…receives best student award at graduation

HARARE – A grade six pupil at Belvedere Primary School has made history when he graduated on November 13, 2016 after completing a two year theology diploma programme with Africa Multi-nation for Christ College (AMFCC).
PraiseGod Kiwiti (11) said he was happy that he managed to respond to the calling of God without wasting time.
The young boy surprised other graduates when he received the best student award, beating his classmates who were old enough to be his parents.
AMFCC Evening School coordinator, Dr Charles Mbisa said Praisegod was the youngest graduate to ever make it through the college.
“He is the youngest graduate to pass through our hands. Just like the Biblical David who got called at a very tender age, Praisegod has done the same. We wish him all the best in carrying out the Lord’s work,” said Dr Mbisa.
Praisegod made it clear he was ready to go into the field and start to do the work of God.
“I am happy that I managed to respond to my calling, God started calling me when I was even younger than what I am today. I kept on telling my parents about how God was speaking to me through dreams until they encouraged me to enrol with AMFCC Evening School,” said PraiseGod.
His father, Virimai Kiwiti, a pastor with United Family International Church (UFIC), said he was happy that his son had followed his footsteps.
“My wife and I are happy parents today. I cannot believe it. We have accompanied the young boy to his graduation and I also graduated here at AMFCC two years ago. The boy used to tell me his dreams and I realised that God was calling him.
“I then encouraged him to enrol with the same college that moulded me and look, here we are today witnessing the youngest graduate ever,” said Kiwiti.
He said the young boy is intellectually gifted as he receives prizes each year at his school, and is expecting four units when he sits for his Zimsec Grade 7 examinations next year.
AMFCC is a Bible College that was founded by Archbishop Ezekiel Handinawangu Guti of ZAOGA Forward in Faith and it trains pastors from any church.news

‘We will hire soldiers in 2018’

…Zanu PF worried by new voters’ roll system
…Remember what Mjr-Gen. Rugeje did in 2008

TellZim Reporter

MASVINGO – Zanu PF’s most senior member in Masvingo province and Psychomotor minister, Josaya Hungwe has said his party will not hesitate to hire the services of soldiers to thwart the opposition’s chances and make sure the ruling party retains power in the 2018 elections.
Speaking at the inter district meeting at Masvingo Polytechnic last Saturday, Hungwe said when the worst scenario comes,  Zanu PF was prepared to go to war against opposition political parties.
Hungwe was quick to remind the people how army Major-General Engelbert Rugeje helped Zanu PF in the run-up to the June 2008 presidential election runoff campaign.
Mjr-Gen Rugeje was instrumental in the campaign which is widely viewed as the most violent of all elections since 1980 and, at one point, he fired his gun at Mucheke stadium to intimidate the electorate.
“Yes, we can go to war. We can hire our army…our soldiers can come in to help us. We will never allow opposition political parties to rule this country. We are going to have President Mugabe as our candidate in 2018 and his predecessors must have war credentials.
“Don’t forget what Rugeje did in Masvingo in 2008…we can call him again in 2018,” said Hungwe.
Hungwe, who mocked Dzikamai Mavhaire for joining the Zimbabwe People First (ZimPF), said there was nothing sinister if the regime hires soldiers to help fight the ‘enemy’.
“We must make sure that People First does not win… this is very Biblical because it started in the Bible where the army was being hired to defend the King. In our case, President Mugabe is our King hence the need to use soldiers to defend him and his party,” said Hungwe.
Acting Zanu PF provincial chairperson, Amasa Nhenjana told the same gathering that the ruling party was worried by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission’s (ZEC) intention to introduce polling station based voters’ roll.
He said the system could help the opposition and cost the ruling party in the elections.
“We are not happy with the proposed system. As a party, we think the new system will have a lot of loopholes…they might want to rig elections in the name of new system. Let us be very vigilant and reject that proposal,” said Nhenjana.
Masvingo province unanimously endorsed President Mugabe as the Zanu PF candidate for 2018 elections.
The inter-district meeting was held for members to brief each other on the state of preparedness ahead of the party’s 16th conference to be hosted by Masvingo province in December.
The provincial party structures have already endorsed President Mugabe as the Zanu-PF candidate for the 2018 presidential elections.news

