Zaka demands capable leaders

Lovemore Chinoputsa expressing a point

TellZim Reporter

The people in Zaka Central constituency have said they are going to vote for leaders who are capable of spearheading development in their area.
At a public discussion meeting organised by Cotrad at Four Miles (Four Maira) in Ward 8 of Zaka Central last Wednesday, speaker after speaker pleaded with aspiring candidates to depart from the traditional culture of only humbling themselves during campaigns only to turn into demigods soon after being elected into office.
The villagers who attended the meeting said it was frustrating that politicians often took the people for a ride.
“We have politicians who believe that people in rural areas are fools and they come here and slaughter cattle for us to eat towards elections but then dump us soon after elections…that must stop,” said one participant during question and answer.
MDC Alliance candidate for Zaka Central constituency, Lovemore Chinoputsa said he did not have personal funds to donate for developmental projects but promised that once elected into office, he would work with the community to spearhead development.
“Where do you think I should get the money from in this country at the moment? I live an honest life and I am not a thief so I don’t have dirty money to buy votes. All I can promise is that I am educated enough to help the people in my home area to promote development. I will be with you all the time. You will give me ideas, and I will run around looking for people to help us implement the projects,” said Chinoputsa.
Zanu PF candidate for the same constituency, Davison Svuure did not turn up for the event amid rumours that he cannot face the people who have doubted his claims that he is a qualified engineer.
Local government candidates from MDC Alliance and Zanu PF as well as an independent attended the meeting.
Villagers thanked Cotrad for coming up with the platform which they said had allowed them to interact with aspiring candidates.politics

MWENEZI – As part of efforts to improve service delivery especially in refuse collection and road works, the Mwenezi Rural District Council (RDC) has purchased a new eight-tonne UD lorry and a tractor.
The vehicles were recently delivered to Mwenezi RDC offices, Neshuro growth point, and have already been deployed to aid service delivery efforts in the sprawling Rutenga and Neshuro growth points.
In an interview with TellZim News, Mwenezi RDC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Albert Chivanga confirmed the development, acknowledging that inadequate equipment and few vehicles were a hindrance to the local authority’s service delivery goals.
“We bought an eight-tonne UD truck and a tractor which has a dumper. The vehicles were delivered from Harare. All in all, the total cost of the vehicles amounted to US$172 000. The vehicles are going to increase efficiency in as far as refuse collection is concerned. They are also going to be useful in road works around the district,” said Chivanga.local

CHIREDZI – The Ministry of Public Services, Labour and Social Services has been praised for organising a career guidance day at Alpha Mpapa High School, Chikombedzi, an area that are often overlooked in many respects.
Parents and children who spoke to TellZim News during the event last week said they were happy that they had finally been noticed as worthy of the programme.
The ministry’s provincial careers day coordinator, Michael Zwizwai said more than 1000 chil-dren from various schools participated in the event while 34 organisations came to exhibit.
“Some 1 940 students attended the Chiredzi district careers day, 291 of them being grade seven pupils from 13 primary schools. A total of 34 organisations talked to the pupils on various train-ing opportunities leading to specific career paths and employment chances.
“Three universities; Lupane, Mindlands and Gwanda travelled all the way and participated,” said Zwizwai.
A pupil from Malipati High School said he benefited much from the event as new career paths that he had never heard of were unpacked.
“There are many employment opportunities that I had never came across or heard of. I have attained vital knowledge from this event,” he said.
Miriam Makhuleke, a pupil from Alpha Mpapa High School said she was pleased to have the opportunity to interact with people from various sectors of the economy.
“This was very helpful because we now have knowledge on what is really required for one to get into a specific sector. This will help us to make wise choices from an early stage,” said Ma-khuleke.
TellZim News also participated at the event, with some pupils showing keen interest to explore the media industry when they are done with school.education

Construction work is expected to begin soon, with a certificate of establishment having already been issued by (UCCZ) president, Rev Freeman Ngadziore.
Building materials have been gathered, with a kiln of bricks already established at the site through community participation. Several well-wishers have also made pledges of such materials as windows, doors, river sand.

