Masvingo MPs not cabinet material – Rugeje

National Political Commissar Rtd Lt Gen Engelbert Rugeje

. . . Don’t blame ED, go to school
. . . being minister is not as easy as drinking opaque beer

Brilliant Mukaro

BIKITA – ZANU PF National Political Commissar Rtd Lt Gen Engelbert Rugeje recently took a dig on Masvingo Members of Parliament (MPs) saying most of them are uneducated opportunists who make it difficult for the appointing authority to choose ministers from the province.
Addressing party supporters during the celebrations for his appointment a fortnight ago at Nyika growth point, Rugeje said the people of Masvingo are quick to apportion the blame on others when they fail to get ministerial positions.
He said the problem is that the people who get into power do not possess the necessary qualifications to hold ministerial posts.
“We have cried for a long time asking why people from Masvingo are not given ministerial posts. We should know that being a minister is not a walk in the park and it is different from sharing opaque beer.
“It is a task that requires mental capabilities and strong academic backgrounds,” said Rtd Lt Gen Rugeje.
He also took the moment to attack axed Bikita South MP Jeppy Jaboon and former provincial youth league chairperson Nobert Ndaarombe.
He said the two thought were invincible and at one time Jaboon told Rugeje to move out of the barracks and remove his uniform if he wanted to join politics.
“We will ensure that the youth know the ideology of the party. Can you imagine that Jaboon told me to remove my uniform and join politics and now I have removed the uniform and where is he?” asked Rtd Lt Gen Rugeje rhetorically.
He also took the chance to educate the people on the position of the party regarding party regalia as he warned people not to wear T shirts bearing Mugabe’s image when coming to Zanu PF meetings.top news

Women weep uncontrollably as first lady bids farewell

Women weep at rally

Itai Muzondo
Midlands Bureau

MVUMA – Many women who attended President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s mini rally at Mvuma Stadium today (Saturday) cried when it was announced that first lady Auxillia Mnangagwa will not be contesting to retain the Chirumhanzu-Zibagwe seat in the upcoming elections.

President Mnangagwa told the crowd that his wife had relinquished the post of MP to concentrate on her new role as first lady.
A group of women wept uncontrollably after the announcement and it took security personnel and ushers to calm and return them to their seats.

Some women, however, started crying long before President Mnangagwa had announced the ‘sad news’, causing many people to suspect that it was all a stage-managed show of emotions.

More to it, known Zanu PF youths from Masvingo were also among the weepers.

“You have been working with Amai Mnangagwa as your MP.
“When I returned from exile, she advised me that since I was now President and she was first lady, she wanted to step down as MP for Chirumanzu-Zibagwe and concentrate on her duty as mother of the nation.
“We have therefore agreed that she steps down and seizes to be MP forthwith.
“This does not mean she will abandon you but she will continue to support you and continue with projects she has been doing,” Mnangagwa said.

He said the Chirumanzu-Zibagwe constituency had to choose a replacement.
Mnangagwa had earlier chronicled how the first lady worked in the constituency from the time he was MP for the area in 2008.
He said the first lady continued with the projects when she became MP for the area after his elevation to the Vice Presidency in 2014.
Projects done by the first lady include a women’s bank, community gardens and women’s clubs. She is also leading the construction of a new Zanu PF  district office in Mvuma.
The President spoke glowingly about his wife, pointing out that legislators who had remained in touch with their constituencies like she did deserved to be re-elected.
Currently, the first lady is the Ministry of Health’s ambassador in the  fight against cervical cancer.
She has been to Bulawayo and Gweru advocating for early treatment of cancer.top news

Tellzim bags more awards

Numero Uno…TellZim News reporters Memory Rasa and Tinomutenda Chatikobo pose for a photo soon after scooping the prestigious national Road Traffic Safety Awards held in Harare last Friday.

