…as Undenge commissions 320k Malipati electricity project

Beatific Gumbwanda

CHIREDZI – Chief Sengwe recently warned aspiring Members of Parliament in Chiredzi South to put their interests elsewhere, saying his people will stand with current MP Rtd Brig Kalisto Gwanetsa.
Chief Sengwe said the incumbent had proved that he has the interests of the people at heart by initiating developmental projects in the area.
Speaking at the commissioning of a US$320 000 electrification project at Malipati Government High School, the chief told Energy and Power Development minister Dr Samuel Undenge that he will support Gwanetsa in the 2018 election.
Among other achievements, Gwanetsa is credited for lobbying Agribank to open a branch at Chikombedzi business centre and engaging mobile telecommunication providers to build base stations in his area.
He is also praised for working to secure funding for the rehabilitation and upgrading of the ramshackle Chilonga Bridge. The project has not yet started but there are indications that the Infrastructural Development Bank of Zimbabwe (IDBZ) will carry out the work.
“We would like to thank Honourable Gwanetsa for influencing the minister to connect us to the world as we were living in the darkness. He is also fighting for the construction of Chilonga Bridge which connects us to our local town of Chiredzi… Gwanetsa is our Messiah who was sent by God to manoeuvre us from the jaws of poverty,” said Chief Sengwe.
Dr Undenge told the traditional leader that other schools and institutions in the communal area will also be connected to the national grid through the established line.
“We also have plans to extend this line for a further 42 kilometre so that other places including Gezani Secondary School can also be electrified,” said Dr Undenge.
The electrification project benefitted Malipati Government High School, Malipati Primary School, the business centre and three government extension offices.politics
