NetOne to improve network coverage in Chiredzi South

CHIREDZI – The country’s second largest mobile telecommunications services provider by subscriber base, NetOne has mapped two sites in Chiredzi South to construct 70 kilometre network radius boosters to improve connectivity in the Sengwe community.
Addressing hundreds of people who were gathered at Makhanani Primary School recently, NetOne acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Brian Mutandiro said the company planned to construct two network boosters in the near future.
“We are going to construct two network boosters in partnership with Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF). The first booster will be built near Headman Gezani’s homestead and the other one will be constructed near Chief Sengwe’s homestead.
“These two boosters are going to cover a distance of 70 kilometres and you will be able to send money through our new programme called OneMoney which follows One Fusion,” said Mutandiro.
In a side interview, Mutandiro said the technical team has already made a survey and identified two suitable sites.
“Our technical team came and made a survey and recommended two of the places we visited. We are at a stage of resource-mobilisation which is equivalent to constructing what we call passive infrastructure and we will then move to active infrastructure; the antennas that transmits waves. So this process is now at an advanced stage.
“We just need two to three months to complete the work,” said Mutandiro.
Rural areas especially to the South of Chiredzi are some of the most poorly serviced areas, with both road and communication infrastructure lacking requisite attention.business
