And now we are even blaming sanctions and the West for sabotaging our Look East policy kkkkkkkkkkkk baba vangu iwe seka zvako Mapombi of the unknown totem.
We should chase these people away because they are looting our resources. We all know what happened in Marange diamonds – they looted all the diamonds and we even failed to account for $15 billion? Musaita zvekutambazve imi kuti $15 billion yongoshaikwa. MaChina kuita madiro nemaDiamonds vagari vekwaChiyadzwa vachitambura. Haa musadaro vakomana hamunyare makaita seiko?
As if that is not enough, the Chinese are now looting US dollars kuenda nawo ari muma bags and trunks. Go around the town in all China shops they are strictly accepting cash and no EcoCash, Swipe or RTGS. Mapombi would want to appeal to those in high offices to visit these China shops and find out why they are not accepting plastic money. Mapombi also discovered that they even have swipe machines but they don’t use them unless if the customer threaten them – manje kuitawo here ikoko.
Do we all need to wear suits and dark glasses so that they can accept swipe or EcoCash from us? Imagine if OK or Pick n Pay was doing that, maCivil Servants airarama here? Tafadzwa Shumba to represent Masvingo scouts in Germany

MASVINGO – Masvingo Scouting Association has selected 23-year-old Tafadzwa Nkata Shumba to represent the province among the Zimbabwean scouts contingent which left the country yesterday (Wednesday) for Germany where they will spend the next 14 days.
Shumba, who is the provincial rover scouts leader, joined nine other rover scouts who are heading to the European country representing their scouting provinces.
Speaking to TellZim News before his departure, Shumba said being nominated for the opportunity was a privilege and was proud to represent the province and the nation.
“Being invited and nominated was a real privilege and a once in a lifetime opportunity so I am proud to be representing my nation and I am proud to be a member of the Zimbabwe National Scouts Organisation (NSO),” Sibanda said.
He said the trip will contribute to his wealth of experience as a scout due to the many fruitful activities that he will be exposed to during his time in Germany.
Masvingo NSO provincial commissioner Silvester Chin’anga said he was confident that Sibanda will represent the province well.
“We have no doubt the boy will raise the Masvingo and Zimbabwe flags high and make us proud. I have confidence in him and whatever he will learn there is not going to be for himself alone but for the growth of the whole scouting movement,” said Chin’anga.
Shumba is a beneficiary of a German scouting programme that is organised every four years as a way of sharing experiences with scouts from other countries.
This year’s programme is expected to host about 4 000 scouts from Germany and 500 from elsewhere.local

Doug Hill Schools Drama Festival sprouts to life

This year, Masvingo Theatre and Arts Club launches the first edition of the Doug Hill School Drama Festival yet again.
The festival will run from August 01-02 in the graceful ambience of the Charles Austin theatre.
The festival will witness riveting acts from eleven various schools from all over Zimbabwe. Some of the schools that will take part in the festival include Evelyn Girls High, Victoria High School, Gifford, Shingirirayi, Dewure and Pamushana.
This year, it has been decided that the festival will not adopt a theme as a way of encouraging creativity among young aspiring theatre practitioners.
The programme will be very rich with workshops that will be presided over by professionals to nurture young artists to become theatre gurus in the mould of Hill himself. To offer variety and excellence in the spirit of the festival, Masvingo Music Awards winner Alchemy will perform live, alongside renowned guitarist Maramba.
The Masvingo Theatre and Arts Club will showcase a masterpiece performance of Born Free.
Charles Austin Theatre artistic director Mike Banda said preparations were going well and was confident that this year’s event will exceed expectations.
“We are also happy to have the support of Nhimbe Trust in celebration of the ever-growing, unwavering commitment of Mr. Hill in the theatre history of Zimbabwe.
“I also hope that this young generation will be able to learn a lot from this festival and that they will be able to use theatre to transform the society just like Mr Hill did,” said Banda.entertainment

The Salvation Army Masvingo Division, Masvingo community and members from different churches gathered at Mucheke Corps on July 23 to bid farewell to Majors Isaac and Charity Mhembere who are leaving for Bulawayo.
The event was graced by Secretary for Programme Administration as well as Lieutenant Colonel T Muzorori who was in the company of his wife W Muzorori.
Semukwe Divisional Commander Lovemore Chidhakwa was also present and he handed over The Whole World Mobilising flag to Masvingo Division.
Lt Col Muzorori encouraged soldiers to wake up from the slumber and take God’s duties in the proper way of the Army. He encouraged soldiers to go for Open Air Services to save lost souls, saying the whole World Mobilising flag must be used accordingly and the church must be active in bringing new members to Christ.
Majors Isaac and Charity Mhembere came to Masvingo Division in January 2010 as Divisional Commander and Divisional Director for Women Ministries respectively and they served for almost seven and a half years before their new appointment as Administrators at Enterprise Home in Bulawayo.
Many speakers praised the major for his hard work and zeal for development that saw several projects coming up in different communities of Masvingo.
Soldiers learnt that Major Mhembere was instrumental in projects like the construction of Four Miles Clinic, and was active in the development of water and sanitation projects in Zaka.
He also worked for the construction of Chitenderano Secondary School in Chivi and the Masvingo Division’s congress site in Chivi. Major Mhembere oversaw other projects which include food distribution to drought prone areas and he also helped develop the Divisional Headquarters.

