Dr Win Mlambo
…supporters bashed, attempts to mobilise against Porusingazi stalls

25 March 2017, CHIPINGE – Attempts by the Deputy Minister of Information Technologies, Postal and Courier Services, Dr Win Mlambo for a comeback following his flight from a rally which was disrupted by angry Zanu PF youths from a rival faction a fortnight ago, hit a snag last week after police denied him permission to hold a meeting in Chipinge South.
The Chipinge East legislator, who is allegedly aligned to the Generation 40 (G40) faction which is against Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa replacing President Robert Mugabe in the hot succession battle, was barred by armed riot police from holding a meeting in Chipinge South over the weekend.
Dr Mlambo confirmed the development and hastened to accuse Enock Porusingazi, the Chipinge East legislator of hiring youths to brutalise his supporters.
“The police denied us clearance to hold the meeting. We had a truck full of people who wanted to defect to Zanu PF but we failed to hold our meeting because the police refused to clear us. There are party bigwigs who were afraid that they would be exposed by the people who wanted to defect to us so they connived to disturb the planned gathering. The (police) support unit came to restore order. Those big wigs lied to the police so that we are denied a clearance,” said Dr Mlambo.
The youths who had been brought by Dr Mlambo were offloaded at Checheche for the meeting but were met with violence by supporters of Porusingazi, who is suspected to be in the Team Lacoste faction.
Porusingazi, however, attacked Mlambo for lacking respect and causing chaos in the constituency.
“It is true there are youth fighting for me in my absence because they are tired of Mlambo who is abandoning his constituency to cause chaos in a constituency that’s not his. He was recently ordered to abort a meeting at Checheche by riot police because the meeting was never cleared but now he is at it again,” said Porusingazi
Dr Mlambo was a fortnight ago forced to flee from a meeting at Checheche after rowdy youth advanced to attack him for allegedly de-campaigning Porusingazi and harbouring sinister intentions.
He allegedly bussed in loyal supporters from his constituency last week in order to prevent a repeat of what had happened to him but the supporters were reportedly beaten and chased from the venue once again.politics
