Gospel music promoters must not be selective: Parehwa

0

Davison Marenga

Zvishavane – One of the Great Dyke’s most popular gospel artists, Attalia Parehwa has bemoaned lack of sponsorship and acknowledgement as a major setback for most musicians in smaller towns.
The Echoes of Praise leader urged gospel music sponsors not to look down upon musicians from smaller towns as they could at times be as equally talented as their counterparts from bigger communities.
“Most musicians from small towns are looked down upon in the gospel circles. First preference is given to those in big towns mainly Harare. We must be given equal opportunities since we are all gospel singers.
“Lack of opportunity to showcase our talents makes us feel inferior. It weighs upon our confidence in doing what we think we are good at. In the few instances that we are given chances to share the stage with the big guns in gospel music, we are only given limited time and only as curtain raisers,” Parehwa said.
A humble musician who discovered her talent at a tender age, Parehwa was roped into her church’s praise and worship team at the age of 12.
She started her professional carrier as a musician in 2006 when she recorded her first single with the group Revenge which was led by Japhet Mpofu.
Having three albums under her name; Makanaka Mwari (2012) Anenyasha (2014) and Mwari Makatendeka (2016), Parehwa says she is inspired by various musicians in the music fraternity, including Shingisai Siluma, Mai Charamba and Oliver Mutukudzi.

Kkk nesuwo vana Mapombi tinongotevera tirimumasure. We also follow politics, even if we do not have money to buy newspapers, we listen to what people say. Ko handiti munongodarika muchitaura ndakateerera here? These days there is a lot of traffic at Chimusana bridge , I don’t mean motokari – the number of people crossing Chimusana ne shoka vawandisa kkkk seka zvako Mapombi, some real gentlemen vanhu vamungatoti magamba mutowundi umu tinovaona vachitekaira vachikirosa Chimusana, isu ipapo tinenge zvedu tichidya some rotten bananas that we get from Dr Amai Trading Centre. Thus when we hear almost everything, we hear people condemning people kkk when I say people attacking people I Zanu PF attacking another Zanu PF, or MDC-T attacking Morgan. This week it was all about Mliswa, haa chikomana chiya chakadadisa, I tell you guys, everyone was celebrating as if there was a national election. Iyoyi Norton iri one yakaunza hope and joy among Zimbabweans. To me , I mean ini zvangu wamunoti mupengo, I think this is a clear sign, a sign that Mugabe haachadiwe vakomana. The war veterans, the party cadres and almost everyone who matters in the party haachada, everyone is part of Tajamuka crew. This is really caused by the way Mugabe has accepted to work with very corrupt individuals. Surely how can a minister, I mean Jonso as he is called by Mutsvangwa, how can he steal/abuse all that money and goes on to mock Zimbaweans and the President smiles. Mukati hatisati tangofananawo na President imi? I mean isu vana Mapombi? This country is being run like fowl-run, I think   tose tiri huku chaidzo. We have totally failed to challenge these guys while they eat eat and eat, vachidya zvavo rifa. They take everything and dish out to their friends and relatives, I am sure this is when Simon Muzenda would recite the Mbuya Nehanda poem. Kusvika riiniko vakomana ava vachidya rifa when the rest of the country is suffering. Now they have rendered all the local authorities useless. We used to know that it was not the duty of the party political commissar to dish out stands to Zanu PF youths. It was the duty of the local authority to make sure that they provide housing. It defies logic when I see the whole party commissariat giving stands to people who do not have under garments. Kkkk, tinovaona vachiuya kuno kwa Dr Grace to buy under garments – aikazve, zvibhurugwa zvemubhero ndozvavanopfeka then they do toy toy going to receive residential stands. Its a circus Cde President! That must really stop. This is when Dr Mhamha would say Stop ! If you really love these youths, then create proper employment and empower them. Giving them stands is not empowerment mhani, nhaiwe Kasukuwere please where do you get that from ? Regai ma war vets azokuti you are the worst political commissar that Zanu PF has ever known. Saka kana mapedza kupa mastands then what next kkk. Just empower people create conducive environment for people to acquire their own property. That time makamboti toita Garikai Hlalani Kuhle but ndiyani akazogara mushe? Why do you continue to abuse people and fool Zimbabweans? I was almost forgetting that tomorrow the President, I mean the man himself will be in town capping yet another batch of vendors. I laugh all the time when I know that Mugabe actually has the statistics of unemployed graduates because he is always witnessing them going in the streets. Mavakuuyazve kuona vachipinda mustreet, by this time you should be embarassed I know. Hamunyari here kuti vana ava vamunorova misoro havana mabasa they are going to sell airtime? Dai ndaiva mukuru wenyika ndaisauya ku graduation its really embarrassing, isu tokunyarirai zvedu kana musinganyari kkkkk.

ZVISHAVANE – The fast-growing Errymaple College held a colourful speech and prize giving ceremony on Friday last week to mark its sixth anniversary, the first event of that kind at the college’s new premises.
Errymaple is located about kilometres out of Zvishavane town along Masvingo road.

Mayor urges residents to save water as dam dries up

Masvingo – Masvingo City Mayor Hubert Fidze has urged residents to use water sparingly as levels in the city’s main water source; Lake Mutirikwi,  have drastically fell to an alarming 7.6 percent.
Speaking to TellZim News, Mayor Hubert Fidze, said if no considerable rainfalls are recorded, the city will run dry within a period of two weeks.
“We are at risk of running dry. The main challenge is that water levels are running low at a time when no rainfall has been recorded and we are experiencing very high temperatures. Residents are the only people who can save us from the looming danger by using water wisely.
“Currently the water level is at 7.6% meaning we have only 2.5% to use because when water levels drop to 5%, authorities will have to shut down. In the previous two weeks, the water level was on 9% and today (Tuesday) it’s 7.6%. So if we continue with irrational use of water, we will soon be dry,” Fidze said.
Meanwhile, Masvingo City Council recently announced that the installation of an emergency water pump at Lake Mutirikwi would cost an estimated US$1.5 billion. The council also had plans to rehabilitate seven boreholes sunk during the 1992 drought though economic challenges saw the City fathers failing to meet the goal.news

Charles Takayambigwa (48) of New Lobengula in Bulawayo, was facing culpable homicide charges after he allegedly caused the death of his child when his Toyota Ipsum veered off the road, overturned several times before landing on its roof.
He said many accidents in the country were a result of the poor state of the roads that the government was not maintaining.
Magistrate Story Rushambwa, nonetheless, ordered him to pay US$400 fine or serve three months imprisonment.
It was the State’s case that on May 29 this year, Takayambigwa unlawfully drove the motor vehicle which he failed to control resulting in the accident.
The magistrate pointed out that the accused acted negligently by failing to reduce speed while approaching a curve as he was aware that death could occur.
After the accident, the body of the deceased was taken to Zvishavane District Hospital but the accused escaped unscathed.
“I want you to tell our government to do something about the roads as they are causing the accidents. It was not my fault that I was involved in the accident. It was because I hit a pothole,” said Takayambigwa.news
