New committee for Charles Austin theatre

Masvingo City Council has appointed a new committee to run Charles Austin theatre after the dissolution of outgoing committee on allegations of lack of activity .
The new committee’s public relations officer Engineer Emmanuel Simon Sakala said council appointed a 10 committee member for Charles Austin theatre.
“Council has appointed 10 interim committee members of the Charles Austin theatre to occupy the positions of Chairperson, vice chairperson, Secretary, vice Secretary, Treasurer, Public Relations Officer, Resident Director, Resident Writer and two Committee members,” said Sakala .
Fredrick Matavikwa was appointed Chairperson and he is a holder of a BSC in Physical Education and Sport, Diploma in Education. He has 23 years’ experience working in the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education and worked as a cluster, District coordinator Sports Arts Culture Officer. Matavikwa is currently the Provincial Schools Inspector, Physical Education and Culture. His other duties include Provincial coordination Entertainment Committee, Provincial Advisor (NAPH & NASH) as well as Visual and Performing Arts plus PESMD.

Vice Chairperson Tichamupei Comfort Nyandoro

Tichamupei Comfort Nyandoro was appointed Vice Chairperson. She is the Founder and Director of Zimbabwe Performing Arts for Schools Trust (ZIMPAST). She is also an author who recently published an individual book titled ‘Zvichatinakira’, as well as contributed in 7 published poetry anthologies. A teacher by profession, Nyandoro is also an actress and starred in the Nama Nominee short film titled Konflict. She is a holder of a Certificate in Creative Entrepreneurship and Masters in Early Childhood Education.
Doctor Phanos Matura (Ph.D.) is the new Secretary. He is a registered professional musician, guitarist, dancer and composer with two studio music albums. He is an Events Director and Chairperson for Zimbabwe Musicians Union (ZIMU) Masvingo Province. Dr. Matura holds a certificate in tourism and hospitality; Ph.D, Msc, Bsc Degrees and also in tertiary education with a Post Graduate Diploma. He is also a Tourism Consultant and a Tourism lecturer at Great Zimbabwe University.
Vice Secretary is Millicent Chapwanya popularly known as Millicent Wezhira Poet. She is a Starbrite winner of the 2016 Non singing category.
The Treasurer is Julius Sadi who is Founder and Director of Downy Pictures. He is a holder of a Master of Commerce in Strategic Management from GZU. Sadi is the Writer and Producer for a feature film Shingai as well as Manager for Tapslee an Afro Pop musician. He is also an Actor at Savannah Arts Township Theatre and Artistic Director at Pamuzinda Theatre Productions.
Public Relations Officer, Sakala (33) is the Founder and Managing Director of Music Conah. He specializes in Music, Sound, Multimedia Equipment Retail and Services. He is a musician (semi-finalist in Starbrite and Dreamstar 2012, 2014), with 2 EPs and 4 singles. He is a holder of an Honors Degree in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering (NUST, 2015).
The Resident Director Mlalazi is a professional Master of Ceremonies, Actor, Script writer and Movie Director who starred in the movie Gonarezhou.
Anusa Salanje is the resident writer. He is a visual artist (painter/sculptor) and a holder of a Diploma in Eductaion. Salanje has received awards from the National Gallery of Zimbabwe and Gallery Delta and has been exhibiting since 2002.
The Committee Members are Blessing Maramba populary known as ‘Wekwamaramba’ who is an Afro-Jazz fusion artist, musician, singer and songwriter as well as a Chemical Engineer. He is also a committee member of ZIMPAST and Tarisayi Gwizhi who is an actor and a script writer with great passion for Arts,” said Sakala.
