MASVINGO
– Charles Austin Theatre will host the Annual Invitation One-Act Play Festival, a rotational amateur festival which was last year held at the Campbell Theatre in Kadoma.
The 29th Edition of the Festival, which will run from September 1 – 2, has always been a platform for theatre clubs from all over the country to converge at a central theatre house and prove their worth.
This year, Harare’s Reps Theatre, Kadoma’s Campbell Theatre, Midlands State University (MSU) and Charles Austin Theatre will be taking part in this grand event.
Each day will feature a programme of one to four one-act play production presented in competition.
Reflecting the diversity written into the mission of its presenter, the One-Act Play Festival features plays that varies in length and deals with wide array of topics, from stories of human connection and comedic takes on love.
“I’m very happy that this festival is able to offer so many playwrights and actors an opportunity to showcase their work,” said Khetani Banda, Artistic Director of the Charles Austin theatre.
“The competition makes it an exciting event for the audiences, but at the end of the day all of our participants are winners as they use this event as an opportunity to network and develop future artistic collaborations,” Banda added.
A single adjudicator will preside over the two-day competition where nine awards will be up for grabs. Tickets will be going for $2.entertainment