Engage political parties on demos – ZimPF

Mawarire

Upenyu Chaota

MASVINGO – The Zimbabwe People First (ZimPF) led by Joice Mujuru has attributed the failure of recent social media-coordinated demonstrations on poor coordination saying the organisers have no powers, outside of political parties, to mobilise people.
The party says organisers of those protests need to rope in opposition parties because they have a solid following.
ZimPF says Zanu PF has become immune to poorly organised and attended demonstrations by activists who are out to make money than fight for a cause.
Recent attempts by such pressure groups like #ThisFlag, #Tajamuka and #ThisFlower to organise mass protests against the government have largely failed.
Giving reference to the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC-T) successful mass demonstration held in Harare a few months ago, ZimPF national spokesperson Jealousy Mawarire said it is high time Zimbabweans mature if they want to send a message to a regime that has imprisoned them.
“We cannot continue repeating things that have failed. These activists have no capacity to mobilise people for a meaningful demonstration. People cannot be mobilised on social media, you do not do that.
“This is the reason why there is always poor turnout at all the demonstrations organised outside political parties. It is high time we become mature and engage organisations which have followings like the church and various political parties,” said Mawarire.
He said private citizens have no capacity whatsoever to mobilise people for a meaningful demonstrations.
“Let us rope in everyone and agree on modalities. The political parties have to be part of all the demonstrations since they command most of the people. We should desist from relying much on social media because it will not change anything.
“Just because you are a Mawarire and good at recording a video with your phone does not mean you can mobilise people. The shutdown which happened on August 6 was not a doing of any online activist but only coincidence came to play hence they claimed responsibility,” Mawarire said.
The August 6, 2016 demonstrations, dubbed the ‘National Shutdown’ were spontaneous citizen-driven protests whose success was attributed largely to the efforts of now exiled #ThisFlag leader, Pastor Evan Mawarire.
Mawarire said people should learn from Itai Dzamara who failed to rally people behind him and should look to political parties since most of the activists lack resources.
Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) president Dr Takavafira Zhou added his voice saying the social media movements are giving confidence to the regime that they can crush demonstrations.
“We are equally to blame for the crisis we have at hand. We have become competitors for donor appeal rather than work for a better Zimbabwe. You cannot organise a demonstration where a handful of people come, the police will beat you.
“The police will not beat people if they turn out in their numbers. It is time to be sober-minded because Mugabe will not be intimidated by a small group of people,” said Zhou
He added that opposition parties should work on a coalition now because Zanu PF is like an octopus which can resurrect towards elections and win again.news

Nyajena – An eight-year-old girl from Changa village, chief Nyajena area, died after she was hit on the head by a giant rock during a botched robbery on Thursday last week, TellZim News is informed.
The robbers were apparently trying to gain entry into the house when they decided to smash the door with a boulder after the family sleeping inside refused to respond to their orders to open the door.
Margret Changa was sleeping together with her mom Noria Dovi and her other siblings who refused to open the door when the robbers demanded her to do so.

Zaka – A Zaka man who was in court for unlawful entry and malicious damage to property last week sent the whole court into giggles after he told the magistrate that he was followed by bad luck as he was being accused for crimes he did not commit.
“Ndingori nemunyamawo wekungopomerwa dzandisina kuita, (It’s because of my bad luck that I am accused of what I did not do,” said Edison Jamukoko.
Jamukoko (27) was found guilty on both counts though he pleaded not guilty and was sentenced to 12 months in prison on the first count.
Four were suspended on condition that he do not commit the similar offence within five years, the remainder was suspended on condition that he does 280 hours of community service at Chiromo primary school.
On the second account, he was sentenced to 18 months with four being suspended on condition that he does not commit a similar offence within five years.
The remainder was suspended on condition that he does 250 hours of community service at Chiromo secondary school and to pay $120 for the damaged property
The state represented by Douglas Mapholisa told the court that Jamukoko unlawfully entered a house belonging to Thomas Janga and walked away with an inverter valued at US$15 which he sold.
The inverter was recovered and Janga positively identified the inverter but Jamukoko said it is not the one he sold but the evidence produced by the State was overwhelming.
On passing judgement the magistrate considered that he was a first offender and that the inverter was recovered.news

