MASVINGO- The Chamisa led MDC-Alliance has lamented the lack of coverage by state-run media outlets which they say is a threat to media diversity and accuse of being a Zanu PF mouthpiece.
These allegations were raised during a press discussion titled ‘Road to Great Zimbabwe.Where to from here?’ that was hosted by TellZim News on October 12 with the party’s president Nelson Chamisa.
Chamisa said his party has been portrayed negatively by the state media and only received negative coverage and criticism.
“We have been banned on state media platforms for the past five years except when we are being attacked for causing havoc or mobilizing a large crowd. It is not like I want to be interviewed, but we want equal representation, we also want our success to be published and what we are doing as a party,” said Chamisa.
He went on to say that his party has been targeted by the ruling party and was abusing government parastatals to fight his party.
“Any organization from Zimbabwe that works with the government desists from engaging us and you might see those in charge of roads being told to ban us from travelling,” said Chamisa.
Chamisa was in Masvingo province where he was expected to meet party structures and the general populace to map his party’s way forward ahead of 2023 polls.
