Reformed Church in Zimbabwe (RCZ) in conjunction with Nyaningwe is today holding a soccer tournament at Mucheke Stadium.
The tournament has attracted 16 teams from all the country’s ten provinces and two teams from the church’s South African branch.
One of the tournament organizers David Masomere said all is set for the religion soccer jamboree and all teams were geared for the $10 000 prized tournament.
The tournament will be graced by Reformed Church University Professor Wiseman Magwa , PSL coaches that include Shabanie Mine mentor, Luke Masomere,Hippo Valley gaffer Moses Chunga among others.
The team that which wins the finals will walk away $2000 richer with a floating trophy and golden medals. The second and third runner up will win $100 and $400 respectively with silver and bronze medals.
They will also be some prizes for player of the tournament and goal keeper of the tournament as well as rocky and golden boot awards.
“The games are meant to spread the gospel through sport. It is sport evangelism and that is our main desire. We would want to lure those who have backslided on the basis of lack of recreation in the church,” he said.
David thanked the sponsors of the tournament and appealed to the corporate world to support sport in churches.
“On behalf of the church, I would want to thank Nyaningwe for sponsoring this tournament. We urge other companies to follow suit,” he said.
