25 Jan 2017 – GWERU – Elizabeth Phiri, who scooped the Midlands SME of the Week award recently, has challenged other women to use their hands to earn a living.
A single mother who holds a certificate in hair dressing, Phiri says she is satisfied by the income she makes out of her hard work as she is able to cater for her three children.
She told TellZim News she was naturally talented in hairdressing, a factor which made her pursue the work soon after finishing secondary school.
Currently, Phiri is a specialist hair dresser who participated in the Outre Beauty Style hairdressing competition at Midlands Hotel where she excelled.
She said women should take the initiative and make their own money so that they don’t rely on men for their needs.
“The problem with many women out there is that they rely on men for everything they need to survive and they don’t look for ways to help their husbands put food on the table. Under those circumstances, women can never be independent,” said Phiri.
Phiri said she has strong passion in imparting wisdom and knowledge to women who want to venture into hairdressing.news
