Police issues prohibition notice for offensive weapons

MASVINGO – Chief Superintendent Percy Sidija Ndou recently issued a prohibition notice with regards to the possession of offensive weapons in public.
The prohibition runs for three months, from June 07 – September 07, 2018.
In his statement, the Chief Supt Ndou said he was invoking the order for ZRP Masvingo District that incorporates Masvingo Rural, Central, Chikato, Rujeko, Renco and Muchakata policing areas in terms of Section 14 of the Public Order and Security Act (POSA).
“We invoked Section 14 of The Public Order And Security Act Chapter 11:17 and the provisions contained therein with effect from the 07th day of June 2018 to the 07th of day September 2018 and declared that; no person shall carry or display in a public place, whether openly or by concealment in a pubic,” Chief Supt Ndou said.
He further stated that weapons such as catapults, machetes, axes, swords, knives, knobkerries, daggers or any traditional weapons are not allowed for the period in question, adding that any person found in possession of such weapons shall be guilt of an offence.local, crime
