Dokora must fall

Lazarous Dokora

‘He is a typical farm manager not education minister’

Upenyu Chaota

01 Dec 2017
– The education fraternity in the country has pleaded with President Emmerson Mnangagwa to do a complete overhaul of the country’s education system by weeding off incompetent elements among them former Primary and Secondary Education minister Lazarus Dokora when he appoints his new cabinet.
A number of school heads in Masvingo province as well as teachers’ organisations have expressed concern over the manner in which Dokora ran the ministry saying he was a bully and a dictator who did not consult before implementing his inferior policies like the new curriculum.
The new curriculum has received widespread condemnation with President Mnangagwa once questioning the manner of its implementation when he was still vice president earlier this year.
Progressive Teachers’ Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) president Dr Takavafira Zhou said the whole Dokora approach should just be dispensed.
“It would be unfair to get rid of Dokora only in this whole equation. His former deputy minister and the permanent secretary must go too.
“We do not want to entrust the educational system into the wrong people. Mugabe made a mistake by giving us Dokora and was even deaf when people demonstrated against his leadership.
“President Mnangagwa should know that we need a minister who knows what he or she is doing to better the system, not making it worse and bully teachers around,” said Dr Zhou.
In a statement dated November 19, 2017, the Amalgamated Rural Teachers’ Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ) described Dokoras as the worst minister of education that Zimbabwe has had since 1980.
The statement says Dokora has managed to cling on to power because of bootlicking former President Mugabe and his wife Grace.
“Now that Mugabe is gone, Dokora should go too. Dokora is guilty of many sins in the education sector. He has failed to reign in on ZIMSEC which continues to leak examination papers thereby discrediting the country’s examination system.
“Dokora should be thrown out and replaced by capable and competent leaders with a commitment of transforming our education system for the better. In the new Zimbabwe people like Dokora should not be given any ministerial post.
“Dokora is guilty of disastrous formulation and implementation of a new curriculum, introducing Grade 7 examination fees which undermines the right to basic education for all,” reads the statement by ARTUZ.
School heads in Masvingo also added their voices condemning Dokora for his poor policies. Two months ago, school heads in Masvingo once described Dokora as a foolish minister who hardly knows anything.
“Our prayer is that we will not get another Dokora as the minister. Dokora was terrible I tell you. No one was happy with him and we hope President Mnangagwa will assign a better candidate to the ministry,” said one school head.
“It is disastrous to have someone who wants to prove a point at every turn. Dokora was so obsessed with implementing his new curriculum and turned a blind eye to its flaws. The new minister should do away with the new curriculum and begin consultations first,” said another head on conditions of anonymity.
Another head was of the view that Dokora should manage a farm not a whole ministry because he does not have the expertise.
“If you are a leader and you want to impose your way all the time, it means you are clueless. He forced us to march in Harare and chant slogans for former President Mugabe and his wife but now that they are history, he should be history too.
“He should go and manage a farm where he can impose his way on animals because we as humans do not tolerate to be trodden on,” said another head.
Efforts to get comment from Dokora were fruitless as his mobile phone was not reachable by the time of going to print.politics

MUTARE – Manicaland provincial magistrate Tendai Mahwa last week remanded Biggie Phiri (36), an employee at Major Family Savings (MFS) Mutare branch who is facing 47 counts of fraud, to November 3 for continuation of trial.
The accused, who resides at House Number 1318, Area 3 in Dangamvura, is being charged with theft as defined in section 113 (2) (d) of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act Chapter 9:23.
Phiri, who is the head of MFS farming section Mutare branch, stands accused of violating the faith entrusted him when he prejudiced customers beginning in February this year.
It is the State’s case that MFS customers would come to pay for day-old chicks and building materials and the accused would receipt them before advising them on the date of collection.
On several occasions, the complainants went to the MFS shop to collect their products but nothing materialised because the accused had converted – to his own personal use – the money that he had received from them.
A total of US$3 329.10 was stolen.

CHIVHU – Benjamin Chida from Mudavanhu village, Chief Neshangwe in Sadza, escaped death by a whisker after he was stabbed on the head by his cousin whom he had tried to discourage from using the back path when passing his homestead, the Chivhu Magistrates Court has heard.
The accused person, Tongesai Maranga stood before Chivhu magistrate Fadzai Mtombeni but denied attempted murder charges arguing that it was a matter of self-defence, claiming the complainant had approached him with a pallet gun.
It is the State’s case, as articulated by Nicholas Mabvongodze, that on July 05 this year at around 18:30 hrs, Maranga passed by Chida’s homestead using the back path, prompting the complainant to ask him why he liked to use the back instead of the front.
The accused, who was holding an axe, did not respond to the complainant but, instead, struck him thrice on the head with the back of the axe and the victim fell unconscious.
After gaining consciousness, the complainant went into his house, took a pallet gun and proceeded to the accused’s house but upon arrival, the accused charged towards him holding an Okapi knife which he used to stab him once on the head.
The complainant’s father rescued him and immediately reported the matter at Sadza Police Station leading to the arrest of the accused.
The case was due to continue in the Chivhu Magistrates Court by the time of going to press with witnesses yet to give their side of the case.local

