Augustine Chihuri

09 Feb 2017 – MASVINGO – Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Commissioner-General Augustine Chihuri last week criticised the controversial national pledge introduced by Minister of Primary and Secondary Education; Lazarus Dokora, saying the policy was dragging pupils into idolatry.
The pledge was vehemently rejected by most Zimbabweans and various Christian organisations but Dokora went ahead and railroaded the pledge.
Speaking in Masvingo during the Commissioner’s Service held at Phoenix in Masvingo, Com-Gen Chihuri warned teachers and headmasters in attendance to safeguard Christian standards which he said were under threat from developments in the Ministry of Education.
“…are there any teachers here? I ask them because I want to warn them of evil that is being spread through initiatives in the education sector which we must stop if we are real Christians. Some of the initiatives are clearly an indication of idolatry,” Chihuri said while quoting scriptures.
“I hear these initiatives come from a semi-bold headed man with a lot of beard but please, don’t listen to him.  If all his initiatives pass, that will be the end of schools grooming children in a Christ-like manner,” Chihuri said.
He also attacked ‘false prophets’ whom he said are misleading the people.news
