Armed robbers pounce on Masvingo Fashion Shop

A gang of three armed robbers on September 15 at around 0135 hours pounced on a fashion shop in Masvingo Central Business District (CBD) and got away with goods worth US$ 5 015 including clothing items and a cellphone.
Masvingo Provincial Police Spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the incident and said that the gang is still at large.
It is reported that on the mentioned date, 36 year-old Leon Matsika, a security personnel was at work at Royal Fabulous Fashion Shop when he saw a silver Honda Fit with three occupants parking at his workplace.
One of the passengers came out of the car carrying a gun and asked him to raise his hands and lie on the ground before searching him and seizing his Huawei cellphone.
The rest of the passengers came out of the car with one of them holding a metal bar which he used to smash open one shop window.
After gaining entry through the smashed window, the robbers took various clothing items from the shop.
The Safeguard Response team arrived at the scene after a security alert.
The gang fled the scene after the arrival of the Safeguard Response team after which they were chased but to no avail.
A report was made to the police and investigations are underway.
