Delta employee charged for theft of trust property

ZVISHAVANE – Lameck Chikura appeared before Zvishavane Magistrates Court charged with theft of trust property as defined in Section 113(2)(d) of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act Chapter 9.23.
Chikura denied the allegations but magistrate Story Rushambwa remanded him in custody for continuation of trial.
The court heard that Chikura is employed at the Zvishavane branch of Delta Beverages as a Sales and Distribution Supervisor.
It is the State’s case that on the June 2, June 10, June 24 and 26 this year, Chikura received sums of US$568, US$942, US$383 and US$532 cash respectively from Delta Beverages Masvingo to give to Truck Assistants and drivers in Zvishavane as refund for missed meals.
The accused person paid $365 to the Truck Assistants and drivers and converted $2060 to his own use. Magistrate Rushambwa remanded Chikura in custody and is expected to reappear in court soon. Talent Tadenyika prosecuted.news