Court pardons Zaka granny for destroying Chamisa poster

Tiyani Hahlani

MASVINGO – A 59-year-old woman from Kungisai village under Chief Nhema, Zaka dis-trict, appeared before magistrate Peter Madiba on Wednesday, July 11, and was given a warning after being convicted of pulling down MDC Alliance presidential candidate, Nelson Chamisa’s campaign poster.
It was the State’s case that on July 3, Lydia Rugede went to Kushinga co-operative garden and found an MDC Alliance poster emblazoned with Chamisa’s face displayed on a log some 20 metres away. She then tore off the poster from its place and went about her work.
An informant later on saw the poster discarded under a thorny bush and reported the matter to the police, leading to the arrest of Rugede.
Asked by the magistrate why she committed the offence, Rugede said she just felt sacred af-ter seeing the poster, and pleaded with the court to forgive her.local

PRC candidates reject Mujuru photo on posters

Joice Mujuru

TellZim Reporter

Some People’s Rainbow Coalition (PRC) parliamentary and local government candidates in Masvin-go province are refusing to be associated with their presidential candidate, Joice Mujuru, arguing that her political brand was fading and no longer sell.
As a result, many of them have omitted her face from their campaign fliers and posters, opting to put their own pictures and the coalition’s logo only.
TellZim News saw many posters of different candidates without Mujuru’s picture and spoke to some of the candidates who made similar remarks.
“She is a political liability and her brand is now dead. We have decided not to put her face on the campaign materials we are paying for ourselves,” said one candidate.
Spokesperson of Mujuru’s National People’s Party (NPP), which is a member of PRC, said he did know about the issue.
“Posters that are being made by the party have the logo and our leader’s face on them. I haven’t heard about anybody resisting. But if there are indeed things like that, it could be because the can-didates didn’t get the official image of Dr Mujuru which has been chosen for this election on time. That image is not available on the internet,” said Chitando.Top news

Villagers lambast police, veterinary for botched dog poisoning case

Cephas Shava

MWENEZI – Villagers from Munyamani Village 5 under Chief Maranda who lost dogs and chickens to what was widely seen as a deliberate poisoning incident have criticised the police and the district’s veterinary services department for shoddy investigations that led to the ac-quittal of the suspect on all the 14 charges he faced.
Munyamani village head, Fani Chikamare, was this week acquitted by the Mwenezi Magis-trates’ Court at the close of the State’s case due to lack of evidence.
Some of the victims said justice had not been served due to the sub-standard work done by the police and the veterinary services personnel that attended the crime scene.
“We telephoned the police soon after discovering the offence in the morning. Instead of swiftly coming to attend the scene, they said we must come to the police station. We had to go there and give them transport to come and investigate but nothing meaningful was,” said a villager who lost some dogs.
Another villager described the case as a miscarriage of justice, saying a clear matter of cruelty against animals had gone unpunished.
“Some 60 dogs and several chickens died of poisoning but the veterinary surgeon who came to investigate did not even take samples to do tests. The poisonous substance that killed the dogs and chickens remains unknown,” the villager said.
Chikamare was facing charges of feeding poisoned bits of meat to the dogs and chicken in revenge against a village dog that had mauled his goat to death.local

Dairy farmers in Nyanga for AGM

NYANGA – Members of the Zimbabwe Association of Dairy Farmers (ZADF) last week met in Nyanga for their annual general meeting (AGM) where various awards were won for outstanding performances.
The event was graced by many dignitaries including the Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs, Monica Mutsvangwa who represented President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Over 60 companies in the milk processing business and related industries including Feedmix, Fivet, Kefalos, K2 came to exhibit their products.
In her speech, Mutsvangwa said the dairy industry needed to come up with ways of improving supply to cover gaps that still exist in the market.
“Dairy farming forms an integral part in the livelihoods of relatively poor households, female-headed households and in preparations of therapeutic diets for people with special health conditions. I therefore urge members here present to come up with results-yielding strategies to improve dairy productivity in communal, small-scale and commercial agriculture,” Mutsvangwa said.
She also urged women to take advantage of the recently opened Zimbabwe Women’s Micro-finance Bank (ZWMB) to secure loans and begin their own dairy projects even at a small scale.
Players in the sector also took the opportunity to raise their problems including the shortage of foreign currency needed to import chemicals and other requirements of the milk production process.
One industry player urged government to listen to the concerns of dairy farmers so as to help grown the industry and stop the importation of milk and milk products.
“It should be taken into account that the money used to import milk can be channelled towards dairy farming in Zimbabwe and the industry will grow,” he said.local

