GWERU – Giant abrasives manufacturer Caridorn Abrasives (Pvt) Ltd is set to resume operations and create many jobs, TellZim News has learnt.
Speaking at the familiarisation tour of the company last week, the Minister of State for Midlands Provincial Affairs, Owen Ncube said many investors had shown interest in resuscitating the abrasive and refractory supplier.
“Our expectation is that you reopen as soon as possible since we have many investors who want to come and do business in our wonderful and peaceful province of Midlands,” said Ncube.
He further said his office had submitted recommendations to the Minister of Industry and Commerce to seek the revival of the company.
“My office’s submission to the minister of industry and commerce recommending the revival of this company should very soon bring investors once they have been identified.
“It is also government’s expectation that when you resume operations, you employ more than you retrenched,” Ncube said.
Caridorn Abrasives is the only company that manufactured abrasives like sandpaper before it shut down due to liquidity problems.
Its products were critical for the country’s mining industry.business
