TellZim Reporter

The Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) has opened a mop up registration window in Masvingo district covering Masvingo Urban, Masvingo Central, Masvingo South, Masvingo North and Masvingo West.
The mop up exercise stretches from December 4 to 19.
ZEC official Getrude Marumbi spoke to Hevoi FM yesterday, Wednesday December 6 2017, saying the mop-up exercise was aimed at reaching out to those who may have missed out during the BVR blitz.
“There may be people who missed the BVR blitz and these are our targets in this mop-up exercise. There are people who may have been processing their national identification cards during the blitz and now is their chance to register.
“We want to make sure that we cover as much ground as possible and the so called aliens have to also embrace this extension to register as voters,” said Marumbi.local

‘Zanu PF swallows ZimPF’

Kudakwashe Bhasikiti

Upenyu Chaota

The opposition Zimbabwe People First (ZimPF), largely composed of members fired from the ruling Zanu PF on allegations of plotting to usurp power from the then President Robert Mugabe back in 2014, could close shop after its top leadership traced its footsteps back to the ruling party.
The Zanu PF central committee last month extended an olive branch to all former members expelled from the party from as far back as 2014.
ZimPF heavyweights Kudakwashe Bhasikiti and Rtd Col Claudius Makova were quick to respond to the call and showed up at last weeks’ Zanu PF Masvingo Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) meeting where they swore allegiance to President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Bhasikiti, who was ZimPF national chairperson, said he resigned from ZimPF and is now in Zanu PF full time, claiming the ruling party ‘has always been my home’.
“Zanu PF and ZimPF are the same. When we were expelled, we formed a party which is people-oriented like Zanu PF. We did not want to call ourselves Zanu PF original but we decided to follow the goals of Zanu PF while outside.
“Now that Zanu PF has redeemed itself, we have decided to come back because we have always been Zanu PF. I told Didymus Mutasa and Rugare Gumbo that we should dissolve the party and go back to our roots and I assure you that they are all coming back to their home,” said Bhasikiti.
Bhasikiti said he was not after any position but was available to serve Zanu PF and make sure that the party won election next year.
“Some people may begin to wonder why I have decided to trace back my footsteps so I want to assure them that I am not seeking any position. I just want to serve my party because this is the only party I know,” said Bhasikiti.
Surprisingly, it is the same Bhasikiti who pulled out of the Mwenezi East parliamentary by-election in March, citing intimidation and vote-buying by Zanu PF which he condemned as a violent party.
Rtd Col Makova also weighed in saying they were the first to answer to the call by the central committee saying they never wanted to leave Zanu PF but were forced out.
“I want to categorically state that I never left Zanu PF but I was expelled. It was not my wish but I had no other option. The party had been hijacked and even President Mnangagwa was expelled too. Many people were expelled so we have to work together now to rebuild the party,” said Rtd Col Makova.politics

Mnangagwa my man!