Triangle FC confidence improves

…with decisive victory over Dynamos, Bvaru-Bvaru

Anesushe Mamhute

CHIREDZI – Triangle United Football Club (Sugar-Sugar Boys) have received a boost to their confidence following an impressive 5-0 victory over Shabani Mine FC (Bvaru-Bvaru) at Gibbo Stadium last weekend.
Sugar-Sugar Boys have so far played 18 games and have won 10 of them, with the latest win making them number three on the Premier Soccer League (PSL) log table with 32 points.
Other top performers on the log are Chicken Inn (31), Ngezi Platinum (32) and log leaders FC Platinum (42).
The first four goals were scored in the first half by Ralph Kawondera, Lameck Nhamo, Phineas Bamusi and Collins Dhuwa who unthreaded a shot outside the box and claimed a score.
Agrippa Murimba netted the fifth score in the second half.
One devoted Sugar-Sugar Boys supporter, Wonder Dendere praised Triangle coach, Taurai Mangwiro, for the glory that the team is enjoying.
“When Mangwiro came to Triangle, it seemed he had come on a mission impossible but he soon oiled his machine so much that we have now became the best team to watch,” said Dendere.
Triangle FC have now gone for six matches without a draw and they will face Ngezi Platinum FC this Saturday and Highlanders on July 28.
In his remarks, Mangwiro said he was not surprised by the victory, saying the team had worked hard for it.
“Our latest victories against Dynamos and Shabani do not necessarily make us the best of them all, but they show that we are working very hard and are determined to win every match. We don’t underestimate any of our rivals,” said Mangiro.sport

Mahiya my man!

