Robbers pounce on Murambi family

MUTARE – Police in Manicaland are investigating a case in which two armed assailants tied and robbed a family in Murambi suburbs before vanishing with US$3 060 and an IPhone 6 last week.
Manicaland provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Luxon Chananda confirmed the incident and appealed to members of the public with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects to report at any police station.
“A house in Murambi was robbed and the suspects are still on the run. We are still investigating and we appeal to members of the public with information that may assist in this case to report to any nearest police station,” Ass Insp Chananda said.
Circumstances surrounding the case are that on October 16, Abdoula Diaby (47) and his gardener Blessing Zaranhamo left home in the evening to fetch water at a public tape in Murambi and left Bruno Elongo watching television.
Two unknown male adults wearing masks and armed with a pistol entered the house and ordered Elongo to lie down before demanding cash and they were give US$60.
Diaby and Zaranhamo then returned and were also ordered to lie down upon entering the house.
They were tied with shoe laces and the attackers demanded money, forcing Diaby to give them US$3000 and IPhone 6.
The attackers then ran away and the matter was later reported to the police.