Local woman appointed FAO ambassador

MASVINGO – Elizabeth Mpofu, the Shashe Block farmer who recently led a farmers’ delegation to Spain, has been appointed Special Ambassador overseeing the Africa Region by the United Nations’ Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO).
Mpofu chairs the Zimbabwe Smallholder Organic Farmers’ Forum (ZIMSOFF) and is International General Co-ordinator for La Via Campesina, an organisation which represents farmers’ interests at international level.
The latest FAO appointment became effective on August 4 this year.
The scope of the position is related to FAO’s International Year for Pulses/Legumes, crops which not only provide protein for body building but also maintain and enhance soil fertility.
Mpofu is expected to travel across the African continent, meeting with farmers and promoting the cultivation of legumes as a sustainable method of improving the food and nutrition livelihoods of households in Africa.
“There has been over emphasis on the production of cereals and even our very own Command Agriculture does not recognise the importance of legumes as nutritional foods.
“The production of legumes is meant to reduce the incidence of malnutrition in Africa. It will also reduce the farmers’ dependence on cereal seeds which are produced by seed breeders.
ZIMSOFF national co-ordinator and a top ranking official in La Via Campesina, Nelson Mudzingwa spoke glowingly about legume plants.
“Farmers reduce costs by providing their own seed from the last harvest while they continue to enjoy a highly nutritional diet,” said Mudzingwa.
Mudzingwa said Mpofu’s efforts to uplift the farmer were recognised by FAO after collaborating with the organisation as La Via Campesina’s co-ordinator in most of their programmes.
“FAO was not aware that as a local farmers’ organisation, we were had explored other alternatives that bypass traditional seed breeding until we began collaborating. The collaborative effort has seen FAO being involved in most of our programmes,” Mudzingwa said.news

Mugabe must live and witness his defeat in 2018: Chibaya

Chibaya

Exsto Makunzva

ZVISHAVANE – Mkoba Member of Parliament (MP) Amos Chibaya said President Robert Mugabe should be in good health until 2018 to witness his heaviest defeat by Morgan Tsvangirai of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC-T).
The outspoken MDC-T legislator was speaking at his party’s much awaited rally which was finally held in Zvishavane after it was blocked for five consecutive times by the police.
An attempt to hold a High Court-sanctioned rally earlier this month was violently broken by police and seven MDC-T members were arrested.
The seven were however freed by the Zvishavane Magistrate’s Court with lawyers from the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights arguing that the police had no genuine case and had acted illegally by disrupting a duly-sanctioned event.
Chibaya said the ruling Zanu-PF had created a mess and had promised to create jobs yet jobs are still being lost and the economy is in trouble.
“Zanu PF has run out of ideas. Out of the 2.2 million jobs they promised, Mugabe has just managed to create one job; that is for his son in-law Simba Chikore at Air Zimbabwe.
“Where are the other 2 199 999 jobs? What we want is Shabanie Mine and Sabi Gold Mine to reopen,” said Chibaya.
He criticised the government’s plan to avert the cash shortages by printing bond notes which he said will not solve any of the country’s deep-rooted economic problems.
“Now, Zanu PF wants to take us back to 2007 by printing money which they are calling bond notes. How on earth can you print money when you are not producing? Bond notes are not a legal tender,” he said.
Speaking at the same rally which was attended by about 2000 people MDC-T Midlands South province’s Francisco Masendeke thanked the counts for sanctioning the rally and encouraged the youth to register to vote.news

