Daring robbers raze down security wall, rob fuel mogul

0

Tafadzwa Masunda

Six armed robbers yesterday,
November 12, attacked the eastern side of fuel mogul Phillip Mapfumo’s Rhodene house
before forcibly gaining entry to rob him of US$5300 and 500 South African
rands, TellZim News has learnt.

According to Masvingo police, the
incident happened at around 20:00hrs along Cary Street where Mapfumo,
popularly known as Fidza, was relaxing with his family.

“We have since launched a manhunt
for the robbers and we appeal to anybody with information that may lead to the
arrest of suspects to come forward. We urge people to bank their money to avoid
attracting the interest of robbers,” said Masvingo provincial police
spokesperson, Chief Inspector Charity Mazula.

Details are that some of the
robbers got into the house through the front door which was not locked while
others stood guard in the yard.

The robbers, three of whom were armed
with a rifle, a pistol and a spear; seized Mapfumo’s 16-year-old daughter and
forced her to lead them to her father’s bedroom.

They shot down the bedroom door
and demanded money from Mapfumo, owner of DocZine fuel stations, who then handed them the cash after which they
escaped through the eastern side.

The victim then phoned the police
who arrived when the robber had already made good of their escape.

Row over Mushaya headmanship

0

Farai Munerei

Brighton Chiseva

ZAKA – The replacement of
headman Mushaya has sparked serious infighting within the Munereyi family as
father and son are fighting for legitimacy.

There are three families entitled to the
Mushaya headmanship namely Munerei, Tavengwa and Chavurura and the outgoing
headman Jona Mugarajira from the Tavengwa family has been acting for over two years
as stipulated by the local government after the death of his father.

On rotational
basis, the headmanship is now going to the Munereyi family where father and son
are said to be at each other’s throat over who should take over.

On a meeting
held in June this year, the family had selected Farai Munerei as the candidate
after a poll which saw him garnering 34 votes out of 38 votes.

However, another
family member Wilson Nhongo who is an uncle to Farai is said to have connived
with the Machoga/Tavengwa house to denounce Munereyi’s selection arguing that
he was the eldest possible member to lead in the family.

Nhongo is alleged
to have gone to the acting chief Bota, Kamurai Zezai, and bribed him with a
herd of cattle so that he will rule in his favour.

Chief Bota
confirmed that there was an issue regarding the selection of headman Mushaya
but denied involvement and receiving anything saying those claiming that he was
bribed were only trying to soil his name.

“There are
squabbles in the selection of headman Mushaya.
I have since told the family involved that they should deliberate
peacefully and select a candidate whom they will present to me as their chief
then I will present the candidate to the District Development Coordinator (DDC)
formerly known as District Administrator (DA).

“Those saying I
was bribed are lying. I am yet to hear from,” said Zezai

Other sources
told TellZim News that Chief Bota was given an undisclosed number of cattle and
the cattle had been sending to him through Mudzara area to deceive the locals.

“On the first meeting held in June, the Mushaya
King Maker (Zigadzi) approved Munerei’s candidature after the poll but rumour
says they went and bribed Chief Bota with cattle and now they are starting over
again,” said the source.

Another meeting
has since been held at Mushaya School without the Munereyi family which sought
to reverse the June meeting.

When contacted
for comment Nhongo said he was the father and the throne was rightfully his
saying his elder brother’s sons cannot rule while he is still there or without
his blessing.

“I am the father
and no son can take the throne while I am still there. I even have my elder
brother who was supposed to take it but he has some previous issues so the
button then comes to me. If I want to give it to my sons then it’s up to me to
decide,” said Nhongo.

In many areas
chiefs are no longer selected in terms of age but mainly on political alignments
as well as the level of education as chiefs are now involved in many
development projects within their jurisdictions.

Vharazipi dismisses social media death hoax

0

Esther Tom

 Masvingo-based comedian David Mubaiwa,
popularly known as Sabhuku Vharazipi, has dismissed rumours to the effect that
he had died in a road traffic accident, TellZim News can report.

The social media
hoax, which began circulating on WhatsApp today, November 12, claimed that
Mubaiwa had died ‘on the road to Bulawayo when a Honda CRV he was travelling in
collided with a truck’.

“These are all falsehoods
being spread by people with malicious intent. I don’t even know what the people
circulating those insensitive rumours want to achieve. This is not the first
time this has happened as I also suffered similar falsehoods a few years ago,”
Mubaiwa told TellZim News by phone.

He said he was
alive and well at his home in the Zvamahande communal lands in Mashava.