TellZim Reporter

Tellzim News, the most sought after regional newspaper in the country, has won yet another national award for its outstanding coverage on road traffic accidents.
Two of its interns, Tinomutenda Chatikobo and Memory Rasa scooped the Best Student Reporter of the Year and Second Runner-up respectively at the just ended fifth edition of the Road Safety Journalistic Awards (RSJA) held in Harare last Friday.
The media house was also nominated for the Best Media House of the Year Award which was eventually won by the Sunday News.
Chatikobo and Rasa beat many other interns from national and community newspapers to win the prestigious awards.
Chatikobo received $700 cash and a shield for the grand prize while Rasa went back home $200 richer.
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Development Dr Jorum Gumbo hailed all the winners for a sterling job saying the media play a critical role in fight against road carnage in the country.
“The media have a role to play in as far as the terming of the traffic jungle in Zimbabwe is concerned. The jungle behavior of some road users, unlicensed drivers and those bribed to obtain driving licenses must be exposed. We depend on our media and I am very happy for events such as these as they encourage other journalist to work and expose such corruption,” said Gumbo.
He also took a dig at the VID officials whom he accused of corruptly issuing drivers’ licenses.
“There are a lot of corruption stories at the VID. I have received several reports about how they connive with driving schools to fraudulently issue licenses. That must come to an end,” said Gumbo.
“This is surely unacceptable. Prompt action especially against corrupt officers must be taken. This year, we will deal with everyone and we will visit everywhere to assess how drivers’ licenses are being issued,” he added.
Chatikobo and Rasa are media students at Great Zimbabwe University (GZU) and are currently attached at TellZim.
Andrew Kunhambura of the Financial Gazette scooped the Best Reporter of the Year (print) while Tawanda Gudhlanga and Andrew Neshamba were best for radio and television respectively, with each walking away with $700 and a shield.top news