Now that the cool is over, it’s time to get to serious business. Hey chiiko nemi I said cool not coup iyo yamava kutaura iyo zvava zvenyuwo izvozvo ini handichazvikwanise kwava kuda kutsvaga kutirovesa nana mukoma.
But the cool was really helpful anyway because Mr Mugabe decided to call it quits as pressure continued to mount on him. Mapombi thought it was game over for Mnangagwa after he was fired from Vice President post but vana Chiwenga vakazomubatsira wena.
But iyeyu Chiwenga naMnangagwa ndakatovagumbukira rough; I heard ndivo vakarambirira election ya2008 mudhara ati ndoenda kwaZvimba kundorima zviyo nembambaira. Dai makarega zvakaenda kudhara zvingadaro tisina kumboona nhamo yese yamakationesa iyi. Zvichatora nguva kuti tikuregererei varume imi – in fact you have to sort out the economy as soon as possible kana muchida kuti tikanganwe nhamo yatakaoneswa naRobert because of you.
Mapombi however, has few predictions of the things that will happen soon; firstly – I can foresee former Bikita West legislator Dr Munyaradzi Kereke vachibuda mujere while Dr Ignatious Chombo is locked up at Chikurubhi. I can foresee former Prosecutor General Johannes Tomana bouncing back as well probably with a more powerful position now.  Please note that these are just predictions ini ndakasiyana nevamwe vaya vanozviti maprophets who say everything they predict is prophecy.
There is a big difference between a prediction and prophecy muvaudze izvozvo vazvizive vasatinyepere ivavo vakandopiwa samba nemaAsante kuGhana munovaziva. Anyway, you have heard my prediction so let’s wait and see kana zvazotadza mozoti Mapombi unonyepa – dai musina hana nhete ndaibva ndangokuudzai zvimwe zvikuru manje ndoswera zvangu ndotsvagwa nemasoja nemapurisa mandifumura kuti ndini ndakakuudzai. But will tell you anyway because ndiri gentleman handivanze.
But life sometimes is not fair guys; are you telling me that Marujata is no longer first lady of this country? Kkkkkkkk inga hupenyu ivhiri hunoshanduka chokwadi – Grace ‘Gucci’ chaiye chaiye here? Kkkkkk haa mhepo ndoiziva zvangu ini. Anyway, my dear brothers don’t ever make a mistake of going to bed with secretaries kumabasa uko munotiparira veduwe.  I rest my case.
Mapombi heard from Leo Mugabe that the former president is well and fit; kkkkk hanzi he is looking forward to his new life kumusha and farming kkkkkk zvoita upenyu so. Asi mudhara anga arwadzisa vanhu mhani uyu.
Back to serious business; by the way Mnangagwa said to have already hit the ground running and he promised probably more than what he can chew. Of course, after taking over a fractured country like Zimbabwe, one has to promise anything, just anything. He has promised jobs, jobs, jobs, reviving the economy and to ruthlessly dealing with corruption. Kkkkkkk CORRUPTION? Really Mr President?
But I was impressed by the decision to cut budget by half for the Zanu PF extra-ordinary congress – at least Mnangagwa has to do it the Magufuli way if he is to indeed endear himself with the generality of Zimbabweans. People of Zimbabwe just want transparency and good governance. Period.
People want to know what happened to the $15 billion which Mugabe said it disappeared; what happened to Itai Dzamara. But Mnangagwa cannot do this without exposing his cdes and allies but zvava kutoda kushinga saMagufuli apa and once he does that Ngwena inobva yatoita hero chairo.
I am however, appealing to you Mr President to make sure the person called Dofora or is it Dokora is nowhere near the primary and secondary education ministry please. Please please ndakumbirawo hangu the man is a big problem. The best is just to let him go andozorora zvake naMugabe vachitaura about their new curriculum ikoko. We don’t want to see Dokora near our children, please.
But Chinamasa and Mumbengegwi vanoti Mwari ndewedu wena; after being humiliated by Mugabe by way of demotion to inferior ministries, they have bounced back as acting ministers of Finance and Foreign Affairs respectively. Kana iri mudzimu yavo doro vanofanira kutombobika futi.
Mapombi however, wants to warn Mnangagwa that the cabinet really needs an overhaul; izvi zvekuramba mongoti vana Hungwe maminister hazvichaita todawo new and fresh blood. More youthful MPs must be appointed to the cabinet kwete chembere dzava kungorarara mumisangano idzo.
But to declare Mugabe’s birthday a national public holiday ndokurasika chaiko. Mapombi is sure the new president kutodawo kuti ravo birthday rigozonziwo public holiday. What national Youth Day ipapa? We want to fast forget anything to do with Mugabe please so don’t add on to our woes; we already have airports and streets named after him which some of us vana Mapombi have declared kuti handisvike anywhere pakangonyorwa kuti Robert Gabriel Mugabe. Kana mumastreets chaiwo handigurimo that is why I prefer to remain here at Dr Grace Trading Centre. Kkkkkkk by the way, anyone who named this place after Grace munhu iyeye ngauye pano ndimbomupawo some rotten bananas and maputi because akachenjeresa. The filthiness of this place naGrace igejegeje chaiyo kkkkkk sando dzenyu Queen of Grace.
It’s almost lunch time regai ndeiende zvangu ndindokanga maputi angu for lunch ndingamapedza here mashoko mazuvano akawandisa kudarika mvura yeCyclone Grace. But before I go, im really worried Cdes, is there anyone in Botswana andiudzewo kuti ubudi wami Mphoko unjani. I miss you mfo’wethu! But I hear he has already phoned Ngwena begging for mercy and to be allowed to return home after Khama gave him a December 1 deadline to leave the country kkkkk. I’m happy I heard Choppies inserted an advert in one of the State papers congratulating Ngwena for being President – you were on point. I miss you bro! Asante Sana! Mboko imboko!mapombi