Mubaiwa also said
he will continue to do the work he loves to do and ignore all the malicious
talk.

Border closures direful on nutrition, says Zcsosuna

GWERU – The
Zimbabwe Civic Society Organisations Scaling Up Nutrition Alliance (ZCSOSUNA) says
the coronavirus-induced lockdown movement restrictions which included the
closure of borders have had a severe negative impact on food security and
nutrition.

Addressing
members of the media at a meeting in Gweru, ZCSOSUNA national coordinator Kudakwashe  Zombe said the closure of borders had a serious
impact on food security since many citizens buy much of their groceries from
neighbouring countries.

“The
restrictions that were put in place by government on 30 March 2020 greatly
affected our food supply chain. This is because as a country, we greatly rely
on imports particularly on food and grain.

“Access
to food markets was a major challenge due to movement restrictions. This resulted
in the decline of the quality of nutrition especially among children since much
of the food consumed at home was not fortified,” said Zombe.

He
called upon the media and citizens to take issues of nutrition more seriously
as they have an effect of the health of communities.

“We
need to reverse the lack of information on nutrition. It is a serious issue
that many people are not giving as much thought as is necessary. Let us all
take up the food and nutrition advocacy to help government alleviate hunger and
malnutrition,” he said.

ZCSOSUNA
Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) officer Joel Chipfuwamuti said a recent
United Nations (UN) report reveals that over a third of the population of
children in African suffered from hunger and malnutrition.

He
said a position paper had been written to government on how Covid-19 impacted
food security while offering mechanisms of scaling up the national food
security system.

“As
an organisation, we did a position paper regarding the state and impact of Covid-19
and we hope to assist government efforts in addressing nutrition issues,” said Chipfuwamuti.

Gweru-based
senior journalist Locadia Mavhudzi said it was of paramount importance for the
media to be capacitated on the dissemination of food and nutrition information.

Gutu police shooting victim now using catheter

Sheunesu Chiwara

Moses
Ziyambi

Sheunesu Chiwara, the
young man who was shot in the groin by the police on September 18, is now using
a catheter to pass urine as his urethra was severely damaged by the shot, TellZim
News has learnt.

The 21-year-old Chiwara
was shot while at his home by a ‘violent’ police officer who was part of a team
investigating an assault case which had allegedly happened the previous night
at a local business centre in Bhasera, Gutu East.

His mother Stella
Mahachi told TellZim News that a relative had now taken her son to Harare for
better medical attention following initial surgery by Masvingo-based general surgeon
Dr Noel Zulu.

“He is now in Harare
where we hope for better medical care. It has been a difficult month for us but
we are hopeful. The doctors in Masvingo said he will have to use the catheter
for some and hopefully not forever,” said Mahachi.

Sheunesu
was shot point blank in the groin and his genital were injured after police
officer made follow-ups to an alleged case of assault which had happened the
previous day at Chomungai business centre.

After
Sheunesu was shot, police handcuffed him and Misheck and tried to march them to
Bhasera Police Station but later looked for a vehicle to take the injured
Sheunesu to Chimombe Hospital after he began losing a lot of blood.

Sheunesu
received initial treatment at Chimombe before being transferred to Gutu Mission
Hospital where he spent over 48 hours without being attended to by a doctor
because there was non available.

Sheunesu
and his brother Misheck maintain their innocence, arguing that that they did
not commit any assault on the day in question. They also claim the police
officers were unnecessarily aggressive when they visited the homestead to
question and arrest them.

Meanwhile,
police in Masvingo have refused to talk about the matter but an insider said
Constable Mudziro, who pulled the trigger, will not be charged as he invoked
duty privilege; claiming in an internal report that his team was under attack
from the victim.

artist United Pentecostal Ministries (UPM) Bishop Majaya and wife are set to
release an eight-track album titled “Kutapira Kweshoko” this coming weekend.

The
launch will take place at 1900 Saturday on WhatsApp and livestreaming at 1900hrs
on their Facebook page Pastor N&R Majaya on Sunday.

The
gospel couple, Bishop Nicholas and Rosemary Majaya known as Pastor N and R
Majaya has released a forerunner single titled covid-19 early this year.

Speaking
to TellZim, Mr and Mrs Majaya said they dropped the single as a teaser before
going to release their fourth album.

The
album has tracks such as Mufaro washe, Muri zvose, Mentor, Farira Kunamata and
the title track which Rosemary wrote.

The
couple previously had three albums named “Hope for Zimbabwe” released in 2002
with eight tracks, “Handingasare” released in 2007 with 12 tracks and “Magiredha”
released in 2017 with 6 tracks.

