Almost everyone here was shocked when you attacked Kasukuwere of the Gushungo (G40) faction. Of course, Mapombi knew very well nothing will happen to Kasukuwere but the majority who are not privy to your antics are waiting patiently for you to take action. Kkkkkkk kanganwai hama makudo ndeamwe aya!
Anyway, we do not care much about what action you are going to take on Kasukuwere but, certainly, we expect you to reverse Chinamasa’s salary cuts and bonuses scrapping announcement. That much we expect Mr President – especially when elections are fast approaching kudai kkkkkk ko vanyori vemapaper muripiko? I was expecting a headline like – Bob at catch 22 situation. kkkkkkk morumwa nechekuchera gushungo.

I really feel sorry for her – I think the situation would have been different if she had been allowed to go and rest. Moda kuti tiite vekusunda nebhara kuenda kumarally navo kkkkkkkk or kuvaisa mungoro nhai? And some people think it’s normal to address rallies, meetings and funeral gatherings while seated. A-ah kusanyara takatanga kutozvionerawo pana gogo Mahofa isu. Even at Chief Bota’s funeral last week; she addressed mourners while seated mototi zviri normal.
By the way, Mapombi heard things were not right at Chief Bota’s funeral. I heard there was not even a dust road and Zinara grader rakarara richigadzira mugwagwa on the eve of burial. Open defecation rampant in Chiredzi town

CHIREDZI – There are rampant cases of people relieving themselves in the open especially in new and uncompleted residential areas due to lack of sanitary facilities in those areas in Chiredzi town, it has been learnt.
Speaking during an engagement meeting which was facilitated by the Zimbabwean Liberators Platform (ZLP) and attended by residents and council personnel, Tshovani residents complained that open defecation was common in ward 4, 5 and 6.
“There is need to educate residents on hygienic practices so that we avoid another cholera outbreak. If the trend continues, we will end up recording cases of cholera, diarrhoea and typhoid.
“People staying in the newly constructed areas around Joina City just after Makondo and other areas have no running water yet we have many more people moving in there,” said community services officer, Prettymore Chikerema.
In Chiredzi, it has become common for people to move into their houses before they are completed and before all facilities are installed as a way of escaping the burden of paying rent.
Others also move into to their unfinished houses on un-serviced land to protect their structures from thieves.
Residents also said in the Garikai/Hlalani Kuhle houses in ward 4, people are relieving themselves in plastic bags and dumping them anywhere because there is no water in the houses.
“We have some people who throw plastic bags of faeces at neighbours’ homesteads during the night so that they do not have to deal with the matter themselves,” said a resident of the area. 
Town engineer, Wesley Kauma said council would consider barring people from occupying un-serviced houses.
“If this continues we will have to make sure that there are no people who stay in houses with no water and sanitary facilities,” Kauma said.news

CHIREDZI – The water levels of Lake Mutirikwi, Zimbabwe’s largest inland lake, has lowered to 12.6 percent which might risk sugarcane production next season if the country does not receive good rains in the forthcoming rainy season.
Statistics released by the Zimbabwe National Water Supply Association (ZINWA) indicate that the lake’s dam level is currently at 12.6 percent and might continue to decline since the water is used for both domestic and irrigation purposes by Masvingo urban residents and Chiredzi sugarcane farmers respectively.
ZINWA said the lake holds  79 980 mega litres out of its total capacity of 1 378 082 which means the dam has so far lost more than 1 298 100 mega litres of water.
The Operations Manager at Zinwa Runde Catchment Area, Jonathan Juma said the situation has forced his organisation to implement tough water rationing.
He revealed that Zinwa is now releasing only 10.1 cubic metres of water per second against the 32 cubic metres per second which is released when water levels are optimal.
Juma said Zinwa may be forced to stop releasing water for irrigation if the situation in the lake fails to improve so that the little water left can be spared for the domestic needs of the city of Masvingo and the town of Chiredzi.
“The sugar industry is being severely affected by the situation at the lake and as we speak, the farmers have reduced their raw water consumption to 43 percent of what they normally require because all the small dams are already empty,” Juma said.
Though no comment could be obtained from Tongaat Hullet Corporate Affairs Manager, Adelaide Chikunguru, Zimbabwe Sugarcane Development Association (ZSDA) Chairperson Addmore Veterai said farmers were already using water-saving techniques in order to keep their cane alive.
“As sugarcane farmers, we are now in our harvesting period which means the yields that might be affected is next year’s yields but we are fighting to stay on top of the situation.
“We have already adopted water conservation methods because we know that if rains do not come early, we could be in serious trouble,” said Veterai.
Manjirenji dam, which irrigates more than 4 000 hectares of sugarcane plantations in Mkwasine, is virtually empty, meaning there is more pressure on the remaining water bodies.
The El Nino-induced drought has ravaged most parts of the country, with small dams and boreholes in rural areas drying up.news