MUTARE – Members of the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) last Sunday proved their driving expertise at the Traffic Safety Council (TSCZ) National Driver of the Year awards held at Holiday Inn Mutare, with their two drivers winning the rigid lorry and articulated trucks accolades.
In the rigid lorry category, Robert Tazvitya and Norbert Chatikobo won the first and second prizes respectively while Zimbabwe Electrical Transmission Distribution Company (ZETDC)’s Gift Frank won the third prize.
In the articulated truck category, Kinsan Nyati was crowned this year’ champion and went away with a trophy and US$900 cash prize plus an additional US$100 courtesy of the Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Jorum Gumbo.
His colleague, K. Dube won US$700 cash prize after coming second in the articulated truck category while Munyaradzi Shazhu from Delta Beverages in Bulawayo took third place and won US$400.
In the buses category, Joel Dera of Unki Mine scooped the trophy and a US$800 cash prize with Norman Ranganai of Kyle Preparatory School in Masvingo taking second position worth US$600. Jacob Mangwende of Africa University took third place and walked away with US$300.
In the kombis category, Tonderai Chirima won US$400, Taurai Madzimbamuto US$300 while Blessing Razemba came third and pocketed US$200.
The winners are now set to participate at international level on a date yet to be announced.
Speaking during the ceremony Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development commented TSCZ for the initiative which he said helped motorist to understand the importance of good driving habits.
“Allow me to commend TSCZ for designing good driver improvement competitions which undoubtedly will go a long way in producing disciplined drivers.
“It is very disturbing to note that out of the 1 291 fatal crashes recorded last year, 569 occurred on  the recently resurfaced highway (Plumtree – Mutare) followed by Beitbridge – Chirundu so we are calling upon drivers to take this programme seriously to avoid road accidents,” Gumbo said.
Drivers who participated in the competition were drawn from various provinces and one needed have at least a five-year accident-free driving record.local

MWENEZI – A man who allegedly kept on pestering his son-in-law to pay roora was savagely attacked and left with severe injuries that saw him being transferred from Neshuro District Hospital to Masvingo General Hospital for treatment.
Twenty-six-year-old Tafadzwa Pfumisidzai of Mfula Ranch under Chief Chitanga last week appeared before magistrate Honest Musiiwa facing charges of attempted murder.
Pfumisidzai told the court that he was acting in self-defence when he attacked Josias Musiwechivi who allegedly gave him a torrid time demanding that bride price for his daughter, who is married to Pfumisidzai, be paid in full.
“My father-in-law was the first to attack me. He confronted me and I tried to run away but he followed me into my bedroom pestering about the bride price,” said Pfumisidzai.
The court heard that on July 13, Pfumisidzai had a misunderstanding with Musiwechivi over the issue of bride prize.
Pfumisidzai is said to have taken an unidentified sharp object to stab Musiwechivi on his face and on the head.
Musiwechivi sustained severe injuries as a result of the assault and was referred to Neshuro District Hospital from where he was further transferred to Masvingo General Hospital where he was said to be battling for his life.
The court remanded Pfumisidzai in custody and the case was due to continue by the time of going to print.
Willard Chasi appeared for the State.
In a similar case, a man was dragged to the civil court by his former mother-in-law who sought a protection order against him, claiming that he was persistently harassing her and demanding his bride price back.
Gladies Bhovoza of Matutu village under Chief Chitanga dragged her ex son-in-law, Adonia Ndebele of the same village, to the court saying Ndebele was demanding that she pays back the roora he paid before his marriage to her daughter broke down.
Musiiwa gave the protection order and ordered Ndebele to stop harassing his former mother-in-law.local

