MASVINGO – Some Ndarama Government High alumni have formed an association which they hope will harness the energy of all those interested in contributing to the development of the school.
Ndarama Old Students Association (NOSA) secretary general Hardlife Mugota urged former students around the world to come and join hands to improve conditions at the school.
The association was launched on last month (December, 23 2017) with Godwin Mangudya being elected inaugural chairperson.
“We felt the need to have an association that will bridge the gap between former students and Ndarama while, in the process, helping to improve standards at the school,” Mugota said.
He credited the success of the initiative to the power of social media, saying a WhatsApp group with few former students managed to net many more from elsewhere.
NOSA treasurer Anna Mwenezuka said the association was made up of members who have the best interests of Ndarama High School at heart.
“The coordination is excellent and the dream is to see our school growing. Some of our short term goals include providing stationary and study material to less privileged students as well as doing all that we can to keep them in school.
“In the long term, we aim to contribute to the transformation of Ndarama through infrastructure development to improve learning facilities. We want to see a school hall and a fully equipped study centre being built,” Mwenezuka said.
Ndarama High School head Shirley Makausi said she welcomed the idea as it grew out of the desire to take forward the developmental goals of the school.
“They came to the school and engaged us on their plans to form an association and we gave them our blessings. We are confident the ex-students will use their influence in society for the good of the school,” said Makausi.education
