CHIPINGE: Money rituals is a thing of the past one would argue, as people now opt for more conventional means of creating wealth other than the use of juju and spilling of innocent blood.
However, it was a sight of disbelief and disappointment that many will not be able to forget for quite some time as one Dhau Masunungure of Musirizwi village in Chipinge (who answers to the name Rasta in the money changing circles in Chipinge CBD) was reportedly caught naked together with wife and 3 year-old son on September 10, 2022 at Damba shops in Musirizwi performing acts believed to be linked to ritualism.
In an audio that has gone viral on social media, Masunungure’s together with wife intended to slaughter their own son for rituals as the toddler was found lying naked on a red and black ritual ceremonial cloth next to a wooden plate and a knife.
Felistas Mtisi who stays near the shops said their attention was drawn by the commotion at the shopping centre which prompted them into reacting.
“When I heard the commotion at the shops, I had to find out what was going on. Indeed it was a sight of disbelief; I could not even look twice at them. I found all three of them completely naked after being stuck at that same position since midnight,” said Mtisi.
Tecksure Simango a barber at Damba shops narrated his version of the unusual act saying the business community is still reeling from shocks of the attempted ‘sacrifice.
“It was indeed a sight of disbelief for many around the area as we never suspected that such a thing could actually be happening in our community.
“Indeed they were going to slaughter the young boy because down here a wooden plate and the specific type of cloth they had placed the child on ‘jira rema ndlozi’ is associated with such rituals as you normally see such items at ancestral appeasing ceremonies,” said Simango.
Masunungure is believed to have commenced his ritual ceremony around 12 midnight moving around the shops at Damba.
It is believed that after such a ritual had been completed, the money that the shops will be making will somehow mysteriously come to him.
Unfortunately Masunungure’s ritual procession was brought to a standstill as he came in contact with one of the shops which had been rigged to prevent burglaries by the owner also suspected to be a master in the black magic arena.
It was only until in the morning when the owner of the shop arrived at his shop and notified scores of people of the bizarre occurrence, that Masunungure was finally released from the captive and the matter taken to the Chief’s court.
Chipinge’s reputation in the discussions of black magic remains static on people’s tongues as many still flock the area to seek some form of traditional assistance to get riches.
However, most argue that the death of the famous traditional healer Ndunge was also the death of black magic in Chipinge.
At the time of writing the matter was still pending a decision from the Chief Mapungwana’s court.
