Her name is Dillish Makatendeka Masango; indeed she is living up to the definition of her name, Dillish which means ‘we are happy’.
She has made both her family and the people around her happy, which has become the talk of the town, conquering world stages at such a tender age.
Masango who is only six years old is defying odds, and proving the point that hard work pays off after she was being awarded a scholarship at one of the most prestigious schools in Masvingo, Junior Primary by the company Junior Private Limited.
Junior Schools Director Noah Marima confirmed the development and said the school had awarded Masango the scholarship that would enable her to learn Cambridge curriculum and lessen the fees burden on her parents.
“She (Dillish) is doing well in modelling and her engagement and peer influence are out of this world. So, giving her a scholarship to learn at a Cambridge centre would further help her grow since the Cambridge curriculum demands diversity in problem solving. It is also a gesture of corporate social responsibility,” said Marima.
Masango’s mother, Rumbidzai Chisangowerotah could not hide her happiness over the recent opportunity that her daughter got and thanked the staff at her former school Victoria Primary for the investment and effort placed on the young model’s journey so far.
“I am happy for the recognition my daughter got from Junior Compan, Mr and Mrs Marima. i want to thank them for the oppotunity and it is my hope that Dillish will make the best out of it. however, she would not have made it this far if had not gotten support from Vic Junior. I consider the institution as the best government school in Zimbabwe as they have helped in molding Dillish into a first-class learner and now here is she. I am also grateful to Dr Mashuro (school head) and the entire staff as well as Mr Chengeta who ran around tirelessly trying to secure Dillish a first position in all her endeavors,” said Chisangowerotah.
Masango made headlines in the modelling world after she was first crowned Miss Victoria Primary School at the age of five in 2022 and later won two more beauty pageants, Queen of Masvingo Primary Schools and Toto Miss Africa Zimbabwe.
She later went on to represent her motherland, Zimbabwe in Nigeria where she bagged three titles, second runner up Little Mr and Miss Toto Africa, Miss Smile and Miss Popularity after which she was supposed to participate in Florida, United States of America at the World Imperial Beauties.
Masango who also recently won First Princess title at the Face of Kids Teen and Hub pageant and is tipped for another pageant, Miss Phenomenal Africa where she will be representing Zimbabwe.
