MASVINGO – Pamushana and Gokomere high schools continue to exhibit their academic prowess in Masvingo province, collecting most of the prizes at the provincial Merit Awards held last week at Victoria primary school.
The two schools proved their mettle in the boarding and urban category because of the remarkable results they produced in the year 2015.
Pamushana proved to be the best when they produced an enormous 201 As in Integrated Science while Zimuto High School produced 143 As in history.
In other categories like day and satellite school, different other schools collected the awards with no one school dominating the others.
Pamushana and Gokomere’s performance were rewarded handsomely with both schools walking away with many prizes including HP printers from Byword.
The Provincial Education Director (PED) for Masvingo Zedius Chitiga commended the hard work shown by the teachers in the province both in academic and non-academic fields.
“The hard work that is being shown by the teachers in our province is quite encouraging and we call for more from them as we strive to maintain our standards. We want to reach for the moon, and from the moon to the stars,” said Chitiga.
The province came out tops in the Zimsec 2015 Ordinary Level results category, with team Masvingo taking first position at the 2016 youth games.
This year’s ceremony was running under the theme “Curriculum Adaptation: Key to Sustainable Socio-economic Transformation of our Schools and Communities’.