MWENEZI – A woman from Susupeni village under Chief Neshuro suffered losses after a fellow villager burnt down two houses at her homestead after suspecting that her sister was going out with her husband.
Houses at Enita Shoko’s homestead were burnt allegedly by Zvandinatsa Chitoro who suspected that Shoko’s younger sister was seeing her husband.
Chief Neshuro, born Rodwell Gudo, reluctantly confirmed the case when TellZim News contacted him for comment.
“It’s true there was an incident in Susupeni village where a woman burnt another woman’s homestead. I am not sure about the names of people who were involved, they are known by the village head,” said Chief Neshuro.
Repeated efforts to get a comment from Susupeni village head were fruitless as his mobile phone went unreachable.
However, villagers who witnessed the alleged arson attack said an enraged Chitoro took the bold decision after learning that Shoko’s sister was in love with her husband.
“What surprised many is that Chitoro burnt Shoko’s homestead yet the person who was in love with her husband was Shoko’s younger sister who had just visited.
“She went to Shoko’s homestead in broad daylight, with her husband following helplessly behind after failing to restrain her. She took a burning log and threw it onto the rooftop of a thatched bedroom hut. The fire soon spread to the kitchen hut,” said a witness.
TellZim News also learnt that only a few items were recovered from the blaze after other villager rushed to contain the situation.local

Dictator is gone!

Hehedee-e hurii-ii seka zvako Mapombi of the unknown totem nyika iya zvoyonakidza ndachembera chokwadi. All along Mapombi didn’t know kuti ZBCtv inogona kutombonakidzawo like that – last week was the best. Mapombi didn’t know that the army has best programmers and news presenters like that – wainyatsonzwa kuti Zimbabwe iya yadzoka zvinho seeing presenters clad in army uniforms vakarova serious apa nziyo dzechimurenga dzichitsva.
Now ZBCtv is boring again; in fact it’s now worse than zvayaiva isati yambotorwa neArmy last week because now the crew yekuZBCtv is trying to imitate zvaiitiwa nemasoja. In fact it should seize to be called ZBCtv but kuti itonzi Chinx TV betta because dzangova nziyo dzaChinx non-stop. Zvava kubhowa izvi be creative mhani kukundwa nemasoja, nxaaa bva vadzorerei havozve.
It seems like soldiers excel everywhere. Our roads were clean waingobvunziwa chitupa or license chete not zviye zvemapurisa zvekungonzi chero usina mhosva wotonzi parker apo. Soldiers are the best! Police kungwarira corruption chete unoita seuchaudziwa kuti hauna kupfeka zvakanaka saka bhadhara fine uende. Manje vana mukoma no pressure at all.
Even Commander General Constantino Chiwenga is the real man – he forced the dictator to pack his bags and go kwaZvimba after 37 years of misrule. Nyika yese iri kufara chaiko. I didn’t know kuti Mugabe haachadiwe zvakadaro ini. Even our sisters who prefer to do their business at night (ladies of the night) were giving it for free as part of the wild celebrations that gripped the ancient city following the resigning of Mugabe on Tuesday evening.
I, too, was also tempted to give it for free but I realized kuti hapana ungambondida nemamvemve andinenge ndakapfeka iwaya, and worse I rarely bath because mvura yemurwizi maMucheke haichaita veduwe inhonhuwa kudarika inini.
At least Mugabe is gone, zvinotevera tozozviona but at least one down. Mapombi cant wait to see Marujata kkkkkk ponda musoro. . . kana munhu anetsa varume batai munhu kkkkkkk ende ndokafarira zvekuti kanumber ikaka kakaimbwa naSulumani. Kwakazoitiwa Grace ndokunonzi kutonhodzwa kwaChauruka.
Mapombi knows that what is needed to be changed is the whole Zanu PF system and way of doing business, and that Mugabe’s successor might not be the best for Zimbabwe but for now let us celebrate that Mugabe is gone.
I didn’t know that mudhara hachadiwe like that but ndakazozvionera even kwedu uko kwaDr Grace Mugabe Trading Centre (Chitima market) people were celebrating. Even at Benjamin Burombo offices people were celebrating, even at Central, everywhere kani imi. It was even worse at Chigarapasi beerhall in Chiredzi. Mitengo yana sisi vekubhawa yakadzikiswa kusvika padhora for four kkkkkk kuti nedhora rimwe chete waikwanisa kuwana vari four kkkkkkk. Ndokupembera ka uku.
But there is this argument which has been doing rounds and has even confused the whole world. Was it a coup or what? Vamwe vari kuti yaiva coup vamwe vachiti haisi coup – haa can someone tell me kuti yakaitwa naChiwenga iya inonzi chii?
Please vana mukoma don’t get me wrong im just asking mubvunzo unongobvunziwawo nevazhinji mumastreet umu. I don’t want to end up in Kudzi Chipanga’s situation. Of course I was not forced or coerced to ask this question kuti was that a coup? Kkkkkkkk but more importantly, this question is originally from me.
But hey, if there is someone asingadiwe nepower mwana wamai Farai uyu Dr Paul Chimedza uyu. Just few weeks after being sworn in as Minister of State for Masvingo mhepo ndobva dzatosimuka zvakare. I heard he was arrested in Bubi kuzasi uko.
Anyway, it seems many people, including Mapombi, are so excited about the fall of Mugabe but very few are thinking about life after the nonagenarian. We unanimously agreed that Mugabe overstayed his welcome and should go kwaZvimba now. Mapombi however, is sensing kuti takafita kufarira n’anga neinondobata amai ipapa. Just thinking wo hangu semunhu anofungidzirwa kuti mupengo but I am not.
E-eh please note that Mapombi has not been forced or coerced to write this and would like to apoligise kunana mukoma if this article upset them in any way. Ndiri mwana mudiki chaizvo ndiregerereiwo – and I’m a woman for that matter! But this article is originally from me written here at Chitima market after I ate a bunch of rotten bananas and maputi zvangu.
But tell me something; we hear that it was Mnangagwa and the army who forced Mugabe to stay in 2008 mudhara ati ndadyiwa hangu naMorgan Tsvangirai chiregai ndiende kwaZvimba ndindozorora. Ko havacharambizve here kana vakazvambaradzwa naMorgan 2018? Ndikungobvunzawo hangu.
Anyway, Mapombi also want to give a word of advice to MDC-T kuti dzungu hakusi kungwara zvachose. Musaitiswa mhani. Chinamasa told you kuti this is a Zanu PF affair
It’s almost lunch time now regai ndibve ndakanga zvangu maputi angu for lunch ndizvidyire. But chero ndoona vanhu vasingadiwe nepower haaa zvemwana wamai Farai uyu Dr Chimedza zvakanyanaya.  Ndovaye vakaimbiwa naDr Paul Matavire kuti vaneshavi rine sefa pahuro inoramba tea ichida masese. By the way how is VP Mphoko doing? I heard he sought refuge in Botswana? Kkkkkkk inonzi army iyoyo. Gariswa munototyawo kufa? Mboko imboko!mapombi