MASVINGO – Runesu Tafirei of Gavure village under Chief Chitanga in Mwenezi recently became the first person to be acquitted of murder in the Masvingo High Court after Justice Joseph Mafusire found him not guilty on charges of killing his brother-in-law.
The court was officially opened last year and it became Zimbabwe’s third High Court tasked with reducing judicial backlogs in a province with some of the highest murder rates in the country.
The accused’s defence counsel, led by Dereck Charamba of Mutendi, Mudisi and Shumba Legal Practitioners, convinced the court that the accused was acting in self-defence when the alleged crime was committed.
In passing the judgement, Justice Mafusire said he had weighed the evidence submitted and came to the conclusion that the accused should be set free.
It was the State’s case that on August 16, 2016, Runesu and Benias Mutovo (the deceased) were at Chavani homestead partaking traditional beer with several other patrons.
At around 16:00 hrs, the two were involved in a fight over a container of beer reserved for the village head and they were restrained by other people before they went their separate ways.
It was heard that Mutovo later returned at Chavani homestead armed with a knife intending to attack Tafirei but did not find him there.
He then followed him to his homestead but on noticing Mutovo, Tafirei fled into his kitchen hut and bolted out when the now deceased pursued him.
Mutovo continued to pursue Tafirei around the scotch cart, the bedroom hut and out of the homestead all the time with the intention of stabbing him.
Tafirei later got tired and picked up a log from the goat pen which he then used to strike Mutovo on the head, killing him instantly.
Tafirei later handed himself to Ngundu Police Station.local

MBERENGWA – Commercial sex workers in the district have recommended that they be helped to set up a Commercial Sex Workers Pension Fund (CSWPF) which they hope would cushion them against dire poverty when they go out of business.
Speaking at a National Aids Council (Nac) workshop held at Mberengwa offices last week, commercial sex workers present suggested a pension plan that would be dedicated to improving the living standards of sex workers after retirement from the industry.
“We wish to establish our own pension scheme as commercial sex workers. This will go a long way in assisting those of us who go out of business because of old age and illness. The scheme will also have a provision to pay school fees for the relations of those who would have died during the course of this risky business,” proposed a commercial sex worker who identified herself as Snodia Goredema.
Another sex worker, Imelda Hove supported the suggestion saying most commercial sex workers languish in abject poverty after spending years in the sex business.
She suggested that all sex workers should meet and work on setting up the fund with the aid of a lawyer.
“Most commercial sex workers become poverty-stricken soon after they go out of business hence by establishing a pension fund, we would have created a solution against problems associated with life after commercial sex work.
“Remember we also have kids who have to go to school, we should save money so through that scheme, we will be able to pay school fees for them even when we are out of business,” she said.
The sex workers also lamented what they called was unfriendly treatment they get from the communities in which they operate; being labelled as sex mongers and transmitters of HIV and Aids.local

Toastmasters, a Mutare Girls High School club, gave the elderly at Zororai Old People’s Home a reason to smile when they donated groceries at the Sakubva home last Friday.
The gesture of goodwill was part of the 15-member club’s efforts to give back to the less privileged in the community.
The club, which started operating in February this year, is made up people who are passionate about charity and the welfare of the less fortunate.
 “We had a great day with our grandparents and we are happy because we managed to put smiles on their faces. As we all know that charity begins at home, we started by giving back to our school.
“We saw the need for bins in classrooms to keep the environment clean and conducive for learning so we donated 20 bins for all the classrooms at our school. Yet again, we noticed the need for wall clocks to be used during examination period.
“This was a result of complains from the learners of inconsistent time readings by invigilators during exams. We donated 20 clocks for classrooms and the school departments,” said the club’s representative Miranda Samaneka.
Club patron Mercy Mukono, who is also a teacher at Mutare Girls High, said they have adopted the old people’s home and they will continue to support it.
“We felt the need to continue giving them support. The girls raise funds by selling doughnuts at the school and selling some foodstuffs on sports days.
“Last term, we managed to gather resources during the Shumbas sports gala which we hosted at our school. Some of the groceries we donated included mealie meal, rice, bath soaps, laundry soaps, cooking oil, powdered milk juices and tea leaves,” she said.
Zororai Old People’s Home sister in charge, Blantina Muriko said the donations will take them a long way in meeting some of the basic needs of their inmates.
Other members of the Toastmasters are Euginia Samurembwe who is the president, Tamia Gwarada who is the secretary and Nyasha Chitauro who is the financial director.
The committee is made up of Mitchell Fero, Kimberly Mutopora, Miranda Samaneka, Angeline Mandonga, Natasha Mutasa, Bridget Chagweda and Katlego Gumbo.education

MWENEZI – A 21-year-old intelligent but disadvantaged boy who set for his ‘A’ Levels last year and attained 15 points is appealing for help so that he can go to university.
Kevin Muronga went to Mufakose High School in Triangle and sat for examinations in Agriculture, Mathematics and Biology.
His dream to be a psychotherapist is however being impeded by lack of resources as his poor mother has separated from his father who is said to be no longer interested in them.
Speaking to TellZim News, Kelvin’ mother, Telina Magomana, who relies on piece jobs of fetching water for construction sites at Rutenga growth point, said she could not afford what it takes to send her child to further his education.
“He wants to proceed to university and I tried to find a job for him in the sugar farms of Chiredzi but we have not been successful. I am even struggling to put food on the table for my two children because I only do piece jobs I do,” said Magomana.
