwambo which premiered on ZBC TV and is doing other youth empowerment campaigns, and music production.
Updates on the film can be found on the Speed Thrill Facebook page titled Speed Thrill Film Project Africa and the team is looking forward to creating a website.

Masvingo gospel artist releases three songs

By Decide Nhendo

Masvingo-based gospel artist Norman Mhuka has dropped a singles collection comprising of three songs which he said are aimed to preach the gospel and urge people to do the will of God to receive rewards followed by obedience.
Mhuka who goes to Harvest House International church dropped his singles collection with three songs namely Ngoni Dzenyu, Cain and Muchinda Werugare all derived from the scriptures.
Speaking to TellZim News, Mhuka said he aimed to preach the word of God through his music to make people aware of blessings they can get from diligent hearkening to the Maker’s teachings.
“I want to impact people to change their ways of living so that they listen and understand the word of God for a better change.
“Through my music, people will be aware that there are many great rewards if one walks in God’s ways,” said Mhuka.
Mhuka said he derived his motivation to compose gospel songs in sermons from different pastors and bible reading which sharpened his zest to become a gospel musician.
“I got motivation to be a gospel singer through attending church services where I listened to sermons from various pastors, and from reading the bible,” said Mhuka.
Mhuka said he was happy at the way his singles were being received and appreciated by people and he said it pushes him to do more.
“I am happy because people are receiving my songs well, including songs from my inception in 2018, and that reception pushed me to release these three and will continue doing more,” said Mhuka.
He said in 2018, he composed nine songs but Covid-19 affected him and he failed to produce the album.
In 2020 he managed to record his 2018 debut called Samatenga with Raven Studios, a local recording studio in Masvingo.
Mhuka said financial constraints were a major setback to his artistic endeavor, which caused him not to compose in 2021, and in 2022 released one track titled Zita Rake, in which he was glorifying God.
He also said he started the three-song singles collection project in 2023, and since song composing is a time-consuming artistic work, he managed to release the songs this year, in April.
Mhuka said he was happy because his son Wizdom Mhuka was already following in his footsteps and was recording music with local studios.
“I am happy because my son has already started to record his songs featuring some local artists and it is every parent’s wish to see his children learning from him.
“What excites me is his potential, because I have noted that if he focuses he can reach far with his talent,” he said.
