Gweru – A man from Woodlands Park was dragged before Gweru magistrate Musaiona Shortgame for unlawful entry and theft and was slapped with an effective 15 months imprisonment.
Edgar Mangwa (29) was charged for unlawful entry into premises as defined in section 131 of the Criminal Law Codification And Reform Act chapter 9:23 and theft as defined in section 113(a)(b) of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act chapter 9:23.
It was the State’s case that on September 13, 2016 at around 1630 hours, Mangwa went to his brother in-law’s house and forced open the door using a screw driver then entered into the house where he took US$70 in cash that was under the blanket.
The complainant’s neighbours, Spiwe Mashini and Simbisai Pfunye testified that they had seen Mangwa coming out of his house holding a screw driver in the hand and a police report was made leading to Mangwa’s arrest.
