ZVISHAVANE – The youth expo which is to be held on October 27 at the Kandodo Hall has seen the Zvishavane Youth Centre (ZYC) working closely with more young people so as to produce quality products that will be showcased at the event.
ZYC facilitator Clifford Mugiya said his organisation wanted to exhibit the best of what the youth in the district can produce.
“The youth expo is a day when the talent of our young people will be on show for all to see. The day will be very important since the youth will discover themselves, with parents discovering their children,” said Mugiya.
He said ZYC was expanding its operations in the community by creating art clubs in different schools in the district.
“As the one and only organisation which believes in talent scouting and youth development in the district, ZYC is growing bigger each day and we have 76 students from different schools in the district and 30 youths from the community who have joined our art clubs.
“ZYC gallery is a resource centre for history, heritage and religious studies. Youths come and practice playing marimba, mbira, writing and reciting poems and speeches on different subjects. It should be noted that the environment is our main theme from where we draw inspiration so we want to conserve it,” said Mugiya
On the same note, ZYC coordinator Bigboy Murenga said the centre was working with the Midlands State University (MSU) Department of Arts and Theatre in preparation for the day.
He said the high number of young people in their art clubs showed that the community had come to understand the mission of ZYC.local

CHIVHU – As the nation braces for a general election next year, Chief Mutekedza has told traditional leaders not to dabble into politics and avoid being used to further the interests of any political party.
He was speaking at a meeting which he organised with his people, with the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) and Forestry Commission being present as invited guests.
The outspoken traditional leader, born Andrew Zhakata, lambasted traditional leaders who affiliate themselves with political parties.
He referenced Section 280 and 281 of the Constitution that clearly state that traditional leaders must not be involved in politics.
“Constitution yedu yemuno munyika yeZimbabwe isu matraditional leaders hatitenderwe nemutemo kuti tive nedivi ratakarerekera munyaya dzemapato, kuita izvozvo kukanganisa zvikuru. Hamufanire kuve nezvinzvimbo muma party kuva secretary, committee member or any,” said Chief Mutekedza.
He urged people in his area to affiliate to political parties of their choices without the influence of traditional leaders.
The chief criticised Members of Parliaments, councillors and ministers for putting themselves above those who put them into office instead of being true servants of the electorate.
He said only traditional leaders remained committed to the service of the people, not the public officials who get their positions through electoral means.
Chief Mutekedza reiterated the need for a crime-free community, urging traditional leaders to help keep peace by not interfering in political matters and respecting the people’s right to choose.
Most traditional leaders in the country are fully identified with the ruling Zanu PF party to which they gravitate in their efforts to keep their perks and privileges.local

WARP Summit Seeks Solution
to the Global Peace in Education

“Peace Education Development Forum for Spreading a Culture of Peace” at the 3rd Annual Commemoration of the WARP Summit was held in Seoul, Republic of Korea

With the idea that a world of peace without conflicts and wars should start from classrooms, experts in education from the world discussed development of peace education on the first day of the 3rd Annual Commemoration of the World Alliance Religions’ Peace (WARP) Summit on September 17 by Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) under the UN ECOSOC.
As a part of “establishing collaborative governance for development and implementation of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) drafted by HWPL in 2016 to advocate international cooperation with participation of civil society in peacebuilding efforts, the forum with education specialists as participants diagnosed the current issues of education in countries and discussed introduction and application of peace education inspired by HWPL.
Chairman Man Hee Lee of HWPL emphasized comprehensive application of peace education by saying, “We need peace education specifically for today. We ourselves should be the reality of peace education. Without the spirit of peace in himself, how can he possibly educate peace to students? To do this, peace education must start from family, so that the family becomes peaceful with the spirit of peace.”
Regarding the purpose and importance of peace education, “What role does education have in the diffusion of the culture of peace?” We are contributing in the promotion of the culture of peace in the world. We would help the citizens of tomorrow be more tolerant of each other and that a dialogue or discussion is the way to accept their differences and solve their conflicts,” emphasized Hon. Maria Eugenia Barrios Robles de Mejía, Vice Minister of Ministry of Education in Guatemala.
Participants discussed ways to enhance communication and network for inventing methodology and curriculum of peace education for future generations and to raise awareness of the need for teachers’ understanding the value of peace with detailed educational contents. “When we as teachers take up the responsibility to speak to our students, and be the necessary role models concerning how we speak, relationships and the adherence to order within society, we will start seeing the results in our students.” said Nancy Roussopoulos, Former Principal of Camps Bay Preparatory School in Cape Town.
Prof. Juan Carlos Torres at Don Bosco University shared his teaching experience of peace education by saying  “When I applied the focus of ‘conflict resolution’ value of HWPL, with children 5-9 years old (considered problem children for the college), the result was surprising. The change in attitude in their faces and joy was drawn on the paper like in this image. This education will change and form these values within their hearts as a permanent change.”

