Gwatidzo, a Harare-based trainee mechanic, says as the times change, more women need to learn the little things that keep their cars moving.
Servicing a vehicle in good time, Gwatidzo says, and in accordance to recommended garage mileage is the best way. She says vehicle servicing involves more than just changing the oil and oil filter.
“It’s an opportunity for a good mechanic to look at a lot of other things on your car that include wheel balancing as well as wear and tear of some moving parts,” Gwatidzo says.
“Working with the guys motivates me a lot because we work as a team. They help me in certain areas and I assist them too. I learn from them and they learn from me. There is no easy job because every job has its own challenges and all challenges have solutions,” she says, adding that she has no problem being the only female among her workmates.
