Hate him or like him, Wellington Mahwende – a Masvingo based private land developer of the December 12 has managed to transform Victoria Ranch.
Home seekers in the low income bracket have testified that they are now able to construct their own houses in the Remainder of Victoria Ranch, thanks to Mahwende’s tailor-made conditions meant for every home seeker from all walks of life.
December 12 has been praised for managing to connect sewer and water to homes in Victoria Ranch.
“I am very excited that I now have water and sewer connected at my house. It has been my dream to have water and sewer at my house and today my dream has been realised,” one of the beneficiaries told TellZim News on Wednesday.
Mahwende told TellZim News that they have so far managed to connect water to over 80 percent of their beneficiaries while almost 40 percent now have sewer connected at their houses.
Mahwende said his wish was to see every house connected to sewer and water by year end.
“We are working day and night to make sure that the people in Victoria Ranch get water and sewer at their homes as soon as possible. Some of us are not excited by simply making promises; we actually go on the ground to deliver … this is what has made us different from other people,” said Mahwende.
Apart from connecting water and sewer, December 12 has since embarked on a massive road maintenance with bridges being put in place in Victoria Ranch for the first time.
“I can confirm that we are going to make sure that Victoria Ranch will be like any other residential surbub in Masvingo. The people who got stands from us must never be deprived in any way. In fact, we want to show the world that we are able to develop our own city,” said Mahwende.
He thanked President Robert Mugabe for empowering indigenous people.
“As the spirit of independence is still upon us, I want to thank President Robert Mugabe for empowering us…now we are proud home owners courtesy of his pro-development policies,” added Mahwende.local