Chamisa’s biggest mistake

0

E-eh Chitiudzai tinzwe imi vanhu veMDC-T; you used to attack Zanu PF for using yester year pictures of former President Robert Mugabe on their posters saying they should use the current pictures of Bob akaunyana because of his advanced age.
Mapombi has seen MDC Alliance posters pasted all over in town but what caught my eyes is a yester year picture of Morgan Tsvangirai achine mazitama kudai and I asked myself why can’t they use a current picture of him like what they wanted Zanu PF to do during the Mugabe era?
We want to see a fragile Tsvangirai on your posters the same way you wanted to see Zanu PF using Mugabe’s current pictures then.  Zanu PF is now using current pictures of Mnangagwa and Mapombi is challenging MDC-T kuti tiisireiwo picture yaTsvangirai sezvaari iyezvino tione tigovhota tichiziva.
Mapombi has been on record telling that MDC dzungu rinodzoka rowandisa; they request for others to do things they cannot do themselves. They always complain that Zanu PF did this and that but they will never tell you what they can do asi wotonzwa vachitoti new Zimbabwe is coming kkkkkkkk baba vangu mushayamutupo iwe.
Mapombi is always a gentleman handivanzi ini; I hate Zanu PF because today I am a destitute because of them. I do not have a job, though kuchikoro ndakatoendawo, because of Zanu PF’s corruption. I don’t have a husband because no man wants to marry a filthy woman like me and it’s all because of Zanu PF which destroyed the economy. I’m even staying at Chitima market because I cannot afford to pay rentals at a decent place and again it’s because of Zanu PF.
But when I look to MDC as an option or hope for the future, my heart beats even faster – there is total chaos and confusion in that party zvekuti unotoona kuti the devil I know is a better devil. At least with Zanu PF nhamo yangu ndatoijaira than what I’m likely to face if I give my vote to MDC yenyu iyi. At least ED is talking sense these days though he is still far from being pragmatic. Ko chiiko chinombonetsa nhai Shumba Murambwi? Kana mati CSC iri kuvhurwa we want to see action ka not just sweet talk.
You give yourself 100 days action plan but it’s almost lapsing pasina kana action yatamboona except visiting other countries and going to Doves; or is it Davos? Hameno!
Mapombi has helped quite a number of politicians especially those who care to listen to her advice. Of course I am a lowly rated woman because I stay at Chitima and I survive on rotten bananas and maputi anenge akangwa nemoto wemaplastic.
I have a message for my young brother Nelson Chamisa – you have a lot of potential but ukaita zvekutamba unoita saMoses wemuBhaibheri. Mapombi heard Moses could not get to Canaan  – God took him to the mountain and showed him from a distance how Canaan was like ndobva zvangopera zvakadaro.
Chamisa might think he is shoo in to replace Tsvangirai but things can change anytime. Being at the front in the first round of a 12-rounds competition does not mean one would maintain the lead to the end. MDC-T needs a unifier at the moment not someone who elbows others out. Chamisa lacks the unifying element which Mudzuri has in abundance, while elbowing others seems to be the daily bread for the youngest VP.
Chamisa should learn to build bridges and smoke the peace pipe with perceived enemies like Khupe – it is very critical for MDC-T.  Mapombi believes it is even more difficult to hate each other than to like one another – you are a pastor my brother it’s high time you preach and demonstrate peace and unity in the party. Those two are still lacking in Chamisa and Mapombi is not sure if just being charismatic alone will make him win the battle especially against Khupe.
All that MDC needs is a unifier because the party s disintegrated at the moment. Mapombi have realized that Chamisa might be fooling himself thinking that being charismatic is all he needs to win ticket to replace Tsvangirai.
If one fails to unite few disgruntled party members what more about the whole nation with different races and people from different political parties? Mind you Mapombi will not benefit anything even if Chamisa gets into power but he will benefits more if he listens to my advice if he really wants to be the MDC Alliance candidate in the forthcoming elections. Unite people and preach peace my brother or else unofa nenyota makumbo ari mumvura.
When one is readying self for a big position dzungu roda kuitwa shoma hama dzangu. A good leader must be honest and truthful all the time. Izvo zvekungorotomoka senge Bob ayewa. We don’t want leaders who lie at all – the $15billion promise and stuff. Chamisa must apologise for that.
I have seen a recent tweet post by young Chamisa – e-eh ko maSmart phone azara chero kwedu kuChitima uko tinongoratidzwawo nematicha anenge auya kuzotenga mabanana nemadomasi akachipazve. The tweet, which I assume was a desperate move by Chamisa to defend self that he is not immature, had some emotions in the background.
Listen my brother and listen very carefully; people say a lot but a good leader rarely respond to every Tom and Jerry – let the people defend you. We have seen it before and we are still seeing it even in MDC vanhu vachirwira Tsvangirai icho chakanyarara zvacho Morgan. Ndozvinoitwa nemutungamiriri chaiye chaiye. ED was attacked left, right and centre with Grace but he remained quite while the small boys vana Matuke, Mangwana and others fight for him. Learn to listen my little brother.
Also don’t be too excited to an extent of revealing diplomatic meeting details. Yes, Mapombi agrees that you might have been promised the $15billion you were talking about but was the information meant for public consumption or was given in confidence?  Kupererwa nezvekutaura here kunoita kuti munhu apedzisire ongorotomoka kudaro? Haa manage your excitement mhani – after all people will not vote for MDC simply because you told them you were promised $15 billion.
It’s almost lunch time let me go ndindokanga zvangu maputi angu for lunch. This Saturday I will be at Mucheke Stadium timbonzwa kuti Alliance iri kutiiko. Hopefully they are not coming down here kuzongotuka Zanu PF chete chete; we also want to hear what do they want to offer if we vote them in the forthcoming elections.
By the way, I heard Mujuru and Mugabe are trying to cook something kkkkkkkkk Mapombi will not say more. I’m sure Mphoko will join soon. I terribly miss Mphoko vakomana. Mboko imboko!mapombi

