Sanctions Mutendi, Mutendi High Head

…Mutendi High School aims another 100 percent pass rate

TellZim Reporter

Tucked deep in the lush greens surrounding Mbungo Estate,  on the red soils of the spacious savanna terrain off the Masvingo – Mutare highway, Bishop Nehemiah Mutendi’s Mutendi High School has yet again proved why it is one of the most sought after mission boarding schools in the country.
The school is famed not only for its outstanding performance on the academic front, but for its strict adherence to Christian discipline too, as guided by the Zion Christian Church (ZCC) doctrine and as taught by the late Reverend Samuel Mutendi, who is the founder of the church.
That firm observance of decency has led to remarkable academic achievements for the school, and has molded a pupil of intellectual excellence and of strong moral grounding.
In June 2017, a total of 20 students sat for their ‘A’ level exams in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, accounting and business studies – and all of them passed with flying colours with some 6 As and 10 Bs being recorded.
A total of 10 students, four of them being female, sat for maths, physics and chemistry; the difficult STEM subjects that are dreaded by many.
Most remarkable is the story of Mitchel Garise, a partially visually-impaired pupil who sat for accounts, geography and business studies and obtained 13 points (2 As and a C).
In other areas, Mutendi High School is making enormous progress to develop its facilities, with a well-designed two-storey new girls hostel nearing completion.
A massive paving project of the school which started a few years ago has also transformed the surroundings to a more refreshing look.
In extra curricula activities, the school continues to register momentum in such sporting disciplines as football, netball and baseball. The school’s under 16 baseball boys and under 20/under16 girls softball teams qualified for the national competitions that are being held on October 4 – 7 in Harare and Kadoma.
The famous Mutendi brass band also captivated crowds at the National Annual Science, Sport and Arts Festival (NASSAF) games held at the National Sports Stadium last week.education