They
started to sing the gospel genre in 2002 and takes it as a part time basis.

and job balanced,” said the Masvingo-based Bishop.

They
said they have worked with Admire Nago on the album which they could not give
more details about him.

Mother
Majaya also said she once shared stage with Zimbabwe Female Gospel in 2018 at
Harare gardens.

They
bemoaned the economic situation prevailing in the country and COVID-19 saying
this had created an uneven playground, hence impending the growth of their
music.

‘Everything
needs money starting on recoding and marketing the music. Right now, we are not
able to hold a show because of the virus and we are launching it online,” said
Majaya.

Chisoro relishes Chevrons historic win

Tendai Chisoro

Blessed Chauke

Chevrons
senior player, Tendai Chisoro (32) has expressed his pleasure for being part of
the history making Chevrons squad which won over Pakistan on November 3, 2020
saying it was a dream come true.

The
current Chevrons squad made history by becoming the first crop of Zimbabwe
cricketers to beat Pakistan in their own backyard since 1998.

Chisoro
who plies his trade for Mid-West Rhinos in the local league, featured in the
starting lineup and displayed a fair performance during the third One Day
International (ODI) match.

Speaking
to TellZim News, Chisoro said it was a great milestone for him to be part of
the squad which defeated a team which has been a force to reckon on the
international cricket arena.

“Obviously for me it is a great feeling and a
dream come true to be part of a team which defeated a top ranked team in their
own backyard,” said Chisoro.

He
also said he appreciated the efforts displayed by the whole team throughout the
ODI series saying they were just unlucky not to win more than one match.

“The
games have been balanced so far apart from game two which we were outclassed
but apart from that, we have competed so well and challenged them and I think
we could have easily won the first game,” said Chisoro.

Chisoro
promised more stellar performances in the upcoming games as they had done with
ODI games and promising to give it all as always as they target a fine run in the
T20 series.

The
ODI also saw another Chevrons player, Sean Williams making history by making it
into the top 10 list of the world’s ODI all-rounders.

Welcome to Zanu PF Cde Tongai Matutu

0

It
never rains but pours for the little boy. Things haven’t been going his way of
late and I would never want to be in his shoes. Zvakaomera Chamisa hama dzangu
and I feel sorry for him. Morgan Richard Tsvangirai, Save rwizi rwukuru, Rest
in Power. Ndima yamakasiira mufana wechidiki iyi ine makata yakutoda mishina
mihombe. Let me divert a little and go to America. Patakasangana naTrump
kkkkkk, asi Chamisa usadaro. You did not meet Trump please stop lying to us.
But I don’t blame him hangu because meeting the Trump administration is the
same as meeting the Donald himself. I hear the elections are not going the way
of the Donald. Joe vuli gate vatiza nechinhu. I thought elections are rigged in
Zimbabwe only but what is happening in America is shocking. Rigging inogonekwa
neZanu PF chete and you will not know how you have been rigged but you just
feel you have been rigged.

Chamisa
was rigged in 2018 but up until now he does not understand how it has been
done. All they say is that Zanu PF rigged them but they do not have the
evidence to prove it. Inonzi Zanu PF vakomana and my advice to the Donald is
that he must phone Dambudzo so that he can be given a few tips on how to win
the elections. I heard Trump saying if the legitimate votes are counted he will
win meaning to say pane chimweya chechiZanu PF chapindira kuAmerica uko. Joe
Biden, who is currently knocking on the door of the White House, is one step
away from being the President Elect. Hanzi Trump cannot go to the White House
because it is for-Biden kkkk. I hope Trump haazodiri hake jecha muupfu.
American democracy is a bit mature than zvedu zvana Dambudzo naNerison. America
comes first to the Americans and you will see than when the final vote is
counted, Trump or Biden will phone the winner and give their congratulations.
What Mapombi does not understand is why Zanu PF is celebrating the victory of
Joe Biden. Nhai maZanu huyai pano mutiudze kuti muri kunatsa kufarirei chaicho
kuti Biden is winning the American elections?