Zanu PF worse than cancer

President Mugabe

Upenyu Chaota

MASVINGO – Opposition political parties have lamented the devastating impact that Zanu PF’s brutal rule has had on Zimbabwe saying it is worse than cancer and that the revolutionary party will not let go of power until they destroy and loot every resource left in the country.
Zimbabweans, the critics say, had high hopes for a better life at the attainment of independence from the British but were hit with a harsh reality that sometimes it is better to hug and kiss a hyena than be friends with a wolf in sheep clothing.
Zimbabwe People First (ZimPF) national spokesperson, Jealousy Mawarire said Zanu PF has looted from the people and robbed future generations of a brighter future.
“Zanu PF is a disease which has affected many Zimbabweans and I tell you it is worse than cancer. They have no remorse whatsoever for corroding the welfare of the general populace.
“The people in Zanu PF are looting the little resources left in the country with a passion. They are well aware that they have no future in politics hence they are scrambling to steal and secure their future,” said Mawarire.
He said the people thought that the regime will open up gates of opportunities but rather it opened up its pockets and they started distributing wealth amongst themselves.
“Zanu PF has a conference in December in Masvingo and they managed to raise $3.5 million in just three hours while it takes them forever to raise funds to complete the Tokwe Mukosi dam. It just shows the lack of seriousness and commitment to the people.
“Maybe it is the $15 billion that went missing which is just being pumped out,” said Mawarire.
Movement for Democratic Change (MDC-T) spokesperson Obert Gutu said Zimbabweans never attained total independence because they are still being held captive by their fellow countrymen.
“What pains the most about the current state of affairs is that the people we thought liberated us are the ones who are suppressing us the most. They have ruined and rundown everything in their path.
“They have looted and stolen everything within their reach. The money which is being spent by Zanu PF in just one week is enough is enough to feed the whole drought stricken province for two months.
“While the Zanu PF elite will be feasting, wining and dining during their conference, about two million hungry villagers in Masvingo will be scavenging for their next meal. Greed and selfishness has taken over Zanu PF and are sucking the life out of ordinary people,” said Gutu.
Meanwhile, the war veterans led by Christopher Mutsvangwa have given President Mugabe a final chance to mend fences with them by dumping G40, a Zanu PF faction which they say is a cancer waiting to inflict further damage onto the country through massive looting.news

Ngoni (Baba Rah) Chinovava

Bothwell Chabarika

Masvingo’s multi-talented artists Ngoni Chinovava affectionately known in the arts industry as Baba Rah is riding high on his single track; ‘Muranda’.
The youthful artist told TellZim News that the song is motivated by real life situation and what transpires in our day to day living.
“I wrote the song ‘Muranda’ after I closely looked at the situation in our communities. One cannot be a good leader if he/she doesn’t have an understanding of what poor people or his followers are going through.
“Kana uchida kutungamira chita…wototanga wave muranda. Ungagoziva sei kuti zvinoda shirikadzi nenherera. If you want to be a leader you must first be a slave. If not so then how will you know what widows and orphans feel,” sang some of the lines in the song.
The track is one of his best and was produced by C Clear on Tears of life riddim in June this year.

Evangelist Heward Mills

…ten buses to carry people to the venues free of charge

Jubilee Mahlamvana

ZVISHAVANE – Renowned international evangelist Dag Heward-Mills, the founder and father of Healing Jesus Campaign, will conduct one of his 14 crusades in Zvishavane on November 25 – 26, 2016 at Gresham School grounds.
The nondenominational outreach, whose aim is to win as many souls as possible for Christ, has become a world-wide event which seeks to bring together people from all churches as brothers and sisters in Christ.
Speaking to TellZim News, Healing Jesus Campaign director for the Zvishavane gathering, Evangelist Mike Olariwadu said the goal was to spread the word of God by preaching and winning many souls as well as making those who do not believe come to Christ.
“We are on a mission to fulfil the word of God as well as preaching to his people so that those with ears will hear and believe that God is there,” Olariwadu said.
He expressed faith that many miracles will be witnessed at the crusade with the blind gaining their sight, the deaf hearing and the crippled walking.
“We believe that the hand of God will be at work to guide us so that everybody will start to worship Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour,” said Olariwadu.
Evangelist Olariwadu said he and his team was expecting a bigger number of people to attend the crusades all over the country than the 500 000 that was recorded in Nigeria, adding that Zimbabweans are a loving people who cherish peace.
There will be ten buses to ferry people in and around Zvishavane to and from the venue of the crusades free of charge.
Meanwhile, the Masvingo based Bishop Lincoln Dahwa, of the Gospel Revival International Ministries said the crusade will win many souls for Christ.
“The aim is to bring many people to Christ so that they can find purpose in their lives. The crusade is an inter-denominational outreach programme which seeks to bring people of different churches together in the name of Christ,” said Bishop Dahwa.
During the course of the crusade, he said, there will also be a pastors and leaders conference for all leaders of different churches in Masvingo.
“We feel that we are blessed as the people of Masvingo because we will host the crusade earlier than other places. We encourage people to come and hear the word of God from one of the most gifted preachers of our times.
“Those who seek any form of deliverance and healing should look forward to the Lord doing wonders in their lives,” said Bishop Dahwa.
Healing Jesus Campaign international director, Reverend Eldad Barber said God has remembered the land of Zimbabwe through the crusades.religion