As an action plan to develop peace education discussed at the high-level meeting with education specialists last year at the summit, HWPL has established HWPL Peace Academies with 127 education institutions in 9 countries including India, Israel, Kosovo, and the Philippines.local

MASVINGO – Two Masvingo Urban Councillors; Garcia Mundondo of Ward 1 and Lovemore Mufamba of Ward 10 as well as deputy city engineer Edward Mukaratirwa and deputy city treasurer Danster Jori last Friday graduated from the Great Zimbabwe University (GZU) with different qualifications.
Mundondo attained an upper second class honours degree in Peace, Conflict and Governance while Mufamba, who did his work related learning (attachment) with Tell Zimbabwe in 2015, also obtained an upper second class Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Media and Cultural Studies.
Both the councillors said they were happy to lead by example and they encouraged others to further their education so that they can improve their leadership skills.
Mukaratirwa graduated with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and Finance while Jori graduated with a Master’s Degree in Applied Accounting.
Speaking to TellZim News, Mufamba said public leaders must always work to improve themselves academically for the sake of service delivery.
“I am happy with my achievement and I congratulate my colleagues in council who also graduated. It was a difficult yet fruitful four-year period that gave me this degree. I won’t stop here as I am already looking at enrolling for a Master’s programme. I encourage others to do the same so that we will be in a position to better understand issues to do with service delivery,” said Mufamba.
The Minister of Local Government Public Works and National Housing, Savior Kasukuwere recently warned that government was working to set minimum academic qualifications for prospective councillors.
He blamed the current rot in local authorities on uneducated councillors who do not understand anything about their work.education

Seven TellZim News journalists graduate

…two with first class degrees
…news editor wins six awards

TellZim News Reporter

The fastest growing privately-owned community newspaper in the country, TellZim News last week Friday made history at the Great Zimbabwe University (GZU)’s 11th graduation ceremony when a total of seven of its staff members graduated each with an honours degree mainly in Media and Cultural Studies.
The development places TellZim News at the apex as a community newspaper with the most educated staff in the country and it also makes it one of the newspapers with the highest number of degreed journalists across the board.
Most outstanding was news editor Moses Ziyambi who won a whopping six awards for his efforts which included being the best Media and Cultural Studies student as well as being second best student for the whole Simon Muzenda School of Arts and Heritage Studies.
The accolades were the Vice Chancellor’s Award, the University Book Prize, FMS Global Solutions shield, Jadecon Construction and Engineering prize for being second best student for the whole Simon Muzenda School of Culture and Heritage Studies which houses five departments, the Zimbabwe Media Commission (ZMC) prize for being the best Media and Cultural Studies Student and the Moonlight Funeral Services prize for obtaining a first class degree.
Beatific Gumbwanda, who writes from Chiredzi and Chipinge districts, also obtained a first class degree and was awarded the University Book Prize for his remarkable exploits.
Other TellZim News staff members who graduated are Upenyu Chaota; who reports from Masvingo, Itai Muzondo; who reports from Gweru, Siyabonga Sayi; who also reports from Gweru and Lloyd Shunje who reports from Mutare.
Company accountant Marylin Katenjele graduated with an upper second class Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) Degree in Accounting.
Many other students who will graduate from GZU and Midlands State University (MSU) next year and the year after have passed through TellZim News or are still doing their work related learning with the popular newspaper.
All this puts the newspaper on an equal footing with other indigenous Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) that are sweating it out in a tough economic environment to provide opportunities to young people as well as the very hope that graduates in the country yearn for.
TellZim News editor Passmore Kuzipa, in his remarks in the wake of the graduation ceremony, said what the newspaper had achieved was unprecedented.
“Here is a newspaper with barely two years on the market but already boasting the highest number of journalists with university qualifications.  This is really a record and it puts us within the right framework which we need in our quest to constantly innovate and improve our newspaper.
“We congratulate all the graduates for a job well done, we thank them for doing the newspaper proud and helping to market TellZim News as a brand of forward looking people who take the reader and the advertiser seriously.  We acknowledge that education and continuous self-improvement is the way to go; we want to make sure that our brand is personified by well-educated people,” said Kuzipa.
When he came for the official opening of Hevoi FM in June this year, permanent secretary in the Ministry of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services George Charamba urged people in the media industry to ‘go to school’, saying he was fully aware that many people in the industry were practicing though they did not received requisite training.education

MDC-T useless!