Veterai elected ZDA provincial chair

Edmore Veterai

TellZim Reporter

The Zimbabwe Diabetes Association (ZDA) has elected former police commissioner Edmore Veterai as its Masvingo provincial chairperson.
The organisation said the appointment of Veterai will help move the association’s goals of mitigating the dangers posed by diabetes.
Statistics on diabetes in Zimbabwe have been described in some quarters as not up to date but in 2005, it was found that 10 percent of the population was diabetic.
“As the new provincial chairperson together with my executive, I am going to make sure that all the people who are diabetic make the right choices regarding their conditions.
“We have had incidences where people are misled by prophets that their diabetic conditions can be healed through prayer and are given anointing oil but that should not be the case. People should get tested for diabetes and start treatment.
“You do not need anointing water or oil but just some insulin from nearby medical facilities an appropriate diet,” said Veterai.
He said people needed to avoid stress and exercise a lot in order to manage sugar levels.
ZDA donated soccer balls to each of the seven districts in Masvingo so that people can exercise.  A donation of five bags of maize and five of sugar beans and cases of sugar was also made at Ratidzo Zimcare Trust.local

‘Aliens’ now allowed to vote

TellZim Reporter

03 Dec 2017 – High Court Judge Nyaradzo Munangati-Munongwa on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, granted an order allowing so-called aliens to go and register to vote provided they bring along their ‘alien’ branded identity cards, a birth certificate and proof of residence.
The court order came after human rights lawyer Denford Helimani of the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) petitioned the High Court on behalf of Harare resident Sarah Kachingwe and two opposition parties; MDC-T and MDC-N seeking and order to compel the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) to allow the ‘aliens’ to register as voters.
‘Aliens’ are people born of foreign parents whom Registrar General Tobaiwa Mudede had consistently disenfranchised.local

Dokora must fall

Lazarous Dokora

‘He is a typical farm manager not education minister’