MASVINGO – A senior officer in the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) Major Manasa Mahapa has organised a free cataract operation camp for the people of Chivi as part of his social responsibility programme.
The project will be run at Chivi District Hospital on September 22 and 23, 2016.
It is a charitable initiative by Major Mahapa to restore the sight of the many elderly rural folk many of whom are living with various levels of reversible blindness due to cataracts.
Major Mahapa has so far managed to mobilise resources and stakeholders in the health sector towards the initiative which is expected to benefit hundreds of cataract suffers who cannot afford to fund their own surgeries.
After being touched by the plight of poor suffers of the condition, the army major engaged Dr Archie Kufa, an eye specialist who helped in the resource mobilisation drive.
“This eye camp is targeted at hundreds of people who will undergo surgery within those two days,” said Major Mahapa.
“We are inviting everybody who needs the operation to Chivi District Hospital for a life-changing experience. Transport arrangements have been put in place to help those travelling from far away places,” he said, encouraging those from nearby places like Zvishavane and Shurugwi to come.
Various goodies also await the elderly who will undergo surgery.
Major Mahapa praised the Hindu Society for being a major donor towards the initiative.
He also commented the Ministry of Health and Child Care, Council for the Blind and other different organisations  for their efforts.
Other big contributors to the initiative include Metro Peach wholesalers.
Acting Medical Officer at the district hospital, Dr William Mawoko will also be helping out during the camp with the screening team of opticians attending to those who need the operation.
Cataract surgery is the removal of  a cloudy lens from the eye, and replacing it with an artificial lens so as to restore clear vision.
The surgery is performed on an outpatient basis.news

MASVINGO – People living with disabilities have expressed disgruntlement over their voting rights being infringed as, many a time, they are told who to vote for yet they have the right to choose candidate of their choice, it was heard during a meeting to align laws affecting people with disabilities to the new constitution at Victoria Primary School last week.
A visually impaired Nyunyutai Phillis Mudzingwa said they are often forced to vote for candidates they do not want simply because they cannot see and write for themselves.
“We want to be recognised and not to be under someone’s shadow like the disabled Bartimaeus in the Bible whose name was really not known but just called son of Timaeus as if he had no right to be named. We don’t want anyone to take us to the ballot boxes telling us who to vote for as if we do not think for ourselves,” said Mudzingwa.
Zimbabwe Albino Association president Kudakwashe Masvinyangwa said all the boards that represent albinos and people living with disabilities should reserve at least 70 percent of the positions to people with disabilities.
“There is nothing for us without us. We need people with disabilities to take top positions in the boards that represent them at national level. Ndini ndine ganda iri and ndini ndinotsva and anyone who is not an Albino cannot perfectly represent me.
“The board should have 70% people with disabilities so that they can fully represent our interests. Hakuna murume angataurira mukadzi kuti nhumbu inorwadza sei,” said Masvinyangwa.
It also emerged that people with disabilities’ rights were often infringed and different organisations lobbed that they should be full and equal freedom like any citizen in the country.
Representatives from uniformed forces, social welfare, ministry of justice and many others were present taking notes at the meeting which was meant to align laws affecting people living with disabilities with the new constitution.news

