The time has come again for golf lovers to enjoy some 18 holes at Masvingo Sports Club courtesy of the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) Masvingo province.
This year’s event, as are all others, is held in support of the ZPCS Commissioner General Goodwill Trust Fund.
It promises to be a full field this Saturday with players from the province and beyond having already booked their places.
ZPCS Masvingo Provincial Deputy Commander, Assistant Commissioner Nesai Hlabano said work was being done to ensure that the event is more successful than last year.
“We are inspired by the work done last year and our target is to organise a better tournament to show that ZPCS Masvingo province is well-organised. We are in full support of our Commissioner General’s efforts to improve conditions of the less privileged members of our society,” said Ass Com Hlabano.
Last year’s tournament attracted a full field and was graced by the Commissioner General, Rtd Maj Paradzai Zimondi and his deputy, MCN Moses Chiobvu.
The two dignitaries are expected to be present at this year’s event with other reputable people having already indicated their availability to support the charity-driven tournament.
The Prison Dance Band will be there to provide live entertainment.
Formed in 2011, the Commissioner General Goodwill Trust Fund raises thousands of dollars annually from across all the provinces of the ZPCS in the country.
All proceeds, be it cash or kind, are forwarded to identified charitable cases largely within the ZPCS community.
The fund has so far paid school fees for hundreds of orphans and has assisted many widows with agricultural inputs.
Several child-headed families have been given food hampers courtesy of the fund while the Albino Association has also received donations in the form of sunscreen lotions.sport
