MWENEZI – Catholics from diverse corners of the province and beyond, last Saturday converged at Sacred Heart High School in Mwenezi, celebrating Father Pauls Wezana’s 10th anniversary at the helm.
The colourful ceremony was graced by the dean of Southern Deanery, Father Samson Mutsvanga as guest and other dignitaries like Frs Patrick Marimazhira and Donald Zvemisha as well as priests and church representatives from elsewhere.
Speakers hailed the 42-year-old Fr Wezana as a dedicated and hardworking cleric whose work continues to be a shining example.
Fr Mutsvanga praised Fr Wezana for his outstanding work which he said was a result of a divine calling.
“Father Wezana’s good works started way beyond 2007. He has and is still serving God with utmost diligence. His calling was not a human mission. It was God’s calling that is evidently bearing fruits,” said Fr Mutsvanga.
On his part, Fr Wezana thanked the Catholic leadership and the faithful for their support and advised school children to be focussed and united for the good of their communities and country.
Born and bred in Sheshe village under Chief Mupata in Gutu, Fr Wezana started his one and half year vocation course at Mazowe Pre-Major Seminary in 1999.
He was ordained in 2007 and he started to administer in Chiredzi at St Peter’s Chikombedzi from where he transferred to St Nicolas’, Holy Trinity Triangle, St Mary’s Nyika, St Monica’s Chikuku in 2009, 2013, 2014 and 2015 respectively.
From St Monica’s Chikuku, he moved to All Saints Rutenga in January 2016 where he is currently ministering.religion