Upenyu Chaota

01 Dec 2017
– The education fraternity in the country has pleaded with President Emmerson Mnangagwa to do a complete overhaul of the country’s education system by weeding off incompetent elements among them former Primary and Secondary Education minister Lazarus Dokora when he appoints his new cabinet.
A number of school heads in Masvingo province as well as teachers’ organisations have expressed concern over the manner in which Dokora ran the ministry saying he was a bully and a dictator who did not consult before implementing his inferior policies like the new curriculum.
The new curriculum has received widespread condemnation with President Mnangagwa once questioning the manner of its implementation when he was still vice president earlier this year.
Progressive Teachers’ Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) president Dr Takavafira Zhou said the whole Dokora approach should just be dispensed.
“It would be unfair to get rid of Dokora only in this whole equation. His former deputy minister and the permanent secretary must go too.
“We do not want to entrust the educational system into the wrong people. Mugabe made a mistake by giving us Dokora and was even deaf when people demonstrated against his leadership.
“President Mnangagwa should know that we need a minister who knows what he or she is doing to better the system, not making it worse and bully teachers around,” said Dr Zhou.
In a statement dated November 19, 2017, the Amalgamated Rural Teachers’ Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ) described Dokoras as the worst minister of education that Zimbabwe has had since 1980.
The statement says Dokora has managed to cling on to power because of bootlicking former President Mugabe and his wife Grace.
“Now that Mugabe is gone, Dokora should go too. Dokora is guilty of many sins in the education sector. He has failed to reign in on ZIMSEC which continues to leak examination papers thereby discrediting the country’s examination system.
“Dokora should be thrown out and replaced by capable and competent leaders with a commitment of transforming our education system for the better. In the new Zimbabwe people like Dokora should not be given any ministerial post.
“Dokora is guilty of disastrous formulation and implementation of a new curriculum, introducing Grade 7 examination fees which undermines the right to basic education for all,” reads the statement by ARTUZ.
School heads in Masvingo also added their voices condemning Dokora for his poor policies. Two months ago, school heads in Masvingo once described Dokora as a foolish minister who hardly knows anything.
“Our prayer is that we will not get another Dokora as the minister. Dokora was terrible I tell you. No one was happy with him and we hope President Mnangagwa will assign a better candidate to the ministry,” said one school head.
“It is disastrous to have someone who wants to prove a point at every turn. Dokora was so obsessed with implementing his new curriculum and turned a blind eye to its flaws. The new minister should do away with the new curriculum and begin consultations first,” said another head on conditions of anonymity.
Another head was of the view that Dokora should manage a farm not a whole ministry because he does not have the expertise.
“If you are a leader and you want to impose your way all the time, it means you are clueless. He forced us to march in Harare and chant slogans for former President Mugabe and his wife but now that they are history, he should be history too.
“He should go and manage a farm where he can impose his way on animals because we as humans do not tolerate to be trodden on,” said another head.
Efforts to get comment from Dokora were fruitless as his mobile phone was not reachable by the time of going to print.politics

MFS farm section head in over $3 000 fraud storm

Lloyd Shunje

MUTARE – Manicaland provincial magistrate Tendai Mahwa last week remanded Biggie Phiri (36), an employee at Major Family Savings (MFS) Mutare branch who is facing 47 counts of fraud, to November 3 for continuation of trial.
The accused, who resides at House Number 1318, Area 3 in Dangamvura, is being charged with theft as defined in section 113 (2) (d) of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act Chapter 9:23.
Phiri, who is the head of MFS farming section Mutare branch, stands accused of violating the faith entrusted him when he prejudiced customers beginning in February this year.
It is the State’s case that MFS customers would come to pay for day-old chicks and building materials and the accused would receipt them before advising them on the date of collection.
On several occasions, the complainants went to the MFS shop to collect their products but nothing materialised because the accused had converted – to his own personal use – the money that he had received from them.
A total of US$3 329.10 was stolen.

Chivhu man stabbed over pathway

CHIVHU – Benjamin Chida from Mudavanhu village, Chief Neshangwe in Sadza, escaped death by a whisker after he was stabbed on the head by his cousin whom he had tried to discourage from using the back path when passing his homestead, the Chivhu Magistrates Court has heard.
The accused person, Tongesai Maranga stood before Chivhu magistrate Fadzai Mtombeni but denied attempted murder charges arguing that it was a matter of self-defence, claiming the complainant had approached him with a pallet gun.
It is the State’s case, as articulated by Nicholas Mabvongodze, that on July 05 this year at around 18:30 hrs, Maranga passed by Chida’s homestead using the back path, prompting the complainant to ask him why he liked to use the back instead of the front.
The accused, who was holding an axe, did not respond to the complainant but, instead, struck him thrice on the head with the back of the axe and the victim fell unconscious.
After gaining consciousness, the complainant went into his house, took a pallet gun and proceeded to the accused’s house but upon arrival, the accused charged towards him holding an Okapi knife which he used to stab him once on the head.
The complainant’s father rescued him and immediately reported the matter at Sadza Police Station leading to the arrest of the accused.
The case was due to continue in the Chivhu Magistrates Court by the time of going to press with witnesses yet to give their side of the case.local
