Premier Soccer League (PSL) newsboys Green Fuel have started preparations for the upcoming 2023 soccer season as the debutants anticipate for the dances with football big boys.
The Chisumbanje-based outfit’s gaffer Lloyd ‘Samaita’ Mutasa confirmed the development and said they are currently working with the crop of players that drove the team’s whole season unbeaten run.
“Yes, we have started preparations for the upcoming season as the team gears for the new challenge. We are training with the crop of players we had in Eastern Region Division 1 league and got us promoted.
“However, as a team we would be prepared for any occurrence that is as far as players are concerned in the sense that we may lose our players who I believe are targeted by other teams. On our part as a team, we are also prepared to act and there is possibility that we would target players from other teams as well,” said Mutasa.
He went on to stress that the team is looking forward to start the premiership journey with a stronger team that would give the big guns a run for their money once the season kicks off.
“As I have earlier said, we may lose players but our solution to that would be assessing available options focusing mainly on incoming players so that we present a much stronger squad to cope with demands of the league.
“We need to assess the players we have, compare them with those who intend to join us after which we would recommend them to the responsible authorities so that they can make decisions,” he added.
Green Fuel went on a fairy-tale in the Eastern Region in 2022 as they got promoted into the premiership unbeaten and the task in waiting is for them to prove their worth among the elite.