Zivhu declares interest in Chivi South

. . . donates 2 000 bags of cement to 50 schools as he kick-starts campaign

Moses Ziyambi

NGUNDU – Chivi Rural District Council (RDC) chairperson, Dr Killer Zivhu has declared his interest to contest for the Chivi South parliamentary seat, saying the time he spent with the local authority has adequately prepared him for bigger responsibilities.
Zivhu was speaking at Shindi Secondary School, Ward 26, where he donated 2 000 bags of cement to 50 schools as part of his efforts to improve educational facilities in the district through the second phase of his village ZimAsset initiative.
He promised to source for more cement for schools if the cement current donation is not enough for the work at hand.
“I am now ready to go to parliament. When the time for primaries come, I will come to you. I have already told my elder brother here (incumbent Chivi South Member of Parliament, Mafios Vutete) that this time around we will lock horns in the primaries. There is no offence in that. I am ready to go to parliament if you agree,” said Zivhu amid applause from the large gathering which included Vutete himself.
The declaration of interest, which did not seem to surprise the gathering owing to the work that the philanthropist has carried out in the district and beyond, was endorsed by all speakers including Chief Shindi.
“Dr Zivhu is a son of this land and we are proud of the work he is doing for the development of our communities. His hard work and generosity is a matter of public record not only in Chivi but in as faraway places as Nyanga. Who are we then to say such a leader should not go to parliament? We say to him please go, you have our full backing,” said Chief Shindi.
Recipient primary and secondary schools included Dikwindi, Shindi, Sadzangwena, Chihaya, Dzingirai, Nyahombe, Simudzirai, Matanda Maviri, Gororo, Zunga, Shongamiti, Chebvumbi, Madzivire, Ngundu, Neruvanga, Vutete and Runesu.
Zivhu later told TellZim News if he makes it to parliament, he would use the new position to bring more opportunities to Chivi.
“I would be in a position to attract more respect from the people who can help our communities grow therefore, it would be an opportunity to attract more goodwill and investment,” said Zivhu.
He praised Rtd Col Manasa Mahapa, who was also present, as well as other members of the Chivi Sons and Daughters, a local resource-mobilisation group, for making contributions towards the cause.
He urged successful people with roots in Chivi to come and contribute to the development of their areas.
Other dignitaries present were Chief Nemauzhe, headman Madzivire, Chivi District Schools Inspector (DSI) Isaac Gwamuri, Gutu district administrator (DA) Wafios Hlavati (who represented the Minister of State for Masvingo Provincial Affairs, Josaya Hungwe), councillors and school heads.politics

Chiredzi Town chair donates to primary pupils

Francis Moyo

Beatific Gumbwanda

CHIREDZI – Chiredzi Town Council chairperson, Francis Moyo recently donated more than 2 000 stationery items to newly-enrolled grade one pupils from various schools in the town as part of his programme to help the less privileged.
Moyo, who intends to contest for the Chiredzi West parliamentary seat on a Zanu PF ticket, has since 2015 been paying fees for some pupils at such primary schools as Tshovani, Chiredzi Government, Lowveld Adventist and Shingai.
The recent donation has however reached more pupils from many other schools in the town, with Moyo emphasising that the work must not be linked to his political ambitions.
“This is not for the purposes of campaigning but it’s an annual programme that has been going on for some time now. Grade one pupils are the base of education so children should begin the race on an equal footing.
“Many pupils are failing not because they are dull but because some of their requirements have not been taken care of. Right now, we do have parents who genuinely cannot afford to buy books for their children.
“I have seen some pupils being sent back home for such simple things as exercise book covers, meaning that their parents do not have money to buy even such cheap items,” said Moyo.local

Mujuru in Gweru ‘secret’ meeting

Joice Mujuru

Itai Muzondo in Gweru

GWERU – National People’s Party (NPP) leader Joyce Mujuru last week conducted a secret meeting at Gweru’s Elephant Lodge where she allegedly mapped the way forward in the candidate selection processes for the People’s Rainbow Coalition (PRC).
Sources who attended the meeting told TellZim News that Mujuru and her coalition partners are in the process of distributing constituencies and wards across the country ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
“We had a meeting with Mujuru today (January 31, 2018) where we strategised on the distribution of constituencies and wards to all the coalition partners. It was a private meeting as we felt accepting outsiders would jeopadise our plans and proceedings.
“The meeting resolved that the coalition parties will meet again on February, 14 to come up with the final list of representatives,” said a source at the meeting.
NPP national spokesperson Jefferyson Chitando could not comment on the meeting since he was not present but confirmed that the PRC will be meeting in Gweru on February 14, 2018 for a candidate selection process.
“I am not aware of any detail from that meeting but I am aware the PRC is meeting in Gweru of February 14 to select candidates who will represent the coalition in the coming election,” said Chitando.politics

