Nyajena – An eight-year-old girl from Changa village, chief Nyajena area, died after she was hit on the head by a giant rock during a botched robbery on Thursday last week, TellZim News is informed.
The robbers were apparently trying to gain entry into the house when they decided to smash the door with a boulder after the family sleeping inside refused to respond to their orders to open the door.
Margret Changa was sleeping together with her mom Noria Dovi and her other siblings who refused to open the door when the robbers demanded her to do so.
It is said after being hit by the rock, the girl bleed from the nose and mouth and it is suspected her death was caused by the wounds sustained and the severe loss of blood.
A close relative to the deceased narrated that they suspected the robbers had intended to only smash open the door but the rock ended up hitting the young girl and fatally injuring her.
“She was rushed to Nyajena Rural Hospital that night where she was pronounced dead upon arrival,” said the relative
He went on to say that the robbers ran away when Dovi screamed for help from neighbours.
The family suspected that the robbers were after groceries since the deceased’s father who is based in South Africa had just visited his family.
No arrests have been made and the two are still at large.news
