MWENEZI – President of the National Council of Chiefs, Chief Fortune Charumbira last Saturday told people gathered at Rutenga growth point for the unveiling of Mwenezi East Zanu PF legislator Joosbi Omar’s five-year strategic plan that he will campaign for Omar in the 2018 elections.
Charumbira, who attended the event on behalf of Speaker of Parliament Advocate Jacob Mudenda, showered Omar with praises and pledged his support come next year.
“Chero ndiri mambo ndichadzoka kuno kuMwenezi ndoita campaign for Omar musarudzo dzirikuuya…muzukuru wangu uyu (Though I am a chief, I will come back in Mwenezi to campaign for Omar …he is my nephew,” said Charumbira.
On his part, Omar who preached development, took a swipe at Zimbabwe Bio Energy (ZBE) game ranch owner, Billy Rautenbach for allegedly engaging in exploitative tactics of hiring workers and arbitrarily firing them after a few months before they can sign their contracts.
“Ndinorwadziwa kunzwa kuti kuna Billy asingadi kubhadhahara vashandi. Mushandi anoita two years no salary….what form of investment yaarikuita achiita zvakadero (I am pained to receive reports that Billy is not willing to pay his workers. His workers are going for as long as two years without any salary…what form of investment is that,” fumed Omar.
Also in attendance was the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Dr Lazarus Dokora who lamented what he called a concerted social media campaign to deride him.
He however said the implementation of the new curriculum was inevitable.
“Vamwe vanondituka pasocial media hanziii heee mazindebvu uya watanga…aaah ndebvu kubasa. The criticism is strengthening us because almost everyone is closely looking at developments that are happening in the education sector.
“Let’s embrace the system of Ubuntu in our education sector. Despite the criticism, the implementation of the new curriculum is unstoppable,” said Dr Dokora.politics