Kkkkkkkk but kahurumende kaMnangagwa so ka, mahwani. Mapombi is sure that the new dispensation does not like the police and the CIO but never thought they would reduce those officers to that level.
Honestly, dressing our police officers like airtime vendors is out of order! Our patrol control units are now dressed like Net1 airtime vendors – vava kupfeka mabhibhi eOrange and one can hardly notice the difference.
Just yesterday, a police officer got so angry when Mapombi called him through the car window akafuratira kuti mukuwasha ndipeiwo airtime yeNet1. Akabva acheuka zvikanzi ambuyawasha mundikwanire imi murikuona senge ndinotengesa airtime ini. It was only after he turned around and faced me that I realized that he was not an airtime vendor but a police officer akanyorwa in the front kuti patrol control.
Mapombi heard that the commissioner general Matanga loves his beer so much therefore, it might be possible that he approved this uniform for patrol control akarohwa zvake nebhabharasi because hazviite izvi. The good thing is that our police will also vote on the 30th of July and all Mapombi want to say to them is know the government which eroded their dignity. Zivai munhu ari kukupai nhamo and vote wisely!
Even the army, which is touted to be having influence in the current government, is also struggling – Mapombi heard vanzwa nebeans and cabbages vana mukoma kumaBarracks uku while their bosses are enjoying big time. I will not say more otherwise ndinoswera ndaitiwa zvangu yaKudzi Chipinga munongovaziva vana mukoma kuti vakadzidza vashoma the majority hardly use their brains vanongorova chete, sekutaurwa kwazvakaitwa naUncle Bob painterview iya. Kkkk, hanzi vazhinji vacho Havana kudzidza sema CIO.
Mapombi is also worried that President ED is talking of peaceful and violence-free elections but his party is intimidating and forcing opposition members to attend its rallies especially in Zaka East and Gutu where such cases have been reported.
We want peace; people must exercise tolerance and allow the electorate to choose candidates of their choice kurovana hakuna kunaka – we will all still be Zimbabweans at the end of the day of the elections.
But Mapombi respects the war vets spokesperson Douglas Mahiya – ndovanonzi varume ava kwete vaya vakanyorwa pama toilet. Mahiya is a real man! He is like Mapombi tisu vanhu two vanofira kutaura chokwadi.
I once said it several times that not even one criminal was arrested though the junta claimed that they intervened because the former president Uncle Bob was surrounded by criminals. Now Mahiya told us that the same criminals who were surrounding the former president are now surrounding ED. Ndakambozvitaura izvi vamwe vakati Mapombi anopenga but the war vets have since seen it also that ED is now surrounded by the same criminals.
Mapombi would like to know how many criminals the junta arrested when it intervened in November last year. Tiudzeiwo kuti makasunga mukavharira vangani mujere because the reason for intervention was that the former president was surrounded by criminals?
Cde Mahiya; may you kindly tell ED that these criminals around him will cost him come July 30 elections. We gave him over seven months to prove himself but the best he could do was to buy Chicken Inn in Chegutu using a crispy US$20 note and giving over $17 as tip – makamboonepi tip inowanda kudarika the cost of the product yawatenga? ED is busy encouraging us to use plastic money but iye achitenga nemaUS dollars – vanoona sekuti takanyanya kupusa varume ava handiti?
Some of us hatichamboziva kuti there are real US dollars in this country but vamwe vanotoita kupa tip nawo. People are sleeping in queues at banks and they are struggling even to get mabond note chaiwo but varidzi venyika vanawo maUS dollars.
I like one thing about the war vets – they learnt kutaura chokwadi last year when they joined Mapombi to tell the people kuti Mugabe haachaite. When Mapombi was condemning Uncle Bob some people in Zanu PF accused her of being munhu weopposition but when the wily old uncle was finally forced out by the junta, they started to say Mapombi akapenga vakomana akanga aonera kudhara.
I am saying the same with the current junta government kuti vanhu ava havaite ava and the same people are saying ndinopenga but very soon they will say Mapombi waireva chokwadi. Chete vamwe takapiwa chipo chekuonera makasi; this junta government is struggling and there is really nothing worthy writing home about.
Of course, Chamisa has his weakness but for now he is the best option – anotodawo kubatsirwa mufana uyu but ari nani chose pana ED nevamwe vake. ED failed to solve the cash crisis in seven months but the MDC did it in a few weeks’ time during inclusive government. Let us be honest with each other zveEconomy hazvisi zvenyu vanhu veZanu chamunogona it’s violence and rigging elections.
Now the opposition is raising a lot of issues they want Zec to address before elections but nothing is happening. In fact Zanu PF is supporting Zec kuti zvinhu zvakatonaka zvakadaro. Really?
But this time Zanu iri kuigochera pautsi chete. Mapombi is very sure the best ED can force is an inclusive government because kuhwina chaiko haapabudi naChamisa. The young man anodiwa zvake even in rural areas people are just asking kuti ko kunze kwaChamisa pangava neumwe upi ipapa wekusarudza. People are ready to vote for Chamisa and they cannot wait for July 30.
Anyway, it’s almost lunch time guys let me go ndindokanga zvangu maputi angu for lunch. By the way, remember the less privileged this winter by donating a jersey or blanket veduwe. We have orphanages and old people’s homes kune vanhu vanoda kubatsirwa; let us donate zvishoma zvatiinazvo veduwe.
You may donate to Mapombi as well because kuno kuChitima market kwandogara chando chiri kuvava chaiko. Manje ndikafa nyaya dzinozipa kudai munoudzwa nani? Before I go, did Mphoko join NPF?  Where is Mphoko guys? Can someone pass my greetings and tell him that Mapombi really miss him. Hanzi ava kuda kudzingwa kuChpooies nevakomana vepa Botswana apa vakabatana nema India avo. Mboko imboko!
Please police boss Matanga gadzirisai this as a matter of urgency. Mapombi knows very well that you like your beer so much so maybe you approved this makarohwa nebhabharazi because this orange colour is really irritating and one can hardly notice the difference between airtime vendors and our police. Please restore the dignity of our police.mapombi
