MASVINGO – The Alliance Church in Zimbabwe’s Mucheke assembly is set to host the inaugural Jabula/Ngatitambe Clash of Choirs on October 29 as part of efforts to spread the word of God through music.
The event will see a host of churches in Masvingo coming together for a rare treat of evangelism through choral music.
Doubling as a family fun day, the event will be filled with the best treats for parents and their children.
The competitions will accord the best choirs from all churches in the city an opportunity to spread the word of God while learning form others.
Speaking to TellZim News, one of the coordinators of the event, Bebe Mangwanya said the festival was a first for Masvingo and was a unique way of showing unity in Christ.
“This event is all about bringing together churches that make up the body of Christ so that they showcase their talents while learning from others with different choral music skills,” said Mangwanya.
Being in its year of inception, the festival has a chance to grow bigger and set Masvingo up as the home of the best Christian choirs.
Some 20 choirs from churches like UFIC, AFM and the host Alliance Church in Zimbabwe have already registered to participate in the festival.
Famous gospel musician Bethany and her husband Lyton Ngolomi will be part of the adjudication panel.
The Jabula/Ngatitambe Clash of Choirs is inspired mainly by other clash of choirs from countries like South Africa.
As part of its development and decentralisation, next editions of the Jabula/Ngatitambe Clash of Choirs will be held in neighbouring towns like Zvishavane.
Entry is open to members of the public and tickets are going for US$1 for adults with kids required to pay only half the amount.news