MWENEZI – Barely 10 months after assuming office and just a little over six months before another election, Mwenezi East Member of Parliament (MP) Joosbi Omar has started a programme of identifying all areas of need and fulfilling election promises.
Last weekend, the MP organised many constituency development committee meetings in various wards to preach development and mobilise support for President Emmerson Mnangagwa ahead of the elections.
In Ward 4, Omar donated a water pump to Chizumba Primary School, uniforms to village health workers and stationery that included 1 900 exercise books to nine primary schools.
Some 20 bags of cement were donated towards the construction of enclosures for villagers of Ward 6 who are engaging in cattle fattening.
At one of the meetings, Omar said a total of 200 benches had been made to improve sitting
“The time for shifting blame is over, and the time for action is now. We must unite and work tirelessly to ensure meaningful development in accordance with the vision of President Mnangagwa; the time for empty slogans is over,” said Omar.
He also told the gathering, which included Chief Mawarire, that new projects to empower the less privileged people of Mwenezi East were being explored.
“In the coming weeks, we will kick start projects that will enable villagers to be their own masters. We also want to ensure that our dams are fully utilised for income-generating projects. Let’s all work for unity and development and ensure that President Mnangangwa wins the upcoming elections,” said Omar.
At Bongo in Chingwizi, Omar made a commitment to bring building materials for the construction of a classroom block at Nyuni Primary School.
He listened to accounts of local problems that included water shortages and the delay in fully compensating the people who were displaced by the construction of Tokwe Mukosi Dam.
Omar, who has built a state-of-the-art constituency development office at Rutenga for the reception of developmental needs, said he was committed to bringing investment to the area.local

I am the most powerful chair in the country – Chadzamira brags

Ezra Chadzamira

Brighton Chiseva

MASVINGO – Zanu PF Masvingo provincial chairman Ezra Chadzamira, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Masvingo West, recently bragged that he was the most powerful chairperson in the country saying many powerful persons including President Emmerson Mnangagwa, by virtue of his supposed connections to the province, were under him.
Addressing Zanu PF members during a celebration party held for local senior party members elevated to the politburo and appointed ministers, Chadzamira said no other party chair commanded as much power and respect as him.
“I am the most powerful chairman in the country; all these ministers and politburo members with whom we are celebrating today are under my leadership. Even the President falls under my province and I am his chairman.
“I am the only elected chairman; even G40 tried to fire me but failed. That shows how powerful I am,” Chadzamira said.
He also praised himself for standing his ground and surviving the factional purges that were carried out against some party members by the G40 cabal before Operation Restore Legacy.politics

Opposition takes Alliance to Masvingo

President Tsvangirai

Upenyu Chaota

Masvingo – All roads lead to Mamutse Stadium this Sunday where the MDC Alliance, led by acting chairperson Nelson Chamisa, will address their maiden rally in Masvingo province.
MDC-T failed to garner a single seat out of the 26 constituencies in Masvingo province at 2013 harmonised elections and they are hoping to dislodge Zanu PF in the forthcoming elections.
Chamisa said the wheels of change have been set in motion and the people of Masvingo are a very important lot in the governing of the country.
“Masvingo is very important in the politics of the country. We want to assure the people of Masvingo that the time for change has come and victory is certain.
“Masvingo has been our stronghold for all the years and we want to make sure that in the coming elections we take back all the seats,” said Chamisa.
Provincial chairperson James Gumbi said preparations for the rally are at an advanced stage and they are expecting over 10 000 people.
“This is going to be a historic rally because we have never organised something of this magnitude before. Masvingo is going to speak through the numbers that will attend the rally.
“We want to make noise so that the whole country will notice that Masvingo believes in the leadership of president Tsvangirai,” said Gumbi.
Other coalition partners among them Tendai Biti, Welshman Ncube, Agrippa Mutambara, Jacob Ngarivhume and others are expected to address the rally.
The MDC Alliance will have to battle it out for numbers with Zanu PF in Masvingo province since it is President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s stronghold as well. Mnangagwa enjoys a lot of support in Masvingo province.local
