Silobela- A 38-year-old woman from Mbenge village, Chief Malisa in Silobela died after being stabbed by her former husband.
The incident occurred on April 18, 2022 at about 8pm at Mbenge tuckshops in Silobela.
It is alleged that the now deceased Elina Zimba was previously married to the suspect, Kundai Khumalo (36) years from the same village.
The two met at Mbenge tuckshops to discuss the custody of their seven year-old daughter who was staying with the mother.
A misunderstanding arose between the two and Khumalo dragged the now deceased out of the shop and stabbed her three times with a knife.
Zimba collapsed and people who were at the tuckshops fled in fear of the suspect who was threatening to stab everyone.
The suspect then fled the scene and Zimba died on the spot. The body was taken to Kwekwe General Hospital mortuary for post mortem.
Midlands provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko appealed to the public regarding the whereabouts of the suspect.
“May members of the public who might have information about the whereabouts of Kundai Khumalo inform any nearest police station or police officers they see in their areas,” he said.
Meanwhile in a related incident, Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirms investigating two cases of murder following the death of two men aged 22 and 23 years.
The incident occurred on April 18, 2022 at about 1700 hours at Dzire Business Centre in Gokwe after the duo was attacked by a mob.
Circumstances given reveal that, the now deceased Pardon Muchaitei and Edmore Murindiwa who were drunk were spectators at a sports field. The two allegedly became violent and started attacking fellow spectators.
Pardon Muchaitei stabbed Stanford Sibanda (24) of Karigwe village under Chief Nemangwe in Gokwe with an okapi knife once on the back and handed over the knife to Edmore Murindiwa.
Murindiwa stabbed five men namely Cephas Ncube (52) Vengesai Mazhinduka (48), Titus Sibanda (70), Jabulani Kufa (18) and Sylvester (22) all from Chief Nemangwe in Gokwe. A mob of other spectators then gathered against the two, and retaliated, overpowering them in the process.
The matter was reported to the police who attended the scene.
Police found Pardon Muchaitei and Edmore Murindiwa lying in a pool of blood with multiple injuries while the mob had already dispersed. They were ferried to Gokwe Hospital for treatment, and Edmore Murindiwa was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
Pardon Muchaitei then passed on later the same day while in admission. The other injured people were ferried to Gokwe Hospital where they are currently admitted. Bodies of the two deceased were at Gokwe South District Hospital Mortuary awaiting post mortem.
Midlands provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko urged members of the public to drink responsibly.
“We appeal to members who drink beer that they should not over drink the wise waters to the point of losing sense and failing to control themselves,” he said.
