ZVISHAVANE – The Midlands province is preparing to hold its first ever provincial traditional dance festival on December 10, 2016 at Siboza Business Centre.
Zvishavane-Runde constituency legislator, Fred Moyo is expected to be the guest of honour.
The programme is aimed at promoting arts, culture and heritage from grassroots level as well as to conscientice the youths about the Zimbabwean culture, especially in rural areas.
Zimbabwe National Traditional Dancers Association (ZNTDA) president Kennedy Kachuruka said rural people are eager to preserve local value.
“I was very happy when I heard of this event and I have come here to see the developments on the ground with regards to the event,” Kachuruka said.
Assistant District Administrator Nyasha Chiwanga said the ceremony will be a big event which will incorporate cultural artefacts like craftwork.
“We want to treat this festival as a national event that is meant to give a platform for every Zimbabwean citizen to showcase their cultural practices,” said Chiwanga.
The organisers are pleading with well-wishers and the donor community to support of the programme.news