Masvingo – Disgruntled youth leaders from the opposition political divide have warned Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe (pictured)to take heed of the worsening state of affairs and retire after it turned out that government is no longer able to pay bonuses and intends to cut civil servants’ salaries.
MDC – T National Youth Chairperson, Happymore Chidziva described Mugabe as both blind and deaf who cannot see the pending danger and hear the cries of poor Zimbabweans respectively.
“The wage bill remains a major component of high expenditures, with employment costs taking 96, 8% of the total budget. The wage bill is at the centre of the fiscal deficits and, hence, overall macroeconomic instability,” he said, warning of looming job cuts in the public service.
“The volatile state which we find ourselves in as a country is mainly the making of Robert Mugabe. He (Mugabe) has decided to turn a blind eye to the people’s anger and turned a deaf ear to the cries of poor people. We kindly demand Mugabe to retire and give chance to fresh blood,” said Chidziva.
Chidziva also warned Mugabe that resorting to violence as in 2008 will not help him this time around as people are prepared even to die for change.
“In all its facets, the regime is not budging, Mugabe is sliding back to his modus operandi, his vintage tactics, and State sponsored violence. Using violence will not help Mugabe this time around because people are fed up with his misrule,” Chidziva said.
Zimbabwe People First Deputy National Youth Chairperson, Prosper Gavanga urged youths to humiliate Mugabe via the poll.
“Many youths will be affected by this job cut but remember, whatever we are facing are the last kicks of a dying horse and politically, we should know that the last days of a dictator are painful. It’s just that Mugabe seems to be ignorant to people’s call for him to step down and at the same time failing to foresee the impending danger but generally, his downfall is near and a new Zimbabwe with Dr Joice Mujuru will soon take shape,” Gavanga added.news

Zvishavane – Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) governor Dr John Mangudya (pictured) said some of the laws implemented by government are hindering economic growth and blamed government for the current economic crisis in the country.
Addressing business people at the Great Dyke Business Forum at Pote Hills Lodge in Zvishavane recently, Dr Mangudya decried the implementation of the colonial laws in the new Zimbabwe as a major setback to notable economic growth and hastened to say the majority of the laws should be repealed in order to attract foreign investors.
“The problem is that we are using old instruments on a new situation, we inherited (Ian) Smith’s laws which were meant to stop blacks from making any notable development. Now that we are independent, these laws should be repealed because they were against us. We can’t be prisoners of our own laws, we need to change them so that we attract investors”, Dr Mangudya said.
He assured artisanal miners that the company’s gold trade will be decriminalised in order to improve sales to the RBZ.
“The criminalization of gold panning has led the country to lose tones of gold as ‘Makorokozas’ sell at black markets. We need to formalise artisanal mining in order to increase our production. To the miners I say don’t lose hope, even if you are arrested bring the gold to me,” Dr Mangudya said.
Zvishavane –Ngezi legislator John Holder also took a swipe at various organisations for putting in place contradicting laws which in turn affect business in various ways
“EMA, ZIMRA and Wildlife are a pain in the mining field, their laws contradict in many ways, and they need to come up with a universal law book so that miners can do their work without fear. The gold is going out of the country because the government is doing nothing to encourage artisanal miners to come with it in fact they are arrested if found in possession of gold without a license,” said Holder.news

MASVINGO – The recent announcement by Finance minister Patrick Chinamasa to defer civil servants’ 2016 and 2017 bonuses has sent shock waves across the whole fraternity with the Progressive Teachers’ Union (PTUZ) taking a front role in mobilising workers’ unions to take the war to the government which has trembled upon them for so long.
PTUZ president Dr Takavafira Zhou said the government has declared war on civil servants and it is time all the civil servants fight from one corner so that they can be heard.
“This means war and we will retaliate. We cannot just fold our hands and watch the government treat us like rags.
“We have always called for dialogue with the government but it seems our plea always fall on deaf ears. Now they are telling us we will not be getting our bonuses which boggles the mind since we were never engaged over the development.
“Chinamasa cannot just experiment with us like that. Gone are the days we used to be suppressed and we kept quiet,” said Dr Zhou.
He said they understand the government is hit by financial crisis but money for civil servants can be found if the employer was serious.
“The government has to cut its expenditure by weeding off some unnecessary posts and ministries. Imagine someone spends $200 000 on phone calls alone per month and they tell us there is no money.
“We are not going to accept that and we will take job action against this government. If they have failed why can’t they pave way for others with new ideas? The government is oblivious to the fact that the civil servants they are messing with could be their downfall.
“They cannot tell us to tighten our belts while people like Saviour Kasukuwere and other corrupt ministers are loosening up their belts looting everything in their path,” said Dr Zhou.
Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Union (ZCTU) Secretary General Japhet Moyo said the government has lost respect for its workers and it is time for workers to rise up and be heard.
“We were shocked by Chinamasa’s revelations. He said the same thing last year in April and the President rubbished the claims assuring us of our bonuses. Chinamasa is at it again but the only mistake he made was failure to engage with us.
“We are engaging everybody and we have agreed to launch a massive industrial action registering our dissatisfaction towards the system which aims at imprisoning us,” said Moyo.news

