Masvingo Polytechnic holds 24th graduation

MASVINGO – Masvingo polytechnic held its 24th graduation last week on Thursday where more than 500 students from the institution received their certificates and diplomas.
Students who did four year courses were given diplomas, High National Diplomas (H.N.D) was given to those who went through two year Programmes while certificates were given to those who went through one year courses.
Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development, Professor Jonathan Moyo, who was the guest of honour, expressed his willingness to keep attending graduation ceremonies like these.
“I am not sacrificing my time to be here, it’s my duty to be here. Witnessing the 24th graduation in Masvingo today is something very crucial in Zimbabwe education,” he told over 3 000 people who turned up for the event.
Professor Moyo also said his ministry is looking forward to implement measures which will see polytechnics in the country offering degree programmes.
“In line with the ZIMASSET policy which was introduced by President Robert Mugabe, the ministry of higher and tertiary education will try by all means to improve education in the country. Degrees will be soon introduced to polytechnics to foster the policy,” he said after it was made clear that some lecturers from National University of Science and Technology (NUST) will soon land at Masvingo polytechnic as part time lecturers.
Awards were given to best students from different programs with Professor Moyo capping all the graduates who went home in jovial moods.news