0

Mapombi still believes Mnangagwa is the only hope for a better future though the guy is not so intelligent zvake. There was a time I was forced to think that Mnangagwa did not go to a proper law school; maybe ane certificate or diploma in Law, if there is anything like that, because degree chairo I doubt. Probably a certificate coupled with over 40 years of political experience would make one behave and think like a well-learned lawyer – I’m just thinking hangu judging from how Mnangagwa reacts to issues. He is more of a slow learner. Or someone from a Special Class!
Anyway, whatever his case might be; the truth is he is far much better than colleagues from MDC-T. I mean the likes of ana Morgiza, Chamisa, mukoma Doug and Gutu. Those guys are just useless! Clueless. I have been going around Masvingo province since ZEC started its BVR blitz and I have noticed only Zanu PF is actively mobilising people to go and register to vote, while MDC-T is nowhere to be found.
The guys always spend their few resources on wrong things – just a few weeks ago, they were busy suing ZEC over BVR instead of using those resources to mobilise people to vote.  The majority of MDC-T Masvingo provincial executive members is busy in Harare with their private lives and no one is giving leadership to the people here. Many of them think everyone is on Facebook and they just post saying people should go and register. The messages are not even well-packed.
It’s not everyone on social media and it’s not everyone who would read the message. People should go out there and mobilise just like what Zanu PF is doing. Don’t cry foul kana madyiwa neZanu PF mozoti makabirirwa because you are not doing anything. Zanu PF is actually having statistics of its members and they are making sure everyone is registered. Rural areas have the largest populations so one can reach those people using Facebook. Ndokurashika zve ikoko. Ngwarai mhani makaita seiko imi.
Mapombi thought MDC-T would capitalise on the current situation in Zanu PF – the ruling party is at its weakest – but instead ana Chamisa nana Khupe vatova busy kurwira chigaro chaMorgiza. Nxaa! Munoodza moyo imi.
It’s high time the opposition gets organised, go to rural areas and mobilise especially the youths to go and register to vote. Ko door to door campaign yamaimboita kudhara zvakapera nepi? I don’t see opposition winning 2018 elections unless they start to be serious now and do the right thing. Their methods of mobilising the people to go and register are only for urban and probably peri-urban settings, which I’m sure is a sign that they will lose. Social media yakanaka asi vanhu vanodawo kuona vatungamiri vavo. That is the reason Mugabe has been going around meeting the youths. Instead of imitating, many of MDC-T supporters kungwarira kutuka Mugabe chete chete.
At least I have told you point blank that given a chance I would choose Mnangagwa ahead of opposition because MDC-T is fractious at the moment. Mapombi’s wish is that Tsvangirai recovers so that he can campaign otherwise chiparty chatopera ichi. But for now, my focus will be on Ngwena but he should be more aggressive kana achida kuti tiwirirane.
Because if he continues to be quiet then he will be slaughtered like a lamb at the extra ordinary congress come December. Say something ED; I mean show grip mhani kwete kuswera kujairirwa nevana vazuro uno vana Kasukuwere. All along, I thought you are intelligent; don’t be just a ceremonial VP; don’t be VP known for command agriculture only. Start implementing Command Respect now! Just now. Command Respect.
But Grace is so cunning hey; in fact Marujata is just too ambitious. Mapombi doesn’t see anyone stopping her from becoming the vice president of the Republic of Zimbabwe – whether first, second or third VP. All I know is that she will force her way into the presidium. Ndokungwarazve uku. Mapombi heard there was once a man from Zaka East who used to call himself ‘Rumerakangwara’ Tinos Rusere – may his soul rest in peace!
Grace ius ‘Gadzirakangwara’ for sure. She is almost getting there vana Ngwena vakangoti vava. Dai ndaive ndisiri mukadzi zvangu shuwa maindiona.
Anyway, it’s almost lunch time guys let me go ndindokanga zvangu maputi angu for lunch apa ndakatozvimbirwa zvangu with some rotten bananas I ate. And it’s too hot these days zvekuti chero imbwa dzava kuswera mumadziva medu maMucheke River umu.
By the way, do you still remember what I told you about Mphoko kkkkkkkk I told you kuti mukaona akanyarara paataura chete anenge ari mafireworks ega ega. Kkkkkk Mapombi heard that Mphoko, so far, is the only person who effectively used the position of Acting President when he issued a press statement calling VP Mnangagwa to order kkkkk Mboko imboko!mapombi

Mwenezi girl drowns in Zvehubu Dam

MWENEZI – A family from Mboweni village under Chief Negari is heartbroken after a minor who was doing grade four at Rata Primary School drowned in Zvehubu Dam while fetching water.
The body of Miriam Jerera was found floating in the dam from where it was retrieved and taken to Neshuro District Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Though no comment could immediately be obtained from the police, Chief Negari confirmed the tragedy.
“The body of Miriam Jerera was found in Zvehubu Dam last Sunday afternoon. People who retrieved her body said she was still breathing when they found her but she was announced dead on arrival at the hospital.
“She lived with her grandmother and was alone when the incident happened. They had previously gone to the same dam to fetch water together with the grandmother but she later convinced her that she could go back alone,” said Chief Negari.
The grandmother later suspected something was amiss and she rushed to find out, and that is when she noticed that her grandchild had left her bucket unattended. One of her shoes was floating in the dam.
She immediately alerted other villagers who came and retrieved the young girl.
The tragedy comes a few weeks after another minor, Moreblessing Mbilibgwani of Chitemere village under Chief Neshuro in Mwenezi drowned in Chikwela Dam under similar circumstances.local