Many people gathered to witness the official opening of the new Masivamele Clinic

Siyabonga Sayi

CHIREDZI – The Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) has built a clinic in Chief Masivamele’s area, Ward 8 in Chiredzi East as part of the church’s efforts to spread access to basic health services to the marginalised.
The clinic was built in a very short period of time and has already been handed over to the community.
The project was initiated by the community with assistance from SDA which took up the task and funded the construction of the ward’s only clinic.
Speaking at the official opening of the clinic, Chiredzi East Member of Parliament Denford Masiya applauded the church for the work which he said was the best health services development to happen in the constituency in recent times.
“The SDA church involved me when they began here and today they have invited me to this occasion now that the structure is finished. I want to thank them for the great work they have done in Chiredzi East especially in Ward 8 where there are enormous health services delivery challenges,” said Masiya.
He also said it was the duty of churches to support government programmes especially in health and education, as the SDA was doing.
SDA Central Zimbabwe Conference president Pastor Jothamu Manyakara applauded the Chiredzi Rural district Council for expediting arrangements for the project.
“I am humbled by the cooperation of this community’s leadership, both the council and traditional leaders, they were very much cooperative and worked smoothly with us.
“I also want to say that this structure was made possible through the maximum involvement of SDA church members in the whole conference. It is through their financial and material contributions that this project is a success,” said Manyakara.
He said the church intended to drill a borehole at the clinic in the coming days.
“We are constructing a state of the art boarding school very close to this place, with two blocks already finished. If we did manage to build this clinic, by the grace of God we will complete the boarding school,” said Manyakara.local

Mutare City Rovers back in PSL

MUTARE – City Rovers’ unstoppable march in the Eastern Region Division 1 has paid off with a four nil win over bitter rivals Buffaloes FC over the weekend.
The win saw them bouncing back into the Premier Soccer League (PSL) with one more game to spare.
Kennedy Kachara’s men came in for the game looking for nothing except a draw but second half goals from Hibron Makukutu, Stephen Sibanda, Evans Chikwaikwai and Hussein Zvakavapano were enough for the Gusha Boys to clinch a ticket to the PSL.
Mutare City Rovers were relegated at the end of last season but they have now earned the right to march back to premier football alongside the likes of Central Region winners Nichrut FC, Bulawayo Chiefs from the Southern Region and Northern Region champions Herentials FC.
Speaking after the game, Kachara could not hide his joy, acknowledging that his team’s success were a result of ceaseless hard work on the part of players, supporters and the technical department.
“I am really happy today because we managed to fulfill our mission. It was not an easy task but the boys remained focused. We thank our fans who were with us from the beginning and we also thank City of Mutare for making this a dream come true,” said Kachara.
Buffaloes FC coach Shadreck Mugurasawu congratulated Mutare FC for the win and said his own team was already preparing for the next season.
“I would like to congratulate Mutare for being the champions of the day. They were a better side and they deserved to win. As a team, we are now going back to the drawing board to prepare for the next season,” said Mugurasawu.sport
