The old adage ‘Catch them young’ comes to mind when one hears about five-year old Dillish Masango of Victoria Junior primary school who recently led her peers in fight against cholera through a clean-up exercise at her school.
Masango, who is the reigning Little Miss Toto Africa Zimbabwe led at least 150 learners from Victoria Primary School’s ECD, Grade 4 and drum majorettes team in a cleanup campaign at Old Croco Motors near the school.
In her speech Masango urged people to clean up their surrounding environment as they fight against cholera.
“We have cried enough because of cholera, we don’t tolerate it anymore, today I say clean up my beautiful Zimbabwe, I say let us keep our environment clean, do not eat uncovered food, wash your hands after visiting the toilet, my environment my pride,” said the little Masango.
Victoria Primary School Teacher in Charge Tracy Marecha said the institution was supporting the vision of the President as well as helping the young model to bring positive impact to the community which serves.
“As a school we are here to support the vision of the President on clean cities while we also support our Little Miss Toto Africa Zimbabwe in serving the community she comes from by spearheading projects that bring positive impact to the society,” said Marecha.
The clean-up exercise was attended by officials from the Ministry of Health and Child Care, Environmental Management Agency (EMA) as well Grade 4 pupils, ECD B pupils and teachers from the institution including school head Mashuro.
Masango who is also the reigning Masvingo Queen of Primary schools will head to Nigeria in 2024 where she will represent Zimbabwe at the Little Mr and Mrs Toto Africa beauty contest.