Masvingo – Commissioner General of the Zimbabwe Republic Police, Augustine Chihuri attacked United Family International Church (UFIC) leader, Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa saying his church is full of harlots as was witnessed by the number of used condoms that were found at the venue of Judgment Night 4 held in Harare recently.
Addressing church sermon at Glory Temple in Masvingo on Sunday, Chihuri described both Makandiwa and Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) ministries leader, Walter Magaya as fake prophets.
Referring to Makandiwa and Magaya as ‘Makandigaya’, Chihuri said Makandiwa’s annually held Judgment Night is not Godly since many used condoms were found at the venue. He also attacked Magaya’s anointing water saying God cannot be found in a water bottle.
“Why do you talk of spiritual fathers when God is there to help everyone with the holy anointing we all need? If God offers us all spiritual packages on the table, why then resort to Nigeria and Ghana for spiritual anointing. As a Christian, I am really surprised.
“Now you hold sermons in the name of Judgment Night. Who are you to judge when we are all aware that judgment is withheld by the Lord himself. When we visit the venues you hold that event, we find used condoms and empty beer bottles yet you claim to have been praying,” Chihuri said.
“When you return from those spiritual leaders of yours, you put your gods in bottles of water and sell them to innocent believers. Who duped you to say God stays in a water bottle? We should really shun unfounded ways of prayer and kneel down to ask God of our needs, that way, we will be blessed in abundance,” he added.
Prophets Magaya and Makandiwa have spiritual fathers, Nigerian televangelist TB Joshua and Ghanaian Victor Kusi Boateng respectively.
Efforts to get comments from Makandiwa and magaya were fruitless by time of going to print.
Judgement Night has become an annual gathering at which UFIC members gather for prayer, deliverance and worship led by Makandiwa. International religious figures such as Victor Kusi Boateng and locals such as Uebert Angel have featured at the religious gathering in recent years.news

Teachers in open defecation at education offices?

Masvingo – Homes are the most comfortable places for one to relieve self but the story is different for education officers and teachers who visit the provincial education offices as they are reported to be relieving themselves at an open space at the back of their offices following water disconnections by Masvingo City Council a few weeks ago.
The open space between Masvingo provincial education offices at the Wigley House and Africa Bet shop has since become an eyesore as teachers who had come for business at the offices relieved themselves in the open since the flash system at the education offices was not ‘usable’ following water disconnection by council.
Various concerned stakeholders have since raised complain over the matter and urged council to force closure of all public offices that are running without water.
“Having that office running is a pure violation of the city’s by-laws. Why can’t council close those offices as they do to businesses when they face similar challenges? As a result, Ministry of Education staff are messing up the backyard which separates Wigley House and Africa Bet shop since they have resorted to using the backyard as a toilet,” Masvingo United Residents Alliance (MURRA) coordinator, Anoziva Muguti argued.
Former Masvingo Central legislator Jefferson Chitando said; “Disconnecting water for unpaid bills is a noble idea but I still have another area which I would love council to seriously consider, that is, health issues after the water has been disconnected at a public office. I suggest that City Fathers take a walk to the Ministry of Education backyard behind Wigley House and see the mess there.”
“Workers at the building or visitors have resorted to use the backyard to relieve themselves. Using the ‘mukoto’ as their public toilets does not guarantee paying off the debt but rather affects loyal ratepayers and other residents’ health. Council should therefore enforce their by-laws and close this office until they have running water,” Chitando added.
When contacted for comment, Masvingo Provincial Education Director Zedias Chitiga dismissed the allegations that teachers and education officers were responsible for the mess saying they were equally worried with waste.
"We are also concerned about the open defecation; I would want to believe it's the street kids who are doing it. I am certain it is not any of our education officers or teachers who visit our offices. We have been talking about this issue for quite some time and we hope council will help by cleaning the area," said Chitiga.
Masvingo Acting Mayor, James Chiwara also lashed out at the government employees and said they are threatening the city’s sanity and health.
“What they are doing is very dangerous. Open defecation is very bad especially practicing it in the city centre. It is just a clear reflection that they do not care about people’s health. Council’s policy on such actions is clear, people should not defecate everywhere. We have been sincere as council because we would have closed that office upon disconnecting water but we had pitted them because of the nature of their work,” said Chiwara.news
