Prof Magwa inspects progress at the main campus

TellZim Reporter

MASVINGO – The Reformed Church University (RCU) will be relocating to its new Main Campus located about 10 km from Masvingo city centre along Bulawayo highway by the end of this year, TellZim News can reveal.
The ‘Plaza Campus’, which is at its final stages of construction, will be RCU’s permanent Main Campus once all the necessary work has been done.
By the time of writing, four lecture room blocks and the administration block were almost complete with electrical tubing work being done.
RCU Vice Chancellor Professor Wiseman Magwa said they were working on phase one of the Plaza Campus so that the first batch of students from Faculty of Commerce, can be transferred from Morgenster Teachers College where they are accommodated.
He said procurement of all equipment needed to do final touches has been done and they were just awaiting delivery.
“We have invested enough resources to make sure that we have quality structures that can stand the test of time.
“All equipment needed to complete these structures like ceilings and floor tiles has already been bought and we are just awaiting their delivery. These lecture rooms will also give students capacity to fully utilise their Information Communication Technologies (ICTs) since these cannot be ignored in modern day learning,” Professor Magwa said.
He said the university will fully utilise all the land they were given for educational purposes.
Prof Magwa also highlighted the future of the institution as bright, with the university now regarded as the most promising in Zimbabwe.
“No piece of land will be left unused. All land will be used to enhance education. We have already identified a piece of land we wish to use for farming. Our vision is that, if the land is fully utilised, we will be able to bring in more programmes even at post graduate level.
We are happy with how the future is shaping up as client confidence in our brand can clearly be seen. People now want to be associated with our brand,” Professor Magwa added.local, education, topnews
