ZVISHAVANE – Five Movement for Democratic Change led by Morgan tsvangirai (MDC-T) youth league officials were arrested for allegedly insulting President Robert Mugabe in Zvishavane last week.
The five Midlands province youth officials Trynos Shava (Secretary for Defense), Enock Msindo (Deputy  Secretary), Peter Hove (District Secretary), Ruizhi Shoko (National Exercutive member youth assembly), and  one Sibanda(District Deputy Organiser), were arrested for allegedly singing a song insulting the President.
The song with the lyrics ‘hatitongwe nemunhu anopfeka mapumpers’ (we cannot be ruled by someone in pumpers) was viewed as targeting Mugabe (92) who has failed to improve the economy.
MDC-T Midlands Secretary for Information, Munyaradzi Mutandavari confirmed the arrest saying the five were detained at Zvishavane Police Station.
“They have been arrested for singing, they are so desperate to silence everyone from expressing that Mugabe has failed. This must stop,” said Mutandavari.
The accused are set to appear before Zvishavane Magistrate Court facing charges of undermining the President.news