I bet
maZanu think that Joe Biden will remove the sanctions kkkkk kuseka nhamo
serugare. Let me school you a little bit dear readers. American foreign policy
does not change overnight. The sanctions will not be removed because Joe Biden
is in the oval office. Even if you take Dambudzo and put him in the white
house, what I can assure you is that he will never remove the sanctions on
Zimbabwe. America is not governed the way most people think and America does
not have permanent friends but permanent interests. If we want sanctions on
Zimbabwe to be removed we have to do it from within. Let us ask ourselves some
difficult questions like, Why were sanctions imposed on us in the first place?
Who is responsible? What needs to be done for them to be uplifted? If we can
answer these questions I tell you we will be free from these sanctions. I do
not understand why Zanu PF is not keen to implement the necessary reforms so
that the sanctions can be removed. I do not understand why Zanu PF is failing
to respect human rights so that the sanctions can be removed. Before we throw
stones at the Americans please let us look within and see where we are going
all wrong. This sanctions issue needs sober minds which are not blinded with
politics. America does not just wake up and say we are imposing sanctions on
Zimbabwe from nowhere. Where there is smoke, there is fire.

Let me
not dwell much on America because hanzi kutaura about America its unpatriotic
and you may be arrested kkkkk. Asi Zanu PF musadaro vakomana. Why do you want
to hide misarinya yenyu yamuri kuita iyi. When people speak against your
maladministration you say we are being unpatriotic and yet someone tries to
skip the country with 6kgs of gold and is given a slap on the wrist. Why are
you treating corruption with kid gloves nhai Dambudzo. Rushwaya uyo munoreva
here kuti ane connection yekubuda munyika nethat amount of gold in the country.
If Rushwaya can do that how about the likes of Dambudzo himself and his
cronies? This country is cursed I tell you. Then we hear Rushwaya saying that
she picked the wrong bag kkkkk, mukadzi ane zvivindi uyu. Wrong bag really?
Don’t take us for fools please. We know there is a bigger fish to fry on this
case but we know the First Family is above the law. Kumagumo kune nyaya yakadaro
Masvingo. Rushwaya has the guts to demand bail and throw it to our faces that
she is worth millions, where did you get the millions from? We are suffering
and someone tells us that she has millions of dollars not bond but yaBiden
chaiyo. Musadaro vakomana. We have teachers on strike because they want a
surviving salary yet vamwe vanokama mukaka wakakora kare. Pasi necorruption.
This First Family is very corrupt I tell you.

I do
not know what former MDC top official Tongai Matutu saw in this party. He now
calls Zanu PF home and all of a sudden he is Cde Matutu kkkkk. Mapombi was
really disappointed with Matutu. I know it’s his right to do whatever he wants
but to join Zanu PF here vakomana. I know Chamisa, just like ED, did not turn
out to be the leader we expected him to be but kubva waramwa zvekuenda kuZanu
here haaaa Matutu wakandibaya panyama nhete. I am in great pain and the
departure of Cde Matutu means MDC is as good as dead in Masvingo province. I
know it was dead but now it’s deader kkkkk hameno kana kune word rakadaro. But there
are two sides to every story and I think Matutu is somewhat justified. The man
was frustrated long enough and we all have our breaking point. He once left MDC
when Tsvangirai was still alive and he joined Biti and he came back home again.
As if that was not enough, Chamisa did not like Matutu. He disqualified him
from the provincial congress last year despite commanding a huge majority. His
crime was for leaving. The province never healed from that congress until the
same Chamisa suspended the entire province and ultimately fired Gumbi. We
thought the door was opened for Matutu but Chamisa in his wisdom or lack of it
appointed the old and tired Misheck Marava to be the chairman. This angered
Matutu and he decided to hit Chamisa on his balls by joining the enemy. Ehe
vakutonzi Cde Matutu kkkk. To show that Matutu is more valuable to Zanu PF, he
was given a red carpet welcome at the State House by the top three boys.

I think
Matutu made a wise choice because there is no hope kuopposition. We all should
just support Zanu PF and try to reform it from within. Zvekuhukura tiri panze
hazvishandi izvi. We have tried it for far too long and we have invited
suffering to ourselves. If Matutu with all his monies can see that Zanu PF is home
what then of Mapombi asina kana cent anorarira mabanana akaora nemaputi. Chairman
wevanhu Cde Chadzamira ndadzoka kumusha kkkkk. I was once lost. Pamberi neZanu
PF, pamberi nekutonga, pasi nemhanduuuuuu kkkkk slogan ndarova. zvaChamissa
Chete Chete ndakutosiya because ndinofa ndichitambura. Joining Zanu PF does not
mean that ndinoida bodo, musangano uyu handiudi but ndiko kune tafura saka
handei tese tinodya. Cde Matutu I hope you will find peace with your decision.
You have betrayed the people and we hope someone will rise and lead Masvingo
and MDC Alliance. Job Sikhala uriko here uko kkkk. I have said enough regai
ndinokanga zvangu maputi angu for lunch. Mboko imboko.
