13 March 2017, ZVISHAVANE – Constable Dominick Shuro of Zvishavane police station was last week named best police officer at an awards ceremony hosted by platinum mining giant, Mimosa.
The awards, held at the police station, saw Constable Shuro walking away with a Defy refrigerator valued at US$530, US$100 in cash, a certificate, and a trophy.
Constable Shuro was named overall winner after scooping several cop of the month titles for the year 2016.
Other police officers also won cash prizes and certificates.
Mimosa sponsors the awards yearly as a way of rewarding exceptional members of the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Zvishavane district.
The awards are also a way of motivating members of the police force to go an extra mile in the fight against crime.
Mimosa general manager, Alex Mushonhiwa praised the winners for being outstanding in maintaining a crime-free environment, saying the company will continue to reward excellent law enforcement efforts.
“We have our motto ‘Let’s Go Zero’ and we are willing to work hand in glove with police to fight crime and reduce road accidents,” said Mushonhiwa.
Speaking the ceremony, Midlands Propol, Assistant Commissioner Charles Ndoro thanked Mimosa for being a responsible member of the Zvishavane community.
“I want to thank Mimosa for their input in the success of this event and I call upon them to keep working with us,” Assistant Commissioner Ndoro said.
In his speech, Zvishavane Dispol, Chief Superintendent Edward Ncube also applauded the mining company for investing in the morale of members of the police force.
Chief Superintendent Ncube revealed that sniff dogs will be introduced at Zvishavane police station to increase efficiency in the execution of duties by police officers with the mining company pledging to build kennels for the dogs.business
